First off, amazing thing you actually won the CL with anything but a world-class team, think the last time I managed that was in FM 2017 with an exploit tactic, where I won the CL with Darmstadt.

But yeah that seems a bit weird, that you are not getting any job offers, one would think pretty much any top PL club would at least offer you job interviews as often as they need new managers. I'm also a bit weirded out about job offers. After 3 seasons at Bremen where I managed a 2. league win, a DFB-Pokal team and two top 4 finishes, with a team that's quite shite I would expect at least one of the medium quality teams would at least consider me. Tottenham, who I kicked out of the CL, for example they hired a new manager a couple of days ago and didn't even invite me for an interview, high and mighty bastards probably think they can do better than me.
I think you very rarely get an interview of any kind if you don't declare interest/apply for jobs. It's just weird.

My team that I built in Wien was probably the best in the world to be fair though, was probably my best team ever.

Seems this way. Ten Hag had left Ajax for Atletico, I applied, and they actually hired me. But yeah clubs don't seem to approach you a lot themselves.

Weirdly enough they have an ancient squad somehow, but I'm going through the youth setup looking for some gems.

It makes no sense.

My rightvwonger finished Jan with 17 goals to his name. Finished the season with 18.

How does this happen?? Every single year? How do I stop it? I'm open to suggestions
Tbh if you're getting that return from a right winger then you must be doing something right. The AI is constantly trying to adapt to your tactics but the downturn does seem rather big.

You could maybe post your tactics for people to have a gander at.

Must've applied for about 20 jobs before I got an interview.
Gyeongnam have seen that I'm worth the risk and given me the job of getting them into the South Korean 2nd division playoffs with 7 games left of the season. Won our first 2 games giving us an outside chance at the title. We'll see how it goes.

Are you keeping up with the players fitness levels? I play a gegenpress that really needs a 23 strong squad so I can rotate in and out.

Is there a chance you are playing tired players (they can be tired even with green hearts), and that is causing them to make worse decisions and get beaten second half in games?

Yeah, I always rotate. I keep my players sharp where I can. even with a small squad. it's a struggle sometimes but for 2 or 3 games. Not the first of feb until the end of may.

I will sort the squad out now. i'm going to be a ruthless cnut. Then i'll think about playing season 9 later, maybe.

Bétis Update

We are going well in the league again, rotation working out and learning which players are my best ones and who I can trust. It looks like Madrid are going to be the challengers this season. They are right on our tail going into the new year and Barcelona have sacked Xavi after a horrendous first half of the season. I didn’t even apply for the job! Even though they have a few stars that I could never afford, I think we have the most well rounded squad.

It’s a balancing act to strengthen and hold onto our best young players while keeping ourselves below the registration wage limit. We didn’t go for any pre-contract players because they all wanted a fortune to sign and I couldn’t guarantee that I could register them.

Our only unhappy player at the moment is Kada, our DLP and best midfielder. He is a mercenary and wants to leave. I have told him he can go if someone meets his £62 million asking price. PSG and Madrid are sniffing around.

Our Champions’ League group was the worst possible kind. Two giants and one lesser team the other two are sure to beat. We drew Bayern, Newcastle and Besiktas. We lost the opener away at Toon, but managed a draw in Germany. We had three great wins at home to see us through second in the group on the last day. No away wins, which is a worry for final stages. Milan are up next in the last sixteen.

It’s going to be a quiet January, but Odeye, a player from our youth team, asked to be listed. I just didn’t trust him in important games and kept him around because of registration rules. Silvio Luiz, Dalgaard, Sanchez and Barone all become homegrown in July, so when PSV bid an insane £22 million for him, we let him go.

We used the cash to bring in Nehruen Perez from Atletico, who is still only 28 and was keen to leave. Got him for well below his value, at only £20 million. For comparison, Liverpool wanted £80 million for wantaway Gomez!

New signings have settled in well. Marquinhos is a calming influence at the back and Valverde is fantastic as an all action midfielder. After a slow start, Cucurella is nailed on at left back and our Turkish youngster, Yildrum, is looking good at right back. Christensen, our young Danish DLP with ok stats, has really surprised me and has jumped ahead of the queue in midfield.

The only issue is with Palacios, who looks like being a transfer mistake and has failed to impress so far. He has 5 months to stake his claim because wages have to be justified at a club our size.

I contemplated selling Efe, our Turkish Wonderkid, in the summer after an average first season, but he is starting to really come into his own with some crucial last minute winners. Slowly becoming a favourite!

As we move into January, focus now turns to defending our Copa del Rey and trying to extend our lead in La Liga before the CL starts again. Silvio Luíz has 24 goals so far and won the Balon D’or for the first time! :D

We are a better team than last season, but we will never have the resources to get those top stars with amazing stats, but I have such a fondness for the group we have brought through together. The save looked doomed when I was at Oviedo B! Let’s see what we can achieve this season…

I can see why you are up and down in the National League. I got promoted with Dulwich Hamlet last season but we will likely need a couple of seasons at this level to get it right and be promoted. There seems to be a fair amount of decent sized clubs for this level! Or should i say clubs that you'd traditionally place in League 2 - League 1 i.e Grimsby, Notts County, Yeovil, Chesterfield, Stockport, Torquay, Stevenage etc. Difficult for a low budget side to cope though. We have a 3k stadium which would be fine in one of the smaller european leagues but most sides in the league have stadiums that are 5k +. Also, Weymouth are bottom.

Yeah I think there is definitely a bottle beck in the National League. There are probably about 10 really good teams and all of them can’t go up. Whereas in League Two, there can be a surprising amount of fodder with only A few teams going down each year.

The good news is that once you are up, there is every chance that you will already have a team good enough to compete at the top of League Two.

National League definitely one of the hardest this year to get out of. Lollujo usually walks it and was stuck in non-League for 6-7 years this time around.

The media always introduces my Kuban side as 'Penniless Kuban'. Constantly rubbing it in ffs.

Managed to add some quality to the team, using all 5 loan spaces, and had to make sure they were loans that didn't require any wage/fee contribution. But still the squad quality is pretty shite.

Got smashed by Spartak Moscow's B team in the opening game but recovered well to draw and then win in our last 2. I'm playing a counter-attacking narrow 5-4-1 (with full backs, not wing backs - so very defensive!), and our play has been pretty terrible so far but results haven't been bad at all.

I've gotten my squad to the point where I can rotate and still have a really strong team, but of course now I have players coming to me weekly asking to start more games. I'm saving you for the harder ones you idiot!

My LB just complained about not starting enough games. He's been injured for the last two ffs.

I think this feature is broken on this version. As you say you have to rotate at times as a top side because of playing in multiple competitions (especially in the PL) but players are unhappy if they don't start every single fecking game which isn't possible if you want them to stay match fit.

Aye, I saw his Leamington run and sympathise with it a bit. It's definitely more difficult this time around but that makes it more fun.

Also regarding people talking about job offers. I've received three on this save so far, i'm in 2022 and the Conference. In my journeyman save where i'm now in 2030, won two CL titles and multiple league titles I've received a total of one...

I currently have a scenario where one of my midfielders is asking to start more games but simultaneously after every game he plays, my assistant tells me he's jaded and needs a long rest.

Good to know my 8 and a half years haven't been too terrible then.

That is the standard of the league in real life by the way. Its also why we are struggling as badly as we are in real life. Our actual wage budget in £6k a week lower than the next lowest in the league.

In terms of the save and year 9. It's going OK. But we've been here before. We're 4th I'm the middle of December with an FA Cup 2nd round replay against Lincoln of League one. We drew 2-2 away, but we did lead twice.

On one of those runs at the moment. No wins in 4 but I've just gone 15 unbeaten. So I'm not too worried yet.

In the summer I released my 2 ancient centre halves. Both 35 and I wanted fresh blood. I brought 3 in. To compliment the two younger lads I had last season.

I upgraded my goalkeeper, I managed to get him for £8k from Luron (still in the championship) he'll of a drop down for him, but he's been class so far. I kept all 5 of my full backs.

I didn't feel the need to alter the midfield too much, I have an academy lad and two I've brought in. I could use another for freshness I think but I have a lad in the academy that will step up.

My right winger hit 18 goals last season, no need to upgrade there, so I bought ankeft winger on a free who started the game in spurs academy, his name is Ridley Owen and he's on 14 goals this season.

My strikers play in rotation and don't really light things up. 5 each at the moment. Most of my goals come from the wingers. Although that ancient centre half I mentioned earlier.....117 games,...48 goals.

The fundamental flaw of the interaction module, you usually can't say what you want to say. In my Bremen save where players were asking for a new contract despite me having like 9k € room in the wage budget. I couldn't even answer with "Mate I have no money to give you, feck off." No I first had to put my wage budget into negative figures to say that. The fundamental truth is that human interactions are hard enough to get right in real life as it is. Especially in professional working relationships. Of course a game can only fail at portraying it in a realistic manner.

They would have to put a lot more work into these modules to make them feel as if they are somewhat working. But they have pretty much been in the same state since they were introduced.

So I continued with my Auxerre file, even if I was a little half-hearted. Decided I’d look for other jobs throughout the season but nothing came up that I thought I’d get.

Got offered jobs at 2 Ligue 1 clubs but one was definitely getting relegated and the second came as I was on a great run so turned them both down.

Ended up getting promoted automatically but I’m desperate for a decent striker.

My interest in the save is now pretty high so I’ll stick around unless a really good job offer comes around.

Will be my last with Auxerre though as I suspect we’ll really struggle in the higher league.

Compared to my previous season, as my previous write-up, I scored 15 more goals and that led to the promotion compared to barely scoring in the first season and missing out

We have 6 games left and we are currently top. We are also in the FA Trophy semi-finals. Unforunately injuries at this stage have decimated us. We have 15 fit players from an already small squad of 22. A bunch of my players have release clauses in their contracts too so I imagine it might be a rebuild job in the summer. I'd be very very surprised if we got promotion.

Just knocked out my old team Atletico from the CL. It was funny seeing the team i built there mostly still together, including the striker I signed two days before leaving who is now one of the best in the world.

Also had my youth intake through and one of them is 5 star potential. With a squad at the level of mine it must mean he's amazing.

Anyone else getting ridiculous game rearrangements?

I got a cup game rearranged to the middle of an international break and I have 18 players away!!

You think a game as complex as FM would correct that, but no, the game went ahead as normal!!

In January on my return to Fiorentina. Absolutely dominant. Drawn 1 game to Juve and won the rest. Regularly getting 4+ xG per game, beat CL chasing Lazio 10-0 as well. In an awkward spot though as I'm maxed out with my wage budget, don't have great depth but Rafael Leao is 31/32 and my top earner on 300k a week. But he's doing well. Best offer I got for him was 35m from Spurs but he turned them down. Should probably just keep him until the summer and sell him off then, even though he'll just have 1 year left at that point.

Anyway, goal is just to see how dominant I can be in league and CL until the United job opens up, though they never change managers apparently.

On the subject of this. A player left due to a release clause in their contract. In a mini press conference to discuss his departure there is no option to let me say it was because of a release clause in his contract. Nice one FM.

City have bid for one of the world's top strikers, I actually signed him at Atletico.

Don't want them to get him so I've bid for him. Offered a contract and plan to delay as long as possible before cancelling it. Hopefully stops them getting him

The CWC is happening in June and feck me it's decimating my squad. Half of them are on international duty and there's a game every two days ffs.

Had to use my youth prospects against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors which thankfully I still won  Drew City in the Quarters so that gamble has paid off.

Reporter questions are amazing anyways. "The fans are super unhappy you let player X go." Player X barely featured in 2 years. "There is a big amount of concern among the fans that you let promising youngster Y go." He was a 2 1/" star talent, we have 10 4-5 star talents in the youth team, I think we'll survive that loss mate.

I thought they would have addressed this. It’s a good tournament to pick up long term injuries that’s for sure.
