Just saw this...

I think we can all agree with Ralf on this, although i think he plans to do it over 2-3 windows, as he was quoted in another interview.

It’s been argued that we need to improve the goalkeeping as well. De Gea has returned to his shot-stopping best but fallen behind the world’s best goal keepers in other areas.

Yeah, hes probably thinking that DDG is something to fix later down the line and perhaps with work he can improve the weaker areas of his game. Fundamentally he is easily one of the top shot stoppers in the world. Its just a shame that for all the best teams at the moment the shot stopping ability is probably the 2nd or 3rd most important quality they want in a keeper.

Quite optimistic that if we spend £150m+ this summer, get ETH in and have a full pre-season we will be OK next year. I might even enjoy watching us and make the effort to do so every week!

Well thank feck he's not in charge going forward then if he thinks we're alright with the goalkeeper.

You watch Ederson and Allison and they take some horrendous risks with the ball at their feet. They escape conceding at times due to having top class defenders around them who will clear up the mess. DDG might be replaced, but we need that much he is seen as the least of our problems.

He's gone all in- two footed- to the board

He's not wrong about any of it, except maybe that the GK does need upgrading but it's a lower priority.

Some are going to have a shock when De Gea eventually leaves and we struggle for years to get a competent replacement. They'll be wishing we had someone as 'bad' as De Gea

I guess we actually have two GKs who are PL level in the squad, who both offer a different tactical skillset. I personally don’t think DDG would get into another top PL team because football has moved on and he can’t play in a modern manner but he’s not a ‘bad’ keeper and we also aren’t going to be able to shift him anyway.

We more than alright with the keeper at the moment. Pretty much the least of our worries with the team and squad at the moment.

We're really not, he's a massive issue unless the intention is to return to playing deep defensive football with a big feck off target man. It's been done to death and not worth getting into again but Ralph's other quotes make it clear that in his view DDG has been fine but a different manager may well look at it differently, which I'm fine with.

Rangnick's view of football is extremely functional, so he doesn't care how good a goalkeeper is in terms of auxiliary attributes as long as he is elite at keeping the ball out of the net. He doesn't care much if his side has to pump the ball up the field as long as it achieves their means of getting them in the attacking areas even if it means not doing a patient build up with the back 4. I can see why he could be completely happy with De Gea. It remains to be seen if Ten Hag sees it the same way.

I agree with him on the other aspects though. Why waste time, energy and resources trying to coach out the apathy and lack of physicality and will from a group of primadonnas, when you can start from scratch and give a new manager a blank slate to build?

I think the most important appointment we'll make this summer is giving Ralf a significant role upstairs. He should be our DoF.

I really, really like Ralf. Extremely likable man who says it like it is, a breath of fresh air.

I think he'll do well in the backroom role, it's a shame he's not a very good manager.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Wait…you mean before you identify targets and decide who to buy you should think about the profile you need in that position for how you want to play? Who knew? Everything Ralf says is bang on as always and like he’s explained it isn’t rocket science. We’ve just made running a club with our resources and pull look hugely difficult - it really shouldn’t be.

And they really need to listen. He is spot on.

Please united board, for once, let the egos go and do what’s best for the football team.

I bloody love Ralf.

How long have we waited for a manager to come in and give the club a dressing down in a proper manner? He's absolutely spot on and if the board have any sense they'll take this as valuable feedback.

As I say he the least of our worries, so many areas of the pitch need fixing first. Pretty much every area, especially at the back.

I mean, there are lot more pressing issues. With a decent back four and midfield, whatever perceived deficiencies in DDG’s game will be even less noticeable

It's nice to see he's taking his role seriously and seems like he genuinely wants to get the club back on our perch.

Wonder if it's wise to do this before the pool game mind...

Forget the results on the pitch, I love this man. He is telling people what they need to hear.

We've been saying "with a decent back 4 in front of him" for 10 years now, it isn't happening, this guy would create panic with Rio & Vidic in front of him

This is so true and it’s genuine unbelievable he needs to point this out. Absolute morons running the club.
 It's nuts how bad we've been run, it really is. Ralf just coming out with what should be basic common sense, and it genuinely comes across as revolutionary to me.

Finally someone saying it like it is. Him and ETH in combination might turn out to be really good hopefully.

Its all true. None of it is rocket science, really. Sign a player with a system in mind, knowing their strengths suit that system. Hardly splitting the atom. However, the people at Man Utd have gone 10 years without doing this. The problems could be fixed pretty fast by simply buying players with a plan in mind. Rather than just picking the biggest name we can get and asking the coach to figure out how to fit them in.

He's good at stating the obvious (although I don't agree with him on the goal keeping situation).

It's one thing him saying it, another us actually doing anything about it. There's no way we'll be buying 7 first team players this summer.

Worryingly it sounds like he thinks our recruitment and scouting departments are still a shambles so I don't see how we're going to improve that in time for a crucial summer.

Wreck it Ralf! Love it. But also the GK needs replacing but makes sense to kick that can down the road for the time being.

The problem is whether he’s saying this in the media because it isn’t getting through to the board or whoever it is deciding things at OT.
