Im valuing rashford at 50m and kane at 100m.

Levy will potentially be signing a future pm for all we know, levy being a businessman will see sense in paying premium for such a future asset not to mention the positive pr he'll get.
We would have very little interest in Rashford and even if we did we wouldn't value him anywhere near 50m as he would be basically a back-up player for Son - no way does he get into our first team right now. Kane is very unlikely to move this summer as it looks increasingly likely Conte is staying put - I'd say Kane is more likely to sign a new contract than leave at this moment.

What if madrid, barca, bayern, psg come calling for son ? Son would flip in no time and then you'll end up paying more for the likes of rashford.

Son has only recently signed a new contract with us - he is going nowhere

Im sure his contract has a release clause unless he's a fool like kane.
I've no idea if it does but very few (if any?) contracts in the Premiership contain a release clause so I would be surprised if it did and it would likely have been leaked. Going a bit off topic though arent we.

Rashford is just having a bad season, it’s like us not taking Son because of Spurs shit form.

He is having a terrible, terrible season that is having many people question whether he will ever return to decent form again - right now he is worth much less than he might have been 2 years ago - he is basically your Dele at the moment and to get rid you will have to ship him out at a major discount. We are getting way off topic here though since we are meant to be talking about Kane rather than Son or Rashford.

Exactly the type of player we should NOT sign going forward. We'd be getting the back end of his career for the highest wages and transfer fee around. The only way is down and for the astronomic price he'd go for with so many gaps in our squad to fill, it's not worth it. I wouldn't hate it as he is a great player but I don't think this is the right direction.
Why do people keep spouting stuff like this. There is nothing wrong with signing 28 year olds if they are the right player who fit the club/managers system.

Thiago is currently pulling up trees for Liverpool and they signed him at 30. van persie, berbatov, Yorke and many more have been signed for us at similar ages and had success for us.

we have been burnt by players in recent years not because of their age but their attitudes. Signing ageing players who don’t care anymore.

If Kane was hungry to come here and his transfer wouldn’t effect any of our other business in the market you’d have to be crazy to turn that up.

50m + rashford ?
The issue here is Spurs won't sell Kane for 100m, and Rashford doesn't worth 50m due to his form for the past 2 years and his salary. With no disrespect to Spurs they can't afford Rashford's salary, and it is the same for arsenal as well.

I tend to agree that there is nothing in it for him to join Man Utd at this stage of his career other than money. He either joins a club he can challenge for trophy right away (Man City), or stay with Spurs with Conte in charge.
A world class striker ought to believe he could turn than Man Utd squad into title challengers
If he doesn't believe he's capable of doing so then he has a small mentality.

Football is a team sport and nowadays the upper management structure is as important. If CR7 can't turn it around for Man Utd, i highly doubt Kane can do that either.

Rashford scored 21 goals last season.
There’s a real problem of evaluating United players after this season by all sides. They’ve been coached by Ole and a director of football. I honestly don’t believe they’re as bad as what we’re seeing on the pitch simply because of how poor how coaching structure has been. I mean the same logic applies to Sancho and he’s was heralded as one of the games next big stars only 12 months ago.
I got to give Ralph this, hiring a PR agent a few months ago has worked wonders for him. All these leaks about what he secretly thinks and times outbursts, the man played Phil Jones at Anfield and had Norwich overpower or midfield because he decided to play Pogba as a CDM all on his own.
I don’t think we wil see this squad turn elite under Ten Hag but these players aren’t as bad as what we’re seeing.
Ralph is a terrible offensive coach, I think it’s as plain as day to see.

You may be right, however a player is valued based on his current form, and Rashford's salary only City and United can afford him. (Not chelsea given their situation now)

Mane has a terrible season last season and came back, Aubamyang got away from Arteta and became a massive threat again. Kane has been abysmal for 3/4 of this season and that’s not being generous.
Im a Rashford critic on here, I hate the way he just knocks the ball between two defenders when double marked and hopes it comes out the other side, it’s a player who can’t be bothered to take responsibility and takes an easy out.
I just think everybody is being incredibly harsh.

Cristiano is 37 and definitely not as good as he used to be.
Kane will be 29 this summer and is currently still in his prime
Better squad than Tottenham+new manager who's expected to massively improve the club.

Saying he has no reason to move from Tottenham to UTD is foolish, this isn't a sideway move, this is a clear upgrade.

I tend to agree with this but also that it makes zero sense for any team to acquire him unless they're going to play him at LW, which has been a big part of the problem for him this season at United. All of which makes him a poor fit for Spurs because if they lose Kane their best player will be their LW.

I think there's an argument that Rashford could be tried at CF again if backed with an extended run of games. But if United isn't willing to do that (and I don't really see any indication they are), then why should some other club?

Even speaking as a United fan, I have to disagree with the bolded right now. Spurs have a proven world class manager- it isn't overly unlikely that he could mount a title challenge with a bit of investment. We are hiring an exciting coach who is full of potential. He could be the new Cruyff who will create a dynasty here but he could equally prove not very good at all (see another former Ajax boss' disastrous and brief stint in the PL for reference). I can't say with confidence that we will win a major trophy before Spurs for as long as Conte is at Spurs and being even somewhat backed with transfer funds.

I think Martial for 35-40m might be a better offer. Spurs wanted him a few years ago and you could still see glimpses of that top player in him.

I’m a big fan of his but I cannot fathom a single reason for signing a player who is beginning to decline. We need to spend big on younger, hungry players and supplement them with experience here and there. To invest the required amount to sign Kane would be a completely antithesis to how ten Hag would be successful here.

didn't he struggle big time in Sevilla as well? He is on even higher wages than Rashford. For 40m may as well go for Jonathan David for younger and hungrier player.

Nobody is going to pay that for Martial given his wages, temperamental attitude, and recent playing history.

Rashford retains some unique appeal due to him being English and also him stringing together a longer period of very productive play at a younger age than Martial ever did. But Martial really doesn't stand out as a player from a ton of other forwards (at least in a good way) yet you'd have to pay him 250k per week and a transfer fee to acquire him. It doesn't make any sense when you could pay 30m for a younger forward with more potential, fewer known attitude problems, and give them 80k per week instead.

I think Martial is in the same category as players like Pepe, N'Dombele, and Kepa who went for big fees pre-Covid and turned into busts. The only way they will move on a permanent is if their clubs accept a fee that is a tiny fraction of what was originally paid for them.

Rashford really can't play Ten Hags style of football. Signing him is really the end for players like Rashford.

Also he would be too expensive, and we need many new players. I highly doubt we are interested in him.

I agree, he is a terrible fit for Ten Hag.

That doesn't mean other clubs should be lining up to pay 50m to play him at CF though.

Will be interesting to see because Ten Hag is good at developing players and I think hes exactly the manager Rashford needs. Clear direction and development instructions.

Seriously we may be better off loaning Rashford to get his price tag up.

Of course that’s only if he isn’t in our plans at all. If our squad is going to be ultra thin then we have no choice but to keep him as a squad player.

Well done in missing the point. The age in isolation is not the issue. Everyone in their right mind would obviously take him on a free or at low cost (if say he was in the last year of his contract). There is absolutely nothing wrong with signing a top 29 year old or even a 33 year old. But I am not on board with one that would cost 100m+ given the number of other gaps we have our squad. All those players you named cost how much. And as for the last sentence, our budget is not unlimited so it's only logical that kind of outlay would impact the other moves we can make on the market.

Pep obviously missed your point last summer, and i don't believe a great coach need a completely new team to play his football in one season. Turn over a team takes time and can't be done in one window.

No he didn't miss the point. It's 3 things to consider. Age + price + squad gaps. He has the squad part down so he can afford to blow 100m on his missing piece even if there is no resale value. We don't have that luxury. And I certainly don't expect to change the whole squad in one window, just want us to make efficient moves going forward, not the most expensive ones.

100%. We’ve proved this season that we cant create chances for a striker in the box. So why would we blow the whole transfer budget to sign a player who thrives on chances in and around the box? And leave the rest of the team just as shit as it is. Absolutley no chance we are signing Kane

And from Kane's perspective why would he join united

If he leaves spurs its going to be because he's almost 30 and wants to go somewhere he can compete for league and cl titles immediately

Basically not united

Kane wouldn't be worth the crazy money as he wouldn't add a great deal over ronaldo, kane will always want to come deep which is fine if you have either another striker alongside him or great inside forwards that want to get behind the defence like he does at spurs with son, we don't have that as rashford looks spent and is not reliable in front of goal and sancho and elanga are more like natural wingers that look to supply others.

Hes a far better play maker than Ronaldo for 1
