You often have that with those kind of 10s who's main quality is making runs in the box at the right moments... Klaassen (especially in his first Ajax term) and Siem de Jong were exactly the same for us...

Yeah, a type of player that only works in the Eredivisie it seems. Though Klaassen wasn't bad in the BuLi I think?

Apart from good riddance that Ajax ended its ways with Overmars after his alleged behavior, from a football point of view its a massive massive massive setback for Ajax Overmars is gone. His influence in the uprise of Ajax the last couple of years can not be overestimated..

I'm reading in De Volkskrant that media were already looking into the social culture and that Ajax, and that the NRC may have more news later today. The journalist says that this might explain why Ajax announced Overmars's news yesterday evening (which is an uncommon moment), to get ahead of the news. In any case, so there may be more to come...

Yes, I doubt they quickly announced this from the goodness of their heart. Smart decision to tell the world now PR wise.

Ajax in this form won't be easy for anyone to beat in the CL. Especially at home they will dominante virtually everyone I'd say.

Still, Benfica, even if they're a bit cack are still Portugese.

Pasveer's save percentage is insanely good, because teams are so fecking desperate they shoot from ridiculous angles whenever they do get the ball for more than 2 seconds.

I love it when my Ajax mates suggest he's the best GK in Europe. 39y old gem from Vitesse.

Don't really understand the clean sheets stat to value a keepers ability. When the chance is clear enough the goalkeeper is at such a disadvantage that not even 2 Smeichels can stop it. It's the team that gets the clean sheet. (I know you're kidding mind you)

Keepers are an overrated position anyway. Least important part of the team. Just ask Johan Cruijff.

Perez opening the discussion about Jurrien Timber and whether he should start ahead of De Vrij and De Ligt as started for the National Team..

Regardless of who will play.. Its insane how much choice we have in central defense: Van Dijk, De Ligt, De Vrij, Timber, Blind, Botman coming up, Ake regularly starting there for City.. This coming from a country who reached the World Cup final in 2010 with Mathijssen / Heitinga as starting partnership with André Ooijer as first backup..

But you used to have Van Persie, Robben, Van der Vaart, Sneijder in attack, whereas that's now down to the likes of Bergwijn, Depay, Klaassen, Weghorst, Malen, Lang, ... All above average players but a far cry from the world class players you had a decade ago.

Real shame because this defense is indeed crazily talented compared to the ones you mentioned for the 2010 World Cup.

Very true.. It the opposite of what he had a decade ago indeed.. There is some talent upfront with Gakpo/Malen/Lang, but they all still have everything to show and yet to prove themselves at the highest level.. Nowhere near the names you mention... You have to give credits to Memphis in our National Team though.. Statwise he is massively outperforming all his predecessors..

Such a shame Ziyech chose to play for Marocco, only to have a very turbulent unfulfilling time at the national team there in the end.. Same for Mazraoui.. Those two would add extreme value to NL.

No way in hell Clasie will make the final cut. I think it's a message from Van Gaal that he should do better and not think he's ready for a move abroad honestly.

Clasie though

It's mental really. Veerman wouldve been a better option, especially since he's young.

Karsdorp never getting a shout is also a bit strange. Even if he is one of my least favourite Feyenoord players of all time, a Roma starter deserves a look in. Especially if you give dudes like Rensch a call up at an earlier stage.

Karsdorp' s a dim cnut though, so it might be that.

I don't want to jinx this, so I'm not posting anything. Not a thing. Nope.
