Congratulations legend. Someone whose commitment on the pitch can never be questioned.

Well deserved. Young Rooney was a force of nature on the pitch.

I'll always be honoured to have lived through the age of Rooney

The fire crackles as the children gasp in awe. Snow begins to fall outside the window the your tale comes to an end, but the youngsters are still thirsty for more. 'Tell us about the two he scored against Andorra again Grandpapa' one child begs. 'No, no! The legendary brace vs Kazakhstan!' implores another. The oldest boy pipes up. 'Be quiet you two, Grandad tells those ones all the time. Go on, tell us the one you promised us last time - the penalty vs Slovenia...Grandad..G-Grandad?'

The rocking chair creaks to a halt. A serene expression is on your face and all of Rooney's goals flash before your eyes in your final moments as the children embrace you. His one World Cup goal, The legendary double in Minsk. That tap in against Liechenstien. they know whats happening and are scared, but calm.

The last thing you hear as you slide into the black warmth of death is the youngest boy - old beyond his years, a football fanatic who spends every free moment outside kicking his battered leather ball against the wall 'Dont be sad, he lived a hell of a life...in the age of Rooney.'

Incredible player. What a combination of skill and work rate/desire.

Find another like him? Nothing compares to him. Wouldn't it be nice to find another one.

I loved watching the young, explosive forward version of Rooney, who ran at defenders and smashed the ball straight into the top corner and who loved going for chipping the keeper.

The all-rounded version that Sir Alex moulded him into was just as good but not as fun to watch. I miss the days when he smashed full volleys in against Boro and particularly Newcastle.

Deserved but when was there a PL Hall of Fame? This is the first hall of fame for football I have heard of.

Thoroughly deserved. He was a great player.

Special mention for the chip on David James, it even brought a wry smile from him as it sailed over his head.

Gets underrated due to being compared with Ronaldo and being better as a teenager. Yes I feel he could of gone even higher but the man was world class in all aspects one of my favourite players of all time

Was formed last year. First two inductees were Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry with Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard closing 2021's lot.

Six of the players in the tweet below will be in this year's:

Aguero and Terry are nailed on but the other four places could go to any of them.

A very well deserved induction for my favorite player. A true United player that had incredible talent and the drive to match.

I was wondering where Lampard was forgot he is in already. Crazy he scored 20+ a season 5 seasons in a row.
I agree Aguero and Terry are bankers

Massive player and even a more massive twat. As a player he should be there as an icon or idol he shouldnt
I don't really care about him fecking his brothers wife, some of the stories around infidelity I have heard from the group I was at Uni with makes that look tame. His current trial though, different issue.

Purely as a footballer he would have been one of the first entries, though who really cares, gimmicky nonsense.

The amount of stick Rooney got in his latter years with us, suprised everything is so positive in here. But i absolutely loved him, one of the most unselfish players to wear the shirt. The level of sacrifice he gave us, playing in every position rather than being an out and out striker, he was so damn good we needed him everywhere.
