Also he's shown numerous times he can choke-hold someone to sleep almost instantly. It was just a shoddy plot device to justify Harrison shooting him.
Yep. It was what annoyed me most about the ending. It's one thing putting Dexter in a position where he feel like he has to make the choice to kill the officer and for that to prompt Harrisson to turn on him, it's another for them to randomly have Dexter kill the officer just so Harrison can turn on him. It was totally context-less, they could have had Dexter randomly kill anyone at any point for the same outcome.

And they just shoehorned in a random scene where the coach buys him burgers to show the deep connection they have.

Was genuinely shocked that he actually did that, not just imagining it in his head like he's done before. When it became obvious that he did actually do that I was like WTF

I totally expected it to snap back to reality and he think his way out of the situation but

Also, it gets worse. What a shit explaination.

Clyde confirms it on the podcast finale, dexter accidentally breaks his neck when he ducked to dodge the bullet, something about the way he had him in that chokehold…

I hated how they made a point of showing Logan doing things by the book and treating him very cautiously when giving him food but hey, there's 20 minutes left and we need a plot device to progress things to I'll hand him something directly this time and let him kill me...

Indeed. If they were going for that set up then they really should have created a stronger bond between the cop (what's his name anyway ?) and Harrison. Dexter's kid had more connection with the show's main villain tbh
edit: a friend of mine told me the writers found a way to kill the only black character in the most stupid way too.

really bummed they killed him off.

I enjoyed this series immensely. Thought the father/son dynamic gave the show a really fresh feeling that they could have ran with.

I guess he didn’t want to do it anymore, or they only thought it would be good for 1 series?

I really didn’t expect it to happen like that.

To be fair. There’s really no way you could end this and be satisfying or perfect. Especially if it’s only the last episode they start gaining on him. I liked the ending, but It was rushed.

Didn't mind the end in general re. Dexter but so many plot holes and stuff that just made no sense in later episodes it spoilt an enjoyable season a bit.

I was just going to say this. It was out of character for Logan to even break protocol.

To be fair the annoyance for me was he got shot in the leg and was limping through the woods.

Then suddenly his leg was fine and walking around like normal :D but hey we can let those slide I guess.

I enjoyed the season
The final was rushed but still preferred it over the original
Think Dexter dying was the right move but it needed a few more episodes to pad the ending and build to the death

Dexter killing logan was so unnecessary or executed so bad. It wasn't a 'I have no choice' move. For the narrative I can see what they were going for but executed badly

Have no issue with Harrison ending Dexter but again, that's Harrison first kill right?
Unless the plan is a sequel with Dexter being Harrison voice?

Im glad they did this season. There were a lot of stupid stuff and if you break it down you can point out a lot (assuming it's been done in this thread)
Overall I enjoyed it but wish the ending was better but still better than original ending for me

Just finished it.

the finale was genuinely awful but the other nine episodes were enjoyable fluff so I guess it evens out. I’ll allow it. At least there won’t be more.

Why the feck would they tease a reunion with Batista just to blue ball us like that ? They botched the finale even worse than the last one. That takes some doing tbh
This! I was so excited for that conversation! Could have gotten a whole episode just from that.

I don't mind the ending with Harrison breaking the chain, but it was stupidly rushed to get there. Feels like COVID must have played a big role in some of the weird decisions.

Just finished it now and was really enjoying it but just like others I have some disappointment.
I am actually happy that Dexter is finally dead, he should have been killed in the last season already.

But as many have mentioned already, so many plot holes, and opportunities missed.

Billionare
Batista
Annoying eating
Getting shot in the leg and then nothing

The list can go on and on.

If they ever make a spin off with Harrison it will feel like those series that get renewed even though its crap, whereas the good ones get cancelled.

Harrison spin off would only have interest if he becomes Dexter lite with Dexter has his voice?

Apparently plans for a Dexter prequel about the trinity killer

Showtime canceled Dexter: New Blood season 2, but that may be the best choice to protect season 1's ending.
Didn't even know a New Blood season 2 was a possibility. After the final episode I thought it was clearly a one-off thing.

Not sure about a prequel. Dexter without MCH shouldn't be a thing imo, and a Trinity show without Lithgow should be a no-no.

I think it would center around the trinity killer before Dexter.
