Why would we loan him to a team that in a few years time will be a direct rival to us. The richest club on the planet.

I want them to go down as it will delay that whole process. Loaning him to them would he madness, for him to then sign with them in the summer scott free for massive wages and fees..

if they let this happen they are really stupid.

We can only worry about ourselves. Getting Lingard out in the summer for a fee was a chance missed. If Newcastle are offering a 10m fee we should let him go and put that money the pot for rice. Rice pot

Do we gain 10m now or lose 30-40m by missing out on a CL spot in a few years. Might even take them 2 years to get back up so 60-70m lost.

This is problem though, 3 fecking oil lottery clubs now.

He made his mind already, we need those 10M for a Midfielder, which is a no-brainer. Thanks for the bangers Jesse, you are not the first that leaves like this and won't be the last.

Desperate to get rid of him, but I'm not sure if helping Newcastle avoid relegation is a particularly good idea. I'd rather just keep him here for the time being. Unless they are willing to buy for a fair amount.

I’m surprised he isn’t pushing for a permanent move to Newcastle. He could secure himself a really good contract with them now due to them being desperate. The flip side is having to stick around if they get relegated.

That's exactly why he's said no

I'd imagine in the summer on a free he'll have his pick of clubs including some in Europe

Never thought he was Utd quality but really hate to see careers go the way his has...had a lot of potential to be a solid fixture at a decent PL club. Thought West Ham and their counter attacking system suited him down to the ground. Not sure he gets in that team now.

I don't get this apprehension with selling him to Newcastle because it delays them supposedly taking our CL spot in the future.

I know we've dropped considerably in the last 8 years or so but its still very small time from us. We're not Spurs ffs, we should be doing what's best for the club and building a team to challenge for the title. Jesse isn't a part of that, so I don't care who we sell him to.

There is no apprehension about selling him to Newcastle. The player doesn't want a permanent move to them

I meant from some posters here who think that selling Jesse feckin Lingard to Newcastle is what accelerates the process of Newcastle supposedly usurping us in the English football hierarchy.

He feels disrespected? Couldn't make it up... he really does regard himself as a senior player with alot of standing at the club

10 million sounds way too good to be true, got to be fake surely. Nobody in their right mind would pay that to loan a 29 year old average footballer for 5 months whose contract expires at the same time. We would be lucky to get a couple million for him.
Apparently the 10M is nonsense according to todays round of rumors. It always seemed odd when a couple of days earlier we supposedly knocked back a 2M offer and requested 3.5M instead. I understand they have pots of money but would be strange negotiating for us to say we want 3.5M and for them to say 10M and not a penny less.

Reminds me of shopping for different shades of white with the Mrs. Okay, maybe the 'Bone' IS a little nicer than the 'Snow Drift', but is life not too short for this?
Oh come on, there might be no role for him anymore but let’s be real, he’s much better than cleverly and has had his shining moments at United. There’s no need to be silly

It's getting really boring reading stories of our players or their agents crying to the media every 2 minutes

United just fecking let him go, why are we being such cnuts and hoarding all these players with no intention to use them? We never use him even as a sub, same with Martial, same with Henderson, same with Van de Beek. Yet refuse to sell them at reasonable prices, refuse to let them go out on loan. We just come out looking like dickheads.

Fair enough if that's your opinion, but no I dont think he's all that much better at all really. Certainly had his moments, and if I had to pick between them I'd pick Jesse, but same bracket of bang-average for me. I don't think there's anything silly about that.

Agree to disagree.

Edit: of course you understand the Teflon Cleverley thing was just a joke right? I didn't anticipate cross-analysis.

I'm desperate to see his tie with United finally cut once and for all.

Despite all these stories about him leaving, I can still see him with us next season with a new contract.

Please, let him go!

I don't particularly dislike lingard, but he's never going to be a regular for us it's in everyones interests for him to move on.

By all accounts Ole lied to him about more football thus scuppering our only realistic chance of getting a decent fee for him when his stock was high last summer.

If Newcastle are prepared to cover his wages with a loan fee then just let him go as we aren't getting anything in the summer for him anyway.

Be interesting to see if the leaks die down if he does go.
