Aston Villa Football Club (nicknamed Villa, The Villa, The Villans, and The Lions) is a professional football club based in Aston, Birmingham. The club were formed in March 1874, by four members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel. The four founders were Jack Hughes, Frederick Matthews, Walter Price and William Scattergood. The first match was against the local Aston Brook St Mary's Rugby team. The club were soon playing the modern version of football though and won its first FA Cup in 1887. Aston Villa were one of the dozen teams that competed in the inaugural Football League in 1888 with one of the club's directors, William McGregor being the league's founder. Aston Villa emerged as the most successful English club of the Victorian era

Villa are one of only five English clubs to have won the European Cup, in 1981–82. They have also won the Football League First Division seven times, the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup five times, and the UEFA Super Cup once. At the end of the 2018–19 season, Aston Villa had also spent 105 seasons in the top tier of English football. The only club to have spent longer in the top flight are Everton, with 116 seasons, making Aston Villa versus Everton the most-played fixture in English top-flight football. Aston Villa's arch-rivals are Birmingham City, with games between the two clubs known as the Second City Derby. Historically though, West Bromwich Albion have arguably been Villa's greatest rivals. Villa also enjoy less heated local rivalries with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City. Aston Villa have been playing their home games at Villa Park since 1897.

1 thing is for certain, after this game it'll be one less competition we think we can win

Stevie G will celebrate like winning the premiership he never won

Who still cares….we’ll make them look world class and Gerrard will have them fired up like you wouldn’t believe. McGinn will tear us apart on his own ffs.

I‘d go with this lot for this one,

    ……………..Henderson
    Dalot…Varane….Maguire…Telles
    ……….…………Fred
    ……….DVB……………McT
    Sancho…..Greenwood….Rashford

I’d like Bruno over McT but he can’t seem to keep his midfield position and drifts far too much.

Couldn’t give any less of a shit about the FA Cup. Don’t care if we lose, we need to go balls to the wall in the PL and try to get as far as possible in Europe.

You'd pick Maguire over Jones or Lindelof?

    Shaw and McT suspended.
isn't that just for the PL?

    Ah got ya.

I'd personally take this competition seriously. Our only shot at silverware.
I know, I’ve lost all hope with them now to be honest, it’s just the same crap every game. We have the most stupid players making the totally wrong decisions nearly everytime.

I’m so dejected right now and can’t see much changing so why is it I’ll still be excited for this match before kick off. Mental.

Stevie G will be frothing ahead of this one. He's going to grab a simple and routine win 100%.

    Donny - Fred - Bruno
    Amad - Greenwood - Sancho

    Henderson
    Dalot Lindelof Jones Telles
    Fred
    Van de Beek Bruno

    My hope:
    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Varane Telles
    Bruno Matic Fred
    Sancho Greenwood Rashford

Cavani and Ronaldo just need dropping right now. Not providing anything off the ball or on it. Shame Shaw is suspended. Not sure what anyone can do other than sit and hope something just clicks, but it's very much blind faith so far. I think Ralf absolutely needs to drop Ronaldo/Cavani... Nothing wrong with Ronaldo's attitude, but he's 36, he's never been a striker, and he can't fulfill the role we need him to do.

Amad won't play here, he went to the AFCON with Ivory Coast.

More control in MF needed. So a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3.

We have not been good bar one match against Palace.

Wouldn't have Ronaldo anywhere near the team. The attack didn't look anywhere near this disfunctional last season.

    De Gea
    Dalot - Mengi - Varane - Telles
    Donny - Mejbri
    Amad - Shoretire
    Greenwood - Elanga

The season is a fecking write off now. Feck most of these overpaid layabouts off and just play the kids (De Gea, Varane, Donny and Greenwood can stay).

That's genuinely exactly what I want to see in the PL (with De Gea for Henderson).

Fred holding midfielder is a disaster waiting to happen.
