What percentage of all matches has he been available for since we signed him?

I love the man, but it's getting ridiculous. It's not his fault, but still.

I will throw in a typical "Not his biggest fan. Wish him a speedy recovery."

We really need rotational option badly now, or we risk to run our other attackers into ground.

Looking at Transfermarkt,

CL - 7/13, EL - 5/9, PL - 37/60 with one game not included as he was left out but probably available for, FA - 4/6, EFL - 1/3

Overall either 54/91, or with the Wolves game at the end of last season 55/92

So as a percentage, about 59%

Thanks. It’s a bit higher than expected, I’d have thought around 40-50% but probably more annoying is that non of the injuries seem to be serious injuries. He just plays a handful of games and then in off for a few months.

According to whoscored.com

Edinson Cavani has failed to make the matchday squad 39 times of a possible 93 games since joining United.

Needs to stop be lauded by our fans. 2 goals this season, seemingly asked to leave and barely ever available.

He's been yet another poor signing to add to our almost endless list of South American flops.

Hardly his fault he's injured.

The club brought him in, despite knowing he's made of glass.

What actually is his injury? We could really do with some options up front right about now..

When we need to convince and or beg someone to stay it never works out.

It's not just that though, is it?

When he's been injury free, he's repeatedly asked the club for additional time off. He was given permission to come back and join the other players for pre-season late.

He was given additional time off after coming back from representing Uruguay, and he's not been seen since. Funnily enough, Fred who came back the same time was straight into the thick of things.

It's very convenient he's always available when his country comes calling though.

Fred had not played for Brazil. Both Cavani and Telles did and wouldn't be used against Boro.

Uruguay has played 16 WC Qualifying games, Cavani started in 4, came on as sub in 3. That looks as available as for his club methinks.

I'm lost as to why any club would now give Cavani a substantial wage. Or any kind of wage in fact. Time is up. Surely nobody in La Liga would be that crazy.

Out of interest, how many Uruguay matches has he missed while he's been here?

Maybe if anyone can be bothered to turn matches missed for us and matches missed for Uruguay into percentages.

I’ve said it plenty of times. This guy is a joke. He’s lauded and has taken the piss. He doesn’t even want to be here and hasn’t really for longer than 3 months. We are suffering badly as a result of his lack of commitment to the club paying him £1mill a month. Absolute mercenary.

He was pretty good last season tbf. Wasn't injured often and he got 17 goals.

This season has been disastrous. The warning signs were there when we signed him though.

He missed 13 games last season and scored 10 of his 17 goals in April and May. From September to April he scored 7 goals. A goal a month. That’s pretty terrible to be honest.

Take April and May last season out of the equation and what has he done to earn £1million a month for the other 21 months ?

One of the most telling things is RR doesn't have a time frame for his return. Groin strains like all injuries have a recovery estimate depending on the severity. From the outside it just looks like the recovery estimate is whatever Cavani says it is. Is he going for the World Cup? Maybe preserving his body for that might be his priority atm.

Tbf to him he did say he wanted to leave but Rangnick said he wouldn't let him so he pretty much shot himself in the foot making him some key figure in his plans. A loan striker would have made his job easier. This is the only aspect of his tenure I thought could have been handled differently.

Just my opinion but I don't think he was happy about Ronaldo taking his spot and his shirt number. Not that he was always readily available anyway before Ronaldo signed. Time to go, he's been on vacation here

TBF, it was Greenwood stuff that causes all the issue now in hindsight. Greenwood stuff happened close to the end of the window. There is no time to get a loan forward in.

If Greenwood is available, Cavani wouldn't be needed as much. Just have him around for an odd games, odd moment in that scenario is fine. Cavani showed that last season, he can kinda play his part. Loaning a random forward like Ighalo may not help the situation. It's difficult to expect loan mid season to hit the ground running, when the options are not exactly great.

So still no update on Cavani return?

He was great in the second half of last season, our best player by far.
Ole is to blame for this. Cavani wanted to leave in the summer yet Ole begged him to stay. Cavani reluctantly agreed to 1 more season only for Ole to then go sign Ronaldo a couple of days later.
After that betrayal, Cavani couldn't give 2 fecks about this club so stays away most of the time and even when he does play, his famous work rate is non existent.

Didn't know this. If true another squad management masterclass from the master.

@MUFCScoop: Rangnick: “Edi [Cavani] trained well in the last three days but in the end he didn’t feel quite well enough to play.” #MUFC

This guy!

Trained well, didn't feel like playing though.

I get that he knows his body but you also get the feeling he’s being a bit precious. Might as well not have him at the club.
