According to reports United have been trying to sign Mata to a new contract. Which he has declined.

WTH is wrong with the the people running this.
Fecking mental if true, no other way to describe it.

No different to taking £5m and setting it on fire. He's not kicked a fecking ball all year.

Makes you wonder whether Murtough and Fletcher are as criminally incompetent as Judge and the lawyers, or if they have far less power than they should have.

There is something seriously wrong with how this club is being run.

No decision ever seems to make sense and how can millionaires be so incompetent.

I say it again, Glazers are money laundering, it's the only logical explanation.

I really wouldn't believe everything you read, especially from media outlets in Spain

We hired a DOF whose been through this mess from the very beginning and a technical director who was promoted 3 times in 6 months and has like 48 hours of coaching in him. Did you expect things to change?

He'll find the rest in the dance studio with J Lingz taking the class along with Pogz
 Do not forget one very important thing in football. Every player has different secret hand shake with every other player. How many hours of training needed to get it done right, I wonder.

I would imagine that every Premier League player has a top class home gym setup in their own mansions so Cristiano may be doing them a disservice here. If I was a pro baller looking to do extra training I'd probably do it away from Carrington.

Also they might be doing extra stuff with the ball at their feet rather than gym work. If they are, it is probably far more beneficial than overloading on "explosive" training.

Not knocking Ronnie but just because he can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening.
I can probably say with 99% accuracy that this isn't happening purely by watching them on the ball - and if they are, they should stop as they're clearly doing it wrong.

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
Even though he isn’t pulling up trees, Rangnick’s interim period will benefit him in his next role as he’s seeing first hand the absolute state of the club and it’s players. There’s a whole lot of work to be done to rebuild this club.

Can we at least refrain from critisizing people based on rumours? If we do extend Mata, by all means, go ham on them.

What reports?

Or do we believe anything just to have a go?

Why are we trying to keep players we don't want? What's the point in asking VDB and Henderson to stay when they barely play? It's one of the reasons we have a terrible dressing room.

Those who want to leave should be allowed to leave as soon as possible, even on loan. We can then promote youth players until we sign replacements, and it won't make a difference since those players aren't playing anyway. At least it'd help the dressing room a bit.

Yeah, this exactly. I can easily imagine 11 players in this squad that want out (providing that they don't financially suffer mind), and we'd be better off without them. There's a lot of players at the club that aren't good enough for the level we want to be at (sadly not all of those will be wanting to leave) and then there's those that can't handle the challenge either.

I suspect its the financial aspect stopping them from leaving. No other club would offer them silly high contacts like we have. Otherwise they would be out the door.

If this is true then imo Ralf should resign asap.

It has nothing to do with Ralf.

It's the people in charge who make these decisions.
You don't get what I actually mean mate.

What's the point hiring Ralf if the board still make that kind of decision.

I do, but Ralf isn't in charge of transfers and neither was Ole it seems after the VDB situation.

Ronaldo wasn't an Ole signing either.

This is the whole point of having a technical director or whatever messed up version United are going with.

United keep throwing contracts at people for no logical reason.

That's a board decision not managers, especially since Ole has been there.

I didn't blame Ralf for the slightest if that is true. And I know our managers don't have a big say in transfers after Mourinho.

What I mean was Ralf should resign asap because if the board is that stupid he'd only waste his time and ruin his reputation here.

Not really, because the logic would be, give Mata one more year as a squad player, then move him into the coaching setup.

But Mata wants to play football, and probably feels going elsewhere will give him 2 years of regular football maybe in Spain somewhere.

I wouldn’t believe them but you can’t blame fans for falling for it when club has a strong record for making such decisions.
Nah, I get that, but it doesn't help this forum one bit when posters do that. Should be able to think rationally.

Have to say that bringing in a failed MLS manager in the shape of Chris Armas as assistant coach beggars belief. Having Darren Fletcher on the coaching team with zero experience is also totally baffling.

Complaints of overweighted squad, yet we had to put 2 goalkeepers on the bench to make up numbers yesterday. Why did we not bring one or two youngsters into squad.

He should have got his proper assistant, however Lokomotiv wouldn't let him go

I can absolutely believe it.
When you sign up Phil Jones, who everybody knows will play very few games if any, they'll sign anybody.
And as for why Mata declined - perhaps he felt sorry for the fools who are offering contracts to everybody.

It's like saleman who agrees to sell a chocolate teapot to a grandma for £200. After the deal is struck, he feels sorry for the old lady and just walks away, telling her that the chocolate teapots have now sold out.
Remember, Matt Judge and the top brass at MUFC are absolute baffoons.

One the one hand, it would be nice if players did extra work because of an internal drive for success or to benefit their own careers, but they are employees and expecting them to do extra work for their employers is a bit weird. If more training is beneficial and expected, why is it extra training instead of just part of training?
Gym training should not be seen as "extra work".
I work in an office and for the last few months I've been putting in 3hr+ session. It's for myself...not my employer.
In the same way, professional players should see extra training sessions as a way to further improve themselves and not as part of their job.
Being super fit will generally improve their form (especially when geggenpressing), which in turn will increase their value, which in turn could see them get a move to a more successful club.

Its the equivalent of telling a kid to do extra study in the evenings. Why? It's not a requirement. But if he wants to get the very top grades, he'll have to do it.

Firstly, we don't know for sure if any of the players have home gyms. I would suspect not. Logically, it would make sense, but so many things about this club have me in disbelief that I believe that the club's employees all follow the opposite of the logical decision.
Secondly, a home gym cannot compete with a fully equipped gym with multiple machines, racks and other equipment.
If you train at home for 1 week, then attend a fully equipped commercial gym, you'll instantly realise the value of a commercial gym (or in this case, the gym at Carrington).

Also they might be doing extra stuff with the ball at their feet rather than gym work. If they are, it is probably far more beneficial than overloading on "explosive" training.
Well, we play like absolute crap. In long periods of matches, we can barely string more than 3 passes together. We get tired after geggenpressing for 30 minutes. Whatever the players are doing isn't working and they should perhaps adopt the strategy that the GOAT uses.

Not knocking Ronnie but just because he can't see it doesn't mean it's not happening.
If I were a player who is looking to improve himself, I'd copy what the GOAT does. If the GOAT says that he is doing gym training after on-pitch training today, I'm copying him.
I won't become the GOAT, but by copying him, I'll probably improve a heck of a lot.

The only players who may benefit from imitating Ronaldo would be Rashford and arguably Greenwood because they could be stylistically similar to him. However, guys like Fred and Bruno aren't going to benefit from packing on muscle- they would benefit more from training tactically or outdoors with the ball at their feet.

I 100% agree that all players should be trying to emulate his professionalism but very few players would actually benefit from copying his training directly. I'd imagine the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Modric etc all train/trained hard but probably not by doing 5 hour gym sessions after mandatory training.

I said it would get worse if Ole left, looks like it’s happening quicker than I thought.

Basically anyone who isn’t a good man manager will get crucified, when someone u like gets sacked the next man is on a losing battle.

Whatever is leaked, at the end of the day fans can only judge on what happens on the pitch. All the rest is pure noise
Agreed. People just speculate about rumours and transfers and 90% comes to nothing but we never learn.

The bolded apparently.

Anything to pour scorn on the club for some.
When a club does badly, practically any criticism is valid even if it doesn't make any sense.

You still don't get what I mean mate

So some overpaid primadonnas who whine and cant cope when things get rough want out; well, we Supporters dont have that luxury and personally Ive no time for anybody with this selfish, whinging attitude, player or supporter! Perhaps if these cry babies tried as hard on the pitch as they do on their social media sites, or in checking their inflated pay checks, we wouldnt be in the position we're in and they might actually find they enjoy the honour and priviledge of playing for Manchester United; but if they want to go, OK; Manchester United will continue without them and hopefully the players who replace them will be better equipped and better adjusted to cope with the pressures of playing for one of the biggest and best Clubs on the planet!
