Lord SInister, the post was obvious not addressed to you, but to the guy below you - cyberman.

FootballHQ,
sorry but this is completely untrue and highly biased post trying to not give credits, where credits is due.

Nuno had 8 wins, 2 draws and 7 loses. They scored 22 goals and conceded 23. On top of that they were dead last in pretty much most of the stats in PL, for example:

Attack:
Shots wise they were dead last - 20th
Direct speed(meters per second) - 1.23 = 19th
Goals scored - 9 = 19th

Defence:
Goals conceded - 16 - 16th
Distance covered per game - 99km - 20th
Defeats by 3 or more goals - 3 = 20th

You can do the work and compare them to how they are under Conte now. They were the laziest team in the PL and i was almost sure he got no chance to make them work harder, yet he somehow managed to do them.

Have in mind that how much they run/cover/etc. is also bound to how good of a pre-season they have. And Conte can't do much about that in the middle of the season. Tottenham will be a completely different team next season with a pre-season from Conte.

Conte was the best available manager by far and it's a huge pity we didn't go for him. He was our ticket to a PL title in the near seasons.

Every fanboy and Fifa player that dream about that "beautiful" style that don't work in PL, unless you spend 1 billion and have 2x11 top starters like Guardiola. Erik ten Hag is the next Frank De Boer.

He was playing highly attacking football won 4 titles with Ajax in a row, which is nothing spectacular in Eredivise, he come to PL and was fired in a record time with 4 loses out of 5 matches with just 2 scored and 8 conceded goals.

How did Andre Villas-Boas did in PL ? Terribly.

Just an 18 month contract, though reckon Levy will probably want to extend it
18month is a norm nowadays for interim managers - Tuchel also came in with a 18month contract and then got extended.
As for as Conte, he holds all the cards. If Conte gets Spurs to CL, then Levy will offer him the contract, as long as both are on good terms.

15 points from first possible 24 points isn't a "horrendous" start ffs.

Try 2 points from 8 games as you had when Redknapp came in 08/09.

I actually think you'd be pretty similar shape in table if Nuno was still there tbh although given way crowd turned in the Man. United game and Conte suddenly wanting the job and it became easy decision to dismiss him.
If Nuno was still here we would have been no where close to where we are now. The performances under Conte are night and day.

Great coach/manager. A little 'pragmatic' for my taste but a real winner. I'd be amazed if he doesn't fall out with levy over available transfer funds at some point though.

I think you'd have beaten Norwich under Nuno just like you beat likes of Watford, Wolves and us under him. And likes of Leeds and Brentford would've remained winnable home games under him. Probably Palace aswell given they really didn't want to play last week.

Seems to be this idea Nuno left Spurs around the bottom 3 or something....you were 8th and the grand total of 2 points off 4th.

Ten Hag may well fail abroad, who knows, but he's no Frank De Boer.

Ten Hag's Ajax has played awesome matches in Champions League against top level opponents, consistently during the years, while De Boer's was constantly criticized in Holland, despite continous domestic success, for its simplistic gameplay

I’m basing my assessment on watching that team play under him more than the results, which we’re getting worse and worse.

I still hold my point, he's a great manager for the short term. He is improving and will continue to improve Spurs but will definitely fall with them. There's no way he's stays more than 2 years and he won't win any major title being realistic Spurs squad is not good enough for it.

He would've been great for us if we we're looking for the short term approach which wouldn't have been the worst idea considering we have players such as Cavani, Varane and Cristiano who are not getting any younger.

But at the same time it gives me more hope that we've choose Rangnick which indicates were taking the long term approach and we're aiming to restructure the whole club. Hopefully it pays off.

I tend to agree. If we really look at the facts, we see the following:

Conte has had eight jobs in management prior to Spurs and only once has he stayed longer than two years (at Juventus for four).

In most cases, Conte has left whenever a better opportunity opened up or, once he arrived at bigger clubs, if he felt that club was not allowing him to compete at the highest level for the biggest trophies.

Spurs have very little chance of competing for the biggest trophies in the next couple years due to their squad quality, the incredibly high standard set by City in the league, and also the high likelihood that Kane and Son will start declining soon (if they have not already begun to slip from their top level).

The big uncertainty is what other opportunities open up for Conte. But even if Spurs make top four next year, I wouldn't be sure that would induce him to sign a longer contract. While Daniel Levy may just dream about getting back into the CL and potentially bagging a domestic cup sometime in the next couple years, Conte's ambitions are much bigger than that. He wants to win leagues and CLs and he has left much bigger clubs than Spurs if he felt that his ability to do so was being compromised.

In the end, this is a short term marriage of convenience, not a long term relationship.

With Spurs budget and resource, challenging/competing for title should not be used to measure his success at the club. The expectation should be realistic and I believe Conte is well aware of that when he took on the spurs job. A top 4 finish is a success for him.

There are no long term job for manager either. Most managers stay between 2 to 4 years at one club nowadays. Pep and Klopp are the minority due their success with City and Liverpool. Chelsea never has a long term manager and has no negative impact on their success. That is the job for the DOF.

That's exactly how I view it.

I dont see Conte winning major titles because his main success have come from winning leagues, and thats nearly impossible to do in the premier league with Pep's city at least for Spurs. In europe his record is really poor for whatever reason, so I dont see them challenging in the UCL either (if they qualify for next year's of course).

I think Conte pondered the fact that staying away from managing for too long would diminish his chances of managing a top club again. Choosing Spurs gives him exposure for his next big job. While the bar for succeding at Spurs is a gray area, no one is expecting him to win anything major so unless he's outside top 6 it will be really hard to argue that he failed there.

I think Conte's next job will be between Juve, Madrid and PSG. PSG being less likely since their whole approach is the UCL.

The manager not many wanted but the one we so badly needed.
He wouldn't stand for this abomination we've become. The man literally said he'd prefer to kill a player who didn't work hard for him.
I'd love to unleash that on this bunch of useless b**tards we have to watch every week.

That’s precisely why we didn’t go for him. The board (and many fans) are scarred with Mourinho-PTSD and assume that any manager who has extremely high standards and rules with a bit of an iron fist is going to rock the boat too much for a very chilled squad + board we have in place.

Anyone else feel his 'impact' is being over exaggerated? I think it's purely based off of the game against Liverpool as well where Liverpool had no VVD and played a suicidal high line where Spurs' long ball just got them in time and time again

Our players have their camps complaining to their press friends about having to drive home from training after 5pm. One week of Conte's double sessions would have our dressing room in full revolt.

They're leaking like the Old Trafford roof under Rangnick. Under Conte the leaks would be a flood. Our squad isn't fit for purpose. They all want it easy.

He hasn't even had a transfer window yet and they already look top 4 contenders.

I'd say they look top 4 contenders due to everyone else's form. Even if you can understand West Ham not staying the pace we've obviously been inexplicably bad

he's definitely made an impact, certainly in regards to goals scored, and also in work rate. Commentator mentioned in recent game that under Espirito Santo their average distance covered was 100km, which was the least in league to now 114km which is the most. Like any manager, his impact will be over exaggerated after a good win and the reverse after a loss.

They can only beat who's in front of them and they've won 5 of their last 7, the other 2 results were draw vs Leicester and Liverpool.

And a number of those wins have been unconvincing hence my opening point

Conte's spurs away form has been awful. 1 game won out 5 (including this game) which was a last minute winner against Watford. Its more worrying given that they've played some fodder (Mura, Southampton, Watford, Everton). I can definitely see them dropping more points when they play better teams away

He can't work miracles with that squad.

The only eye-catching performance was against Liverpool but then you remember they had two weeks off.

Your point was them being contenders due to everyone else's form, not Spurs performances.
No my point was about his impact being over exaggerated a point you replied to but also completely ignored with your top 4 contenders nonsense

What about the result vs Southampton didn’t they draw that?

An average of 2,25 points per game in 8 games (might not say much but equal 86 points in 38 games). Only City has been better in that time period.

They had 15 points from the first 10 games. So I think it is fair to say that their results have improved significantly since he arrived. Even more so, I think the way their general play has improved alot!

100%. I hate to use the agenda word as its just meaningless on here now, but its people desperate for him to have been amazing to prove a point. They've not been that good, and I doubt many praising him have actually watched Spurs play beyond the good performance against Liverpool. They might get better, but thus far, the shitting mars bars over Conte has been utterly bizarre.

Results have been better, they were rock bottom before, but its nothing sensational.

Yeah because you're talking shit. How can his impact be 'over exaggerated'? They're winning games of football and are unbeaten in the PL under him, you can't over exaggerate form like that, what utter nonsense.

He’s a domestic freak. He’s always been dog shite in cups. Their only losses under him are in the conference and the Carabao.

He took over a side whose best player didn’t even look like he knew how to kick a ball anymore until about 2 months ago and he’s averaging 2.25 points per game in the PL.

Complete and utter domination. Against a rotated Chelsea side that didn't even need five at the back, or a holding midfielder.

Honeymoon over.

firstly your post has been reported for the insult

secondly in the context of what the media are saying in terms of his impact he's had that impact has been over exaggerated
