Should wheel out Donny once just to mix it up a bit
They could wheel Donny out the door, I really don't care.

It just always seems that it is Shaw, Maguire and De Gea when we lose or play poorly. 9 times out of 10 they waffle off the same stuff.

Not happy. What is going on? Bruno's goal goes in and it's game over but we played a decent team for the 1st time and looked like we did under Ole.
Not got a good feeling about this guy.

Amongst a host of problems our strikers are prone to greedy football. We don't need more than one on the pitch.

This team is a shambles!
How Cavani played the full game amazes me :houllier:
Agree. I mean how many clear chances Ronaldo wastes is insane, but talking of Cavani...

This is just one example, early in the game, where he killed the momentum completely. I mean, he is genuinely a world-class striker (or at least was), how can he not at least try to turn around towards the goal and either make a nice pass to Greenwood or outplay the single defender between him and the goalkeeper? Instead he keeps being with his back towards the goal and passes the ball back deep into the midfield.

WHAT THE FLYING FECK seriously.

Podence was best player on the pitch by a mile. If he signed for us he would turn shit, no doubt.

the fear of going back to work tomorrow morning after nearly 3 weeks off was bad enough before i watched that garbage. Not turning on the manager but he decision to take Greenwood off instead of Cavani was baffling.

Pitiful yet again. Our midfield might not be good enough but the lack of intensity and movement is a joke.

Absolutely looking the worst United team of the Premier League era at the minute.

This club has been hijacked by the players after SAF left. I feel like a hostage, like no manager can help us. They just will have no power. Players will do their own thing. Is it only me?

Jones was actually very good. Definitely better than Maguire which is no suprise since his only weakness against the LCFC truck is his injury record.

As for everyone else except De Gea and Greenwood first half, they can feck off.

Sancho seems to be learning from Rashford in terms of selfishness and we have no midfield. All in all, a pathetic display which feels way too similar to the previous regime and makes you feel dread that someone else except the manager is making these team selections because it's the same shit under a different brand.

No change from previous managers, thought there would be more effort and the work rate would improve but seen nothing of the sort.

Happy to see Jones get a game, he was solid today and it’s better than Maguire. Are we now a team that needs to play with 2 holiding midfielders against Wolves? Honestly, it’s hard to watch and if we aspire to be challenging for the title something needs to change. Even if Pogba comes back and we get 3 games out of him at top level it’s a start.

We need a complete revamp all over again. Suddenly our midfield is non existent and team formation is completely out of touch with the strengths of our players.

Ive been a NY Red Bull Season ticket holder for about 7 years, and as such also followed RBLepizig and Salzburg.

This is 100% intentional - the whole goal of RB ball which is Ralf ball is to make more risky passes constantly and deep in their 3rd and use their turnovers as points of attack not trying to put together 25 passes and pick teams apart.

Chaos and pressing the higher and more frequent we lose the ball the more pressing chances closer to their goal - thats the plan.

I’ve been saying for a while that a fit Phil Jones is worth his place in the side. He’s a warrior.
Apart from him, it was a bit disappointing all round.

It's becoming a hard watch on a regular basis now. Difficult for fans who have little insight of what's going on behind the scenes. I would guess that it's more a confidence thing than a dressing room divide thing, but then I wouldn't be overly surprised if the latter turned out to be true.

A few random thoughts

  • Those two instances where Sancho and Cavani failed to make very obvious final passes were a real worry. Simply unforgiveable in a side that are struggling to create
  • The Greenwood sub was a odd one. Hopefully the knock he'd just taken was a factor otherwise that's a strange call
  • Well done Phil Jones. If nothing else he's shown that he's not finished at PL level
  • On Rangnick, it's important to give him time, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't expecting to see something more by this point. No real impact on anything so far

Yet another team coming to Old Trafford and completely dominating us in every aspect of the game , McT was a totally different player tonight than against Burnley Sancho looks really good when he starts going at players but looks lost in other parts of the game , I watched Bruno warming up and he was very active sprinting stretching the works , I also watched Rashford who did not looked arsed at all barely broke into a run never mind a sprint , was much the same when he came on , we have a lot of overpaid players at our club who’ve had it too easy hopefully Ralf will get a grip but looks like he’s got his work cut out

Oh my. It was clear how this game would pan out by the first 15 minutes. Such a clusterfeck of players not believing in themselves.

That's all well and good but a risky pass is to be considered risky if it's a tight lane, marked player, long switch, etc...
Many of the risky passes today and previously there was not a United player in the proximity of the pass unless they were passing to George Best.

I have no idea how Phil Jones after 2 years out managed to write off Lindelof and Maguires United careers off in one game.

Jones, De Gea and Varane were excellent. The rest were trash.

Ralf needs to play a formation where midfield have a chance. 4231 or 433. This stupid accommodating Ronaldo has to stop. It's one striker needed. Ronaldo or Cavani and not both.

Not surprised we conceded a goal to the second lowest scoring team in the league (13 goals in 18 games prior to today) and not surprised we couldn't score against the second best defence in the league (14 goals conceded in 18 games prior to today). Same old problems....

Dreadful performance from start to finish.
I dont even see what we are trying to do.No pressing and zero control.
Hoping Greenwood had a knock or else that was a terrible sub.

Dominated by Wolves and a deserved win for them.

Happy for Jones who had a good game along with De Gea and Varane.

Roy Keanne predicted that the same players who refused to play for Mourinho would let Ole down in the same way, and he was right. To my mind, no matter what the players think of the manager they have a duty to the supporters to always play the best they can but too many of our players just dont seem to care.

Seems some here discover Cavani. He couldn't dribble even if his life depended on it. On rare occasion he'll have moments of brilliance and display good passes but other than that,he's not that kind of player. He's almost exclusively a finisher and the less he touches the ball before shooting, the better it is.

I saw someone here comparing him to Rooney, it's ludicrous.

I hope it’s just due to lack of training but I have to admit I’m a little worried. Why did he take Greenwood off when he was one of the better players? How did he not take Matic or McTominay off who were both gash? Why does he just bring on more forward players instead of trying to get a platform to create? On the flip side he didn’t bring Rashford straight into the team and he did change the formation second half so at least he’s somewhat proactive. He also analyses the issues very well in the post match. If he could match his actions to his words we’ll be fine. Right now I feel like he’s trying to force us to play his formation yet he realises we don’t have the fitness to press which is essential for that formation to work. We don’t have the midfielders who can control possession and we don’t have the defenders to push up or provide width. Finally, we don’t have the forwards to press either. So the question is why is he still forcing no us to play it? To compound that half of our players jog instead of sprinting after the ball when they lose it. And the other half are egos that just want to score. It’s an absolute recipe for disaster yet we continue to keep serving it up. Something’s gotta click shortly I hope.

If this post was written 3 hours ago, it would have included Jones' renewal.

Kneejerk FC.
Yeah right. I have not criticized Jones from what I know but feel free to check my posts.

But if you don’t think the club is giving this big fat contracts away too easily you are burying your head into the sand.

We have one of the highest pay bill in the world and we haven’t won anything in almost 10 years.

It just tells us we are overpaying massively. Which is even more dangerous with youngsters as they can think too easily they have make it and not work as hard.

But knee jerk FC, probably…maybe it’s you as you have no arguments on the table.

I think some of the big contracts are a problem with regards to getting value for your money but it has absolutely feck all to do with the diabolical performances and state of our football.

Martial (last season) and Maguire would be playing just as shite on half their salary.

I don't know how it has come to this, but I actually miss Pogba in this team. He's more or less the only player we have that actually creates things and has vision - without being sloppy on the ball.

Bruno does aswell, but is too erratic to play in a two-man midfield. He is too inconsistent aswell on the ball that deep in the field. He is far more effective higher up the pitch, where it doesn't have the same implications too lose the ball or try something risky. I know a lot of the same can be said about Pogba, but he has shown before that he can be a bit more disciplined than most of us remember him for.

And believe me, I've wanted him booted out of this club for years now. Just says a lot about our performances lately that I miss him.

If we actually played good and the scoreline was the same, i could take. Very worrying how poor we were. Wolves deserved to win by two or three.

If Pogba could retain the ball under pressure which Verratti and Modric can, we would have a really good MF. But he gets caught out in possession too often.

Clearly a game between an organized team and a team who looks like a Dr Frankenstein creation in terms of playing style.

Great to see Jones playing again.
What was wrong with Ronaldo today? He moved around like a deer on ice skates.
I didn't like Ralf's team selection today, didn't like Greenwood coming off, didn't like Rashford again doing nothing, didn't like AWB not knowing how to cross a ball.
Poor performances everywhere.

I cannot understand how Rangnick comes out after the match and says the problem was Wolves essentially played with four or five MFs and gained control of the match by doing that. Surely the video analysis of the opposition two days ago would have show Wolves would play like this, to which he then would counter by making some tactical switch before the game and not during the game.

If this were City we would have been hammered in that first half.

Edit: Maybe he is trying to fit in the attackers. Sancho and Greenwood and Cavani and Ronaldo. It failed badly in the first half though.

There's a bit of slagging on Ralf going on that I believe is misplaced. The XI was about right, although I would have gone with Donny over Scotty, who really was pure shit tonight. But going with Scotty was on some level a defensible decision. In the end it was the midfield that just wasn't able to pull any strings whatsoever.

The back line did its job. Yes, we conceded a goal but it was yet another one of those career-worldie goals we seem to always cough up against clubs like Wolves. But how on earth we're unable to establish anything like cohesive play comes down to the players. Even if the Glazers called up one of us clowns to manage United the players should be able to create something on the back of pure instinct if nothing else.

We're in Dark Ages now and there's no light at the end of this tunnel. Two weeks ago I was sure we'd land fourth place. Now I have my doubts about landing sixth place.

When you have overpaid players all over the pitch who think it’s alright because they are playing for Manchester United and are well paid, I think it’s a problem.
The club treats them as stars players when they have proved nothing for the club. So why should they be arsed ? It’s human nature. If you are not challenged you are less likely to give the best you can. A player as Ronaldo who can challenge themselves on a daily basis is very rare.

Maguire is an exemple of how we are mismanaged : overpaid players, overpaid transfers becoming the captain of a club while he just arrived and never proved anything at this level. How this guy can become the captain of the biggest club of English football ?

I know mate, that’s why I lost all hope of him long ago.

All I’m saying is, that right now I would prefer the risk he plays with, instead of having players in there who slow our tempo down and cannot be relied on to create anything offensively.
