If people think Ralf is the problem, they ain’t gonna like him pulling strings in the background for 2 years when a new manager comes in. He’ll get the blame if that goes belly up, and it’ll be another case of rot in the eyes of many. Truth is, the players aren’t good enough.
How can anyone think Ralf is the problem? The place stank before he rocked up and I imagine he almost crapped his pants when he saw the size of the task in front of him. He dealing with years of mismanagement, chopping and changing of personnel in the dugout, coaching methods, and heaven-knows what else. He's an outsider coming into a place that was pretty incestuous with players and ex-players calling the shots.

Honestly its probably better to lose when we play like that rather than sneak out a win when its a crap performance and masks our problems.

Ole got second place with this squad last season, without Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo of course. Feels extremely far away right now.

Some of the worst football i have witnessed at this level. It should not be possible to play this bad with so many quality players in the squad. I had the Benny Hill music in my head at times while watching this game.
And the players doesn`t compensate for their unbelivable shitness with immense pressure and hard work, no, they just stroll around most of the time. How top 4 is still within our reach i will never know.

I'd say our future success, short term, lies in the hands of Sasha Lense; the core group of (younger) players in our squad lack the mental resilience required.

Plenty of players who look great when we're playing well and the sun is shining, far too few who can play their way out of a bad run of form by working hard on the basics.

At the other end of the spectrum you have Ronaldo, who should be playing Champions League games and the last 20 minutes of league games at best as it's clear he's a busted flush in the Premier League.

I thought the game would have drifted to a scoreless draw, the defeat was a real kick in the teeth. Wolves were difficult opponents, very well organised on and off the ball but for all their god play, they never really showed a cutting edge, that’s credit to the defence that did their job well, it was a bit of a sucker punch their strike. The big disappointment came from our attacking play, we looked more organised in our game plan but our passing was subpar and we lacked creativity, certain individuals also let themselves down too.

Congrats to Jones for his comeback. Thought he was great today, if he can keep that up then I wouldn’t worry too much about him being in the team.

Same shit, different day, we just look totally rudderless as a unit, the only hint of team chemistry was with Mason and AWB on the right.

Terrible performance. Just devoid of any flow and creativity.

Sancho needs to buck up, he's playing worse than Dan James did for us. His decision making is alarming, he aimlessly dribbles 5 yards when the option really isn't there and when the option is there, he turns into trouble and just whacks it at the defenders legs and at best wins a throw or gives it away. I would say it's a lack of confidence but then it's not like he's just playing safe all the time, it's just a mix of bad close control and decision making.

Rashford plays like he's on trial and it's been like that for a while now. I'm not sure why he can't just sell one defender and either pass it or shoot. It's like he's been banned from only beating one player and has to do multiple before he can shoot or pass. Constantly turning into trouble and defender know he likes to chop and sell defenders and they aren't diving in anymore.

AWB - same problem. His footwork when receiving the ball is all wrong from a basic technical level, always side on, easy to read, poor technical ability. That's not something you can coach at that age, he won't ever be good enough for United from an attacking POV. He can be passable when in form but that's about it.

We need a CM - it's clear as day and needs to be our next signing. Also don't understand why we constantly take Greenwood off, the only one who can lock the ball in and actually turn on it and get us up the pitch. He gets so many bad balls knocked into him that if played into Sancho/Rashford and they give it away, you'd actually excuse them 'Ah ball into him needs to be better'. But Greenwood actually deals with it and most of the time keeps the ball.

How can Conte turn things around at spurs and yet the “godfather” of German football can’t here?
I am not Rangnick out but obviously, Conte is a better manager by some distance, his cv proves that. But nobody in our team like him, from the board to the group of core players.

Because it was what happened with LVG, with Mourinho, with Ole. It's always our manager who has to be blamed while players get new contracts with world-class salaries, we are funny that way :)

Awful from midfield up. Slow transition and sloppy passes. Elements from Ralf failed but the players lack of intensity and awful passing is horrendous and cost us dearly yet again.

so much for culture changing by Ole. We are in a right mess with a team of individuals.

So the Ole out brigade got their wish, only for the same mediocrity to be handed out by the new incumbent.

How long before Ralf gets the same treatment and they rinse and repeat?
It works at other clubs

Should’ve got Conte when we had the chance.
Yes definitely.
But that didn't happen and we are where we are.
There is no easy answer.
And things are not going to change in the short term.
The players just have to do all of the basics that premier league standard players should be able to do. Because it is pretty clear that they are not doing the basics.
But what bothers me most is why seemingly good players come to OT and deteriorate so quickly.
Why?

Why did he take off Greenwood man, why? The fans in the stadium groaned.
I was at the ground today and we booed. He was our best attacker by far and the only way playing at the right intensity.

We need to play 3 in midfield.

For me it's not the personnel or the formation, it is more fundamental than that!

Over-hitting an easy pass, passing it behind the target or out of play.

Professional footballers shouldn't need to be told not to do that constantly.

Also you need to know your teammates, giving AWB the ball because he is open might be a pass they can actually complete, but then what? AWB has the ball...which shouldn't be a thing that happens over and over again.

Also McTom on the ball, and the attackers make a run that Scott is never going to be able to find them!

This is the crap that Ole left, will take him months to get anywhere near sorting it out.

When will I watch my team without complaining a single thing? We are now a mid table team.
We are sinking very badly, how did we miss out on conte? He is now working miracle in Tottenham Hotspur, while we have a video analyst.

The big problem I seen is the lack of pace up front when cavani and ronaldo play together. There's no danger to the opposition of either of them running in behind so they can play a higher line and not have any worries about the space behind them.

This lets them squeeze the midfield and makes it easier for them to close the space and close the midfield down and just dominate us.

How can this be the team we alienated Martial for? Are you really telling me we wouldn’t do much better with Martial leading the line and connecting the dots with our other attackers?

Rangnick is clueless for how much he features Ronaldo in this team. I won’t stop saying it either because it’s pretty obvious Ronaldo isn’t working well with the squad. Everyone is forced to pass to him when they could shoot themselves. We are playing with 10 men which is unbelievable when you factor in our other handicaps in AWB and mctominay.
It’s all the decision making from the attackers. They don’t create for one another. They shoot when they should pass and pass when they should shoot. Take extra touches instead of moving it or they try flicks when they should hold it. It’s just broken.

No good formation will make much of a difference when most of the players couldn't be arsed to put in effort. Jones our MOTM says it all. Did he really play any better than what he used to when fit? No, he didn't but he had a good game because he gave his 100% as he usually does when he plays. Wolves passed the ball with ease and found all sorts of spaces to run at us cause some of our players were either ball watching or just jogging about the pitch.

Bad performance and win vs bad performance and loss. And you choose latter.

Why does it always seem to be Shaw or Maguire who gets wheeled out post match.

We’re expecting too much too soon at the moment. Shocking display but we must allow Rangnick to work.
Yeah, it's very early days for Rangnick.

But even if United had been manager-less tonight, it's reasonable to expect more from the players.

I'm generally pretty pragmatic about United, but something is amiss here.

I have no doubt ole would manage more points than Ralf did so far in the games he's managed

Horrible manager

But we've been doing bad performances and occasional wins this season it doesn't amount to anything it just pulls the wool of people's eyes.

We need a major change

Just listened to RR interview, I expected him to say he took Greenwood off because he was injured… but no he wasn’t and imo he bottled out taking off the bigger name in Ronaldo or Cavani when it was clear Greenwood was the only one playing well…

Id have hooked Ronaldo every time, are managers scared of him And his petulance if subbed?

Sure, you tell yourself the loss is better somehow. Ole's already gone. We are just trying to get through the season.

The fourth has become a wide open race. Even the third is available. I hope Rangnick can turn things around quickly. There are some encouraging signs but too few.

Jesus Christ that Shaw interview. There’s obviously a huge mess going on behind closed doors at this club.
