Two different halfs. Win is still win.

We got issues about players mentality but that is old news, still actual.
First half was pretty good after the first 15 minutes, just that we didn’t create anything but we were in control.

United looked good in the second half and scored three beautiful goals but de Gea saved our ass in the first half.

We need better control. For example when we went three up, we should have just killed the game by passing to each other.

Still its much different than ole and mourinho thank god. But we are still a way off being a well oiled machine.

Passing needs to be quicker and better. We gave away so many counters.

Thomas Frank: "They [#mufc] are unbelievably lucky. I know all the crap about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford."

Like many have said, the first half was awful, maybe worst under Rangnick. Lucky it was Brentford, and not a City/Liverpool or even West Ham. We can’t do that at the weekend and get out unscathed.. but the second half was pretty damn good too.

Pleased for all three scorers, hopefully Marcus can use that to fuel some confidence now. Elanga justified his selection the way he took that goal.

McTominay stepped up that second half, as did Bruno and several others, but that doesn’t excuse that first half. Several players like Dalot/Fred just don’t seem to have any perception of risk around our own box. Number of times they are reckless with it just outside our boxes drives me mad.

I don’t want to denigrate/be taken the wrong way, Because if De Gea wasn’t making the saves he has been then who knows where we’d be this year. But, he just isn’t there in any way for set pieces. Teams know how to target him. And also, given how often we rely on going back to the GK for an out ball under Rangnick, his kicking really needs to improve. I love his saves, but sometimes they hide some of the glaring weaknesses in his game.

Rangnick best showing.

left out big name players and was proven right. Subs did well. 5 goals in 2 away games now, with Bruno firing. Hopefully it’s not false dawn number 1765

Anyone care to speculate why Ronaldo saw his arse when taken off? Personally thought it was sensible choice given his recent injury.

Thomas Frank is a bitter knob isn’t he. They played Sam Allardyce football.

We put the ball in the net more times than the other team put the ball in the net!

First half was bloody terrible, second half much better. But we still need to improve. We're best when we're actively trying to run the ball forward, so we need to stop this statue shite we keep pulling where we hope the oppos will fall over and let us get passed them. We're being hit hard on the counter anyway so we might as well take a chance and just try running through them from time to time.

Like McTominay tonight. Bloody brilliant. Never said a bad word about the cnut in my life :nervous:
I thought we controlled the mid part of the first half, but as soon as some sloppy play let them in again, we started to lose confidence a bit. It's definitely that area just in front of the back four where we struggle, call it a DM if you like, but neither Fred or Mctominay seem to have the ability to see things happening, so are unable to snuff out some of the oppositions attacks. We need a midfield player who can see things happening and be in the right place at the right time, and have a very good passing ability, not sure if that could be Garner or Galbraith, but it would give Fred and/or Mctominay the chance to play further forward, where they have performed better.

Very good - McTominay, Dalot, Elanga and De Gea
Good - Fred off the ball, Varane, Rashford getting his goal, Bruno before the chip
Bad - Fred on the ball, Ronaldo being a baby, Maguire
Agree with this.

Was more concerned with dropping points tonight than against Villa.

Happy with the three points and the second half performance. McTominay was a level above the rest.

The shitness of the first half is being a little exaggerated. Brentford away is a tough fixture and they’ve given lots of big sides a hard time. We did give away some soft chances but we actually controlled the game quite well. We had something like 68% possession at half time. Compared to some of the legitimately shit performances in 2022 so far even the first half was an improvement.
Yea i agree. Was saying this at half time when so many posters were saying we need to sack rangnick. We had control for about half of the first half. Granted without creating much.

Much better in the second half obviously but i bet rangnick will say in the post match presser that we still need better control.

Yes! Would’ve been delighted with a clean sheet but we’ll take it. Mctominay was brilliant in the second half. Great chest pass from Ronaldo for the second goal.
I thought apart from a 10 minute spell involving set pieces for them, we controlled the game better on the ball for most of it. Positives, but a very tough game against West Ham ahead now. Would love if we kept this going.

Poor performance overall, Brentford had a couple of really good chances, lucky for us they can`t finish.

Mctominay shines again, if he only he could play like this consistently.
Happy for Rashford, hopefully this starts his season, finally.
Decent performance overall from Elanga, and a good goal, no reason really to take him out of the starting 11 for the next games.

Ronaldo was livid on the bench, I'd be too after being substituted by Maguire. Also happy Bruno kept the armband when that fraud came on. Also no surprise we lose our clean sheet with Maguire out there. Armband or not, useless fecking Maguire has no place at United.

Brentford away isn't an easy place to go. Arsenal lost, Liverpool drew, city and Chelsea won by a goal.

Don't look too much into it. It was a brilliant result.

Really hope McTominay is okay. Man of the match for me.
DDG man of the first half too.
More work needs to be done.

Yeah, you're right and they definitely need someone to support them. Unfortunately Matic is the current option and he's just too slow isn't he?

Is anyone able to upload that McTominay analysis from BT Sport there?

I've a mate who is constantly slagging him and I want to send him that and tell him go feck himself.

I want dvb to play, it's a shame SM got injured, swapping fred for DVB would have been nice.. why HM played is beyond me..

Chest pass from Ronaldo to Bruno was amazing and that steal from Scotty. Elanga's goal..so many positive moments. I have to figure out how to be happy after a game. It's been a while.

I guess Thomas thought they were going to have a bit of a Sheffield United type of fairytale season

I’m definitely not getting overly excited about the result. but it’s great to win and to score some goals. Also I hope we can at least get Donny out on Loan and if Ten Haag comes in he might be able to restart his career here. I feel sorry for him it’s heartbreaking

A bit within ourselves in the first, whatever he said at halftime worked. We looked decent. I like the formation, Fred finding himself on the right and Bruno on the left often should open up passing lanes. Ronnie's #9 work with his chest was excellent as well!

Thought elanga poor apart from first goal, gave ball away to often and wasn't strong enough, great goal and ball of the season from Fred, his 2nd half was okish, goal was great and brave,
