Was he this shit last year? Everyone was attributing Shaw’s incredible form to having genuine competition.

A likeable guy but a nothing player in his role. Even as a backup we can do better. Maybe Hag will get some good use out of him playing further up the pitch. He might attempt to give him the responsibility he entrust Blind with at Ajax and that's a huge role as Hag likes to overload the left side against low blocks. Two things Telles is decent at is passing the ball forward and crossing

Blind is a very good defender Telles isn't anywhere near his level.

I didn't directly compare them. I rated Blind during his time at united. I'm merely saying Hag may attempt to deploy Telles in a similar role down the left as he's doing with Blind at Ajax..

He's not going to replace every player in every position in his first window and many of the current squad may remain for the foreseeable future

Painfully average player. Doesn't defend or attack well. His only redeeming quality is his delivery from corners.

Not sure the 2nd goal was on him as Lindelof passed Pukki on when Telles was still a few yards away so not much chance of getting back in. 1st he was poor for though.

100% on Telles. Lindelof did the right thing, Telles just randomly drifted in field and stood there. Hopeless defender. Honestly really basic stuff.

Sorry I don't see how that might work, Blind is very clever defender and has some of the best deliveries in the game. Telles isn't a good defender and his passing is nothing more than ok. But who knows apparently Telles was great for Porto, ETH might get him firing on all cylinders.

Average player. Signed as a backup. Should be a backup next year and hopefully we move on.

Hag's options down that left are Telles and Shaw. Shaw gets a lot of stick but I think he's a better all round player than Telles and fitness allowing will probably get the first chance to impress Hag in that role. If you look at Ajax games that left side is instrumental in their setup, a lot comes down that side. He may take a different approach at united.

Honestly just a bang average player at best and another one added to the list of mediocrity. Bad positioning, very little attacking threat, average at defending.

Would rather see Alvaro Fernandez be given a good run atm.
Alvaro isn’t the quickest, but looking at Telles today in his cement boots you’d have to say he’d struggle to be slower. Wish Ralf would give a few more young uns a go.
Mainoo, Hannibal & Garnacho should all have gotten minutes this season. Mata was very good when he came on but him & Jesse aren’t the future of the club.

I don't rate Telles at all but it's pretty risible that people are apportioning blame to him for the first goal.

I've watched it back and Telles is in an impossible position; if he leaves his man and marks Dowell there is a player completely free pretty much dead centre in the penalty box.

Shaw should be back up. Go and get a starting lb and sell this waste of space

Shaw is on 250 k p/w. He is either first choice or you sell him. Neither are good enough and we should be both replaced, but if we do sign a new lb, I would look to offload Shaw first.

No you should offload the worst player first. Which is Telles. Im all for selling Shaw, as bad as he is hes still 3 times the player Telles is

In general I would agree, but factoring that Shaw has been "accused" of leaks and sulking etc and given his lack of professionalism regarding fitness, I would still prefer we sell Shaw first. We should try to remove bad influences first and foremost.

Sell them both then. Why keep a player who isn’t good enough to even be a backup (Telles)

That's why I put in earmarks. However, his lack of professionalism regarding fitness is factual.
Thats complete bollox. Hes fit enough to play for us and be much better than Telles except when hes injured

Fit enough is not enough for one of your highest earners. It's about setting standards. Barca sold Ronaldinho, Saf sold Whiteside etc not because they were not talented.

I like him for some reason. But I expected so much more. Is he better or worse than Buttner?

I don't know about professionalism, but he's like so many other players in the squad lack intensity in games for some reason.

The question is whether Shaw deserves another chance or not. I think he's one of our most technical players and should be suited for the style of the new manager if he's willing to put on the effort.
