Same thing here in Norway. Far right weirdos are up Putin’s ass.
As are hard left tankies.

It seems opposing Putin remains the preserve of sensible politicians, who realise that NATO is not responsible for the fact Russia's leader is an autocratic madman who has, over time become more and more extreme with his foreign policy aspirations.

He’s nearly 80, doubt he cares that much to be honest. They’re going for the sanction tranches as well - guess ball is in Putin’s court.
This is true, and he doesn’t come across like he is power hungry, but contending with the idea of failing to get a second term… that’ll weigh heavy on anyone.

By the way, wouldn't we see much more and bigger cyber attacks if a further invasion was imminent?

Everybody's sanctioned hundreds of Russian individuals, we've sanctioned 3:lol:
EU sanctions were far tougher than the UKs.
Britain named 3 specific Oligarchs as well as 5 Russian financial instutions - in addition to the same 351 Russian lawmakers sanctioned by the EU who voted to recognise Donbas and Luhansk as independent. They simply weren't namechecked individually in the gov statement.

That has to be satire surely
It is not, but it has cut some things he said.

For the context, he also says that it would have never happened under him, and that it is very sad that there was no response from Biden. Essentially, he is calling genius the way how Putin did it, while implicating that it would have never happened if the US was stronger. A bit like respecting rather than admiring your adversary.

He was being sarcastic. If you click the link, you can see that Trump is disappointed that Biden did not make a tougher response.
Yeah those quotes have been taken out of context. It’s basically just an attack on Biden saying that Putin has outplayed him wher Trump would have dealt with it. Just the usual delusional narcissism rather than anything more sinister. People love that narrative though.

The cameras will show us what Putin wants us to see. It's difficult to conduct balanced journalism in Moscow - the BBC, for all their faults, get followed around by plain clothes 'minders' everywhere they go in major Russian cities.

...and yesterday, RT was quick to proudly show us the fireworks displays in the Donbas and Luhansk at the news of Putin's announcements and interventions. Followed by interviews of people on the streets of Moscow who were all in favour of military intervention.

That said, there are of course many (a majority of?) Russians who genuinely do support Putin, his popularity mustn't be downplayed. We just hardly hear from anybody with a dissenting opinion, except occasionally from the likes of Garry Kasparov, Alex Navalny, and @harms

Actually @harms - genuine question, and sorry if you've been asked this before. Do people you know and speak to resent NATO/westerners in the way that the RT comments section would have us believe?

The UK look very very weak on the international stage it has too be said!

It’s quite outstanding how weak we e become to be fair

quite literally the tiny voice in the back of the room
Simply not the case. The UK is at the heart of the information exchange between America and Europe. Let's be honest, these sanctions as a whole will not deter putin one bit. He won't go hungry or without.

Russia has been sanctioned for decades in one way for another and putin has never been deterred.

This situation has been brewing since Georgia and the crimea when the world stood by and didn't act.
It's a failure of the whole of nato to act and of the Russians failure to challenge putin that led to this.

I wouldn't say that's true, Britain were among the first to act with sanctions on assets and Russian banks and in fairness the EU's response has been thus far, tame and rather quiet.
Haven't you seen the news today? EU's sanctions are more far reaching and cover a lot more actors inside Russia, including lots of members of the DUMA. Of course the EU is always going to be a bit slower to act, they need 27 countries to agree

Here's the longer quote:
"I said, 'How smart is that?'" the former U.S. president continued. "And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy."

Trump added: "But here’s a guy that says, you know, 'I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,' he used the word 'independent' and 'we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.' You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad."
The Western media has to be careful with this increasing behaviour of selective quoting. It actually made me wary of believing the initial US reports about Russia wanting to start a war. It's not until Putin started his Mad King speech on TV that confirmed the truth to my eyes.

Trump wasn’t being sarcastic. He doesn’t know how to be such. In no way does the entire quote suggest sarcasm in any manner. He was praising Putin, plain & simple, & looking for a way to put Biden down.

Think someone has just said above. The UK has sanctioned all the people the EU has, plus the extra ones Boris listed.

Think its also important to remember that lots of the Intel gathering comes via our partnership with America.

The nord stream sanction. Is a big one though, but the UK couldn't have had input into that as it was not a UK thing.

One thing is for sure though, if the gas supply is switched off, Germany will really feel the pinch quickly. I think 60 percent of its gas is Russian, as opposed to around 5 percent of UK supply.

Yes, he admired the tactic used by Putin. It was savvy. But he was disappointed that Biden wasn't as savvy in his reaction. It's more hot air from Trump, but it wasn't meant to be supporting Putin.

@Droid_Repairs I know your question wasn't directed at me, but all russian people I know are against Putin's actions and understand the propaganda that comes from their state media.
