So just to confirm I understand this right, we play Spurs away with some Covid cases including Van Dijk. We don't ask to postpone the game and get on with it. We then play Chelsea without Klopp and three more Covid cases (also away) but again don't ask to postpone the game and get on with it.
We then come up against the mighty Arsenal and think "crap, better fake some Covid cases. No way we can take on them right now." We go all out and close the training ground to make sure there's no suspicion of foul play.
Klopp then openly says we had some false positives which later turned out to be negative cases, thinking "there's no way anyone will investigate my master plan", all so that we can have the home leg first and play Arsenal a week later than we were going to anyway, knowing full well we still won't have Mane or Salah available.

It all sounds completely feasible.

Don't forget, according to that Athletic article we must also be paying off the NHS to fake lab tested PCRs for us.

Just embrace it mate, way funnier to see oppos get worked up about us again rather than feeling indifferent like it used to be.

I mean it’s so brilliant. Move the first leg which was away from home to three days before an away game against Palace, instead of where it was originally, three days before a home game against Shrewsbury. So clever.

The club didn’t know when the game would be rescheduled to. It could have been anytime before the Final on 27th February. Rolled the dice and it backfired nicely, meaning they’ve had to come out and show their fake hand.

Jurgen Klopp's many years of evil-doing is finally at an end. He's finally going to get his comeuppance, along with accomplices Mane and Salah. The obligatory 4-game ban for Evra is an unfortunate side effect but understandable.

The lifetime ban from football awaiting Klopp won't be such a big deal anyway, as Stevie Slips is more than ready to step in by all accounts. It'll be a seamless transition, you'll see ;)

Aha so Klopp has the Arsenal game postponed then realizes that the second leg is now only a few days before Palace away, so inexplicably decides to reveal his failed plot to the entire world!

When you really think about it, it doesn't really make any sense does it.

We can play bingo on who you'll loan him out to. Maybe make a super six out of it and see who can guess the next six clubs he'll be loaned to actually.

I don't know who he is by the way and find it extremely random that Bournemouth are linked with a player alongside Chelsea and Liverpool.

I forgot what thread I was in. Meant this to be in the transfer thread. We have plenty that have gone on loan and are starting right now. Not all will develop enough to come back. All are really happy to have professional careers. When you have an academy that is producing the abundance of players we are right now and an eye for talent, they all need minutes somewhere. People have been ranting about our loan army for years and they keep coming.

How many of those actually break into your first team? I guess Mount was the most successful and recent one? Oh and Reece James as well.

Just Liverpool being a scummy club again. Sure it'll be promptly ignored by everyone shortly and barely mentioned on tv.

Christensen, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Mount, James, Abraham, Tomori, Chalobah, have all had significant minutes with the first team in the last two years after being out on loan. Going back to 2003, 50 academy graduates have played games with the first team but I am not sure how many of those were just preseason games? With the massive loan army we have it is amazing there are not disgruntled players. I think most know they will never develop into starting XI players for a large club but still like how Chelsea treats them. Something that gets mentioned here and there but probably not enough is when they get injured with a small club we send physios and medical staff to take care of them, something they might not get at a small club. If the injury is significant they are brought back for rehab. Not everyone will develop to a starter for a big club, but these kids are not discarded, Chelsea does a good job placing them where they will have a professional career.

Cheats in what way and for what benefit again?
Extra rest for their first team players possibly, they knew the Fa Cup game was another rest date, so with some key players missing they can rest the majority of the first team after a bruising encounter with Chelsea?

One would imagine that it's been two years of the pandemic and people have learnt that taking precaution over positive tests is not cheating.

That eventually with further testing, those initial tests turned out to be false positives. But those tests were done later, as is the norm. Sometimes coming back with no Covid in later tests is also the norm.

Klopp and his medical staff are not Wizards to see into the future.
If anything, it's admirable on his part to disclose the false positives, when he could have just kept that a secret.

You're such a WUM who can't back up his claims once he's called out about them, silly really. At least most of us know that about you by now.

Yep, Liverpool FC, get a game postponed for one Covid case! Just happened to be when they lose their best attackers to afcon, just a coincidence I'm sure......

Seriously now --- I saw this on Twitter yesterday and from a usually reliable source.
But wasn't the Arsenal game much before Afcon ?

It was scheduled to be played on the 6th January. The Liverpool AFCON players flew out after the Chelsea game which was on the 2nd January. I remember seeing a social media pic Sadio Mane posted of him on the plane in his Liverpool tracksuit

Ahh thanks Damien.
So it could make sense that they actually didn't want to play the game without them and only had one player of the remaining squad with covid??
Just thinking loudly now.

I like the way you sneaked “benefit” and “cheats” into a sentence about Liverpool. Bravo
Yeah that was an excellently disguised punch in the mouth under the pretense of sticking up for the Liverpool fans. I see your game, Cheimoon :D

Except that we will still play the game without them.

It was a game in a cup which Klopp has perennially neglected, against Arsenal, who we have an excellent record against under Klopp, and who lost to Nottingham Forest a few days later. We could also rest almost our entire squad after the Arsenal game because we had Shrewsbury at home the game after. If we wanted to fake a Covid outbreak we would've done so a long time ago during the festive period or a few days before against Chelsea away, not this game.

Now we will play the Arsenal game 3 days before an away game to Palace, a side we've struggled against at their ground, whilst very likely still without our AFCON players. Not to mention we also lost the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

There are at least as many arguments to be made, if not more, that we are worse off now rather than we have benefited from the postponement. Unless someone wants to argue we wanted the Arsenal game postponed so we could have more rest before we had to play... Shrewsbury at home with still half of our first team not in the squad or on the pitch.

The lengths of which some on here will go to in order to accuse Liverpool of cheating, based on a protocol followed for the safety of our AND Arsenal's players during a global pandemic, truly is baffling to me.

It's hardly very sensational news if a couple of antigen tests turned out to be false positives. They're not that reliable, it happens all the time. PCRs aren't 100% either.
