What about extra buttons side buttons etc?
You just map them in game like you always would

The main problem is not all games support it. Apex, Battlefield etc. don't. Cod and Halo are spot on though.

I've heard people say the tick rate on consoles is an issue but hasn't bothered me. I wouldnt know any better though.

Turn off smoothing/acceleration in game settings too to Lambs point.

Better support then i expected not sure it will be as well supported on Playstation.

Tick rate is serverside with crossplay on these games i can't see how this wouldn't be the same all round.

All of that is in-game mind, there's no native settings on xbox.

Maybe it wasn't tick rate but something else.

Yeah, so thankfully this gen has more support. Makes sense as it was getting a bit much with those cheat machines last gen. Probably still a thing to get auto-aim though, kids be kids.

Tick rate, fps, hz are all relevant things, but I doubt anyone who isn't a sweat or coming from PC cares about all that.

Because you have a PS5, and depending on your expectations Quest 2 might leave you underwhelmed. Depends on what you're looking for I guess. Quest is based on a mobile phone chipset, its great but PSVR2 and PS5 will show it up and with the recent news its reasonable to expect it this year. Wait and then make your mind up...

Not into VR at all so somehow it passed me by…but why is the new psvr not wireless? Seems like a major oversight by Sony

Because, based on specs, the PSVR2 looks to be a big step forward from the Quest.

Twice the resolution, eye tracking and I’m really looking forward to what the sensory things will add.

Is it wireless? Will it have support for as many games as Quest?

I have a Quest 1 which I was bored of within a week, but the Quest 2 seems to be a huge step up on that and has a ton of games. As Lambs said earlier, you have the option of hooking it up to a PC to play some of the more demanding games. There's the Quest 3 coming too which seems a good option.

To me, VR is actually a really social thing. You obviously need to chromecast it to the tv so people can see what you're doing, but once you've done that it's a lot of fun taking turns, swapping round, sharing the experience. I wouldn't really play it much at home on my own. I've got quite a few mates with Quests so there's also multiplayer across multiple headsets to consider. The problem with a wired VR is that you'd need to take the ps5 with you - I can't take it into work or round a mates/family members house easily.

Cost and comfort, and wireless is not 100% reliable yet. They will probably release a wireless version in the future. Personally, I don't see the big deal, no cables would be better but just one is fine.

Well don't say I didn't warn ya.

Yes it's wireless but all the best games will be on the one made by the gaming company with decades of experience. You won't be getting anything like Astrobot or the new Horizon VR. Hell you'll be lucky to get anything like Half Life Alyx again judging by the imminent death of PCVR in favour of mobile/Quest style gaming. You have most of the PCVR people saying they're day one on PSVR2, and you already have a PS5 but no PCVR capable PC? Any big PC games will get ported over as they do now (but easier due to specs and hardware), and how expensive is a good VR capable GPU nowadays anyway? No brainer right? Seriously look into it!

To me this is really one of those situations where you could be gutted that you got a Quest instead of a PSVR2, but as it's you, the bitterness would be somewhat entertaining. So go for whatever one...

If it was that well supported I'd just buy a psvr aswel mate. The first one didn't do much for me and I've been burnt by Sony before with the Vita.

Facebooks going big on metaverse. I'm not worried about that being supported well. But yeah.. maybe it misses out on a couple of blockbusters if Sony get behind it properly.

Couldn't give a shit when MS bought Zenimax. Kind of don't care about the current Activision Blizzard acquisition, but if they can turn current Blizzard back into a good game developer again, that will be massive.
I think they'd have to make the games console exclusives at the minimum to force people over on xbox platform, but that is definitely a move that has potential.

They can't do any worse then what happened with Rare.

Been so much talk in here around Gamepass model encourages live service and multiplayer games which is a route PS owners had no interest in, and now Sony have said they plan to launch 10 live service games in the next 4 years.. love it.

It was inevitable they would go down that road at some point, the revenue streams are too obvious to leave on the table. As long as it's not detrimental to the big single player studios, as in, they keep the usual content coming and don't find a way to shoehorn live services into that, it's all good.

Agree with this. If the platforms offer more stuff that isn't really an issue. I might not care for destiny, halo and the likes but a lot of people do, as long as I keep getting final fantasy, the witcher, hollow knight, God of war etc, I won't be talking down others getting entertainment.

Then again, is stop buying playstation if they stopped producing good single player games.

Console wars are shit now. In the 90s I argued with my cousin whether Nintendo or Sega existed first. Google ruined everything.

It’s possible to have both. Xbox doesn’t have any, or rather very few, single player, story driven games. I expect that to change in the coming years, however (which is good!).

This again...

Is it not a story when I'm wiping the barnacles off my ship while preparing for my next intersea voyage?

Is it not a story when I'm screeching the wheels as I do a sweet drift after landing from atop a long lost Mayan ruin?

Is it not a story when I'm navigating the walls of a bug infested lair that holds the power up I need to get to the next section of the map?

Maybe you need to check your story definition privilege. Pal.

Been inevitable since before PS5 launched unfortunately with the partnerships announced - and it is something we as a fanbase have acknowledged the past few years so it isn't like it is unexpected. Bright side is the majority of those 10 are from deals with third party studios or first party studios with multiple teams so though there'll be a number of live service games, we will still have the more platform traditional single player story driven games like Ragnarok, Forbidden Dawn, Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.

The live service games are also likely to be more spread in terms of genre. We've already got Dreams as one and MM are rumoured to be making another, Gran Turismo for the racing crowd.

Dreams is an interesting game to mention. It looked really good and I heard some great things but it never seemed to get the recognition it deserved.

I suppose it came out at an awkward time, late in the PS4's lifespan.

Same as Media Molecules previous games LittleBigPlanet reviewed as one of the best games ever in the media by nearly everyone.

A number of hugely talented people have made some incredible things on both LBP and Dreams but for the average user (myself included) when you try and make your own game/level its starts off with endless possibilities and you intend to make something incredible in reality it ends up as a very very bad basic platformer and there is only so many mini games you can play of other people when you can't create anything yourself.

MM have given it a lot of support with free DLC but yeah, so far it hasn't got that recognition. There have been suggestions that they should put it on Spartacus or PC but live service games usually have a revenue stream and that is a difficult thing to do with Dreams as it is especially with the various IP infringement going on in games made. Don't have it myself but seen videos of some amazing experiences.

Bungie have expertise in live service games and though I imagine the aim is for them to help the new live service games being made last long term, maybe they'll have insight into what can help Dreams too. Will be a while before that acquisition is complete though.
