I haven't seen him but we pretty obviously need a left-footer RW and apparently Hakim Ziyech must be a compulsive gambler or secret drug addict since we won't buy him.

Seems incredibly low risk in that if we buy him for 25M and he flops we can just sell him to a Champo side in a year or two looking for a proven goalscorer for at least 15M and probably even a bit more.

I just think going for a player like James just because Giggs says he's good whilst Bowen is racking up numbers in a position we are weak in for a near decade now is negligent.

If James was good enough for us then I don't see why Bowen isn't.
I don't know either, but obviously there's something we've seen that made us decide he wasn't worth buying. None of the teams above us went for him either, Spurs paid more for Berjgwin and turned Bowen down.

Yeah and I understand that but spurs didn't exactly go for James either. I just think if we decided that some players were good enough from the championship especially young players - then I don't see why we should turn our nose at one when we are desperate for attackers one transfer window later. I don't see why we should go for Ighalo from the Chinese league rather than taking a punt on this guy.

Anyway its just not going to happen because it makes sense.

Players like Grealish were talked like they were average just a year or two ago developing in the championship & now everyone is dropping pants over them - this guys is a gamble but nearly every transfer is and the championship isn't looking like a bad league these days anymore.

I live near Hull and I've served him in the Co-op I work at a couple of times. I'd have told him to sign for United but I would've felt like a muppet.

Taking a gamble on one player doesn't mean we should take a gamble on other players from the championship. James added frightening pace and came personally recommended by Giggs. I believe he is also younger. Ighalo is again a different type of player and only on loan. I wouldn't object to Bowen, he looks decent, but if the club saw something that's put them off then I'm not going to complain about it as long as we eventually get the right player.

Moyes beat us in terms of getting him. I guess playing under Moyes is much bigger attraction than playing under Ole.

This guy is the real deal. Technically very good and his ball retention is impressive for an attacking player.

I like Dan James but still feel we should’ve taken the punt on Bowen instead.

Is he doing well? I was interested in him because he was a left footed player that I thought we lacked on the right.

3 goals in 4 games so far this season, looks a great buy for West Ham. He looks very dangerous 1vs1 in tight spaces and on the counter also, one to keep tabs on this season.

Shame we didn't go for him instead of James, anyone that had watched him for Hull would've known he'd be a solid buy for the price, as he was not only their best player but one of the best wingers in the Championship.

Thought he was great against us at the end of last season. Really troubled Williams. Looks a great player. Won't be at West Ham for long I don't think

I suggested him when he was at Hull, people here told me he wasnt good enough.
I was the same, some on here just know better I guess

What makes you think he is good enough now?
Because he'd make much more of a positive impact on our RW than James has, who we signed instead. Even as a squad option he'd have been the better option, instead we listened to Giggsy.

It is much better for him staying at west ham playing every week than sitting on the bench in the big club like Daniel James.

He was poor for West Ham last year except against us vs Williams. He’s had a good start but he’s slow and he’s a lower premier league player or championship player I think there rightly would be a revolt if we ever bought him

Wasn't poor for them at all last season. Most of their fans rate him very highly. He definitely shown thus far that he can compete in the PL and is one of West Ham's better players.

Not sure whether he's good enough to go further and join a top side. He would have to develop over the next 1-2 years before that.

I remember him being quite rated in the championship and he seems to have settled well in the PL, getting some decent G+A numbers for West Ham.

Have seen him linked to Liverpool probably as their secondary RW/RF.

Wonder what United fans think of him?

He’s class. Wish we signed him when he was in the Champ.

Was brilliant for Hull, used to love watching him play, he was streets ahead of everyone else at the KCom. Never thought he was quite United quality but he’s done well at West Ham, better than I expected.

I’ll say one thing for him by the way….he’ll fight for every ball and give 100% in everything he does. An overlooked quality that we are sadly lacking at the moment

If Utd sign him, he will turn out crap. If Liverpool sign him, he will be a brilliant signing.

Sure does feel that way. Imagine we signed Jota and they signed Sancho — I’m sure the latter would be replicating his Bundesliga stats and Jota wouldn’t be second top league scorer here

I like him alot. Above average dribbler with an accurate cross and shot.

Could he kick on like when Mane got his move to Liverpool?

2 goals yesterday.

Starting to become a bit of a regular goalscorer.

Budget Salah
Whilst I don't think he will ever be as good as him - he does feel like the player Shaqiri and minamoto was supposed to be for Liverpool as a back up to Salah whether he stays long term or not.

Could have had a hattrick. Hit the post twice too. Ball in the back of the net 3 times.

I call him budget Salah because he makes those same well timed runs and finds a good finish or a pass. I also think he is exactly what Klopp would have wanted as a backup but also a starter quality.

I like him a lot.

He's improved lots over the last 2 years, think he could play for any of the top teams personally.

I think he's the sort of player we are desperate for. Less show ponies and more runners.

I didn't realise he was on 8 goals and 8 assists in the league this year. I think Salah only has better overall stats than him which is very impressive. Has 12 + 11 in 35 for West Ham overall. Wonder if any of the top clubs will be sniffing around him in the summer.
