He looked lost today. Very poor defending. We were always at risk when the ball was on his side of the pitch. Very poor awareness of what is happening around him especially when defending counter attacks

I don't know about professionalism, but he's like so many other players in the squad lack intensity in games for some reason.

The question is whether Shaw deserves another chance or not. I think he's one of our most technical players and should be suited for the style of the new manager if he's willing to put on the effort.
Like so many others…. Maybe just maybe the club and coaching has something to do with it…

Fit enough is not enough for one of your highest earners. It's about setting standards. Barca sold Ronaldinho, Saf sold Whiteside etc not because they were not talented.
I already said I’d be happy to sell. Point is he is not lacking fitness more than anyone else in the squad.

I thought he was solid when he first joined, but as has been the theme with many of our players in the last few years his form has fallen off a cliff and he suddenly can't do anything right. Nice corner for Ronnie's second goal though.

I don't rate Telles at all but it's pretty risible that people are apportioning blame to him for the first goal.

I've watched it back and Telles is in an impossible position; if he leaves his man and marks Dowell there is a player completely free pretty much dead centre in the penalty box.
I agree. Pukki looked up before crossing the ball to the free player at the far post. Fair to assume if Telles had marked Dowell then Pukki would have noticed the central player was free in front of our goal. The first goal is down to Elanga not following Pukki and Pogba for not tracking Pukki once it is clear Elanga hasn't noticed what happened.

Even the 2nd goal looked to me to be more Lindelof than Telles.

Having said all that, it is clear now that Telles is not a good defender. His value is in terms of assists and dangerous crosses. From a distance it seems like our scouts got carried away by Bruno Fernandes' success here and thought anyone who looked good in Portugal would be worth the risk.

We should sell him this summer. Would raise a reasonable fee from the continent. Same for dalot. We should be selling saleable assets who arent good enough

This. Looked like a bargain at the start.

One theory is that he has played badly ever since he got rid of the ponytail. It keeps his brain in shape. Maybe he needs to grow it back.

Don't give Shaw a new contract and get Cucurella instead, he's good.

Telles is just terrible. Never mind defensively, even on possession, he's also not that good.

in an ideal world you sell telles for a reasonable fee to the continent. Williams can be the back up left back and hopefully in time we can sign someone who puts shaw on the bench

I have watched it many times. Initially I blamed Telles for the goal but in reality he and Lindelof was put in such a position that they were always bound to lose. Actually in the movement before the Pukki got away you can see Telles in the background pointing at the two Norwich players running into the box. Once Pukki got away Lindelof and Telles had to deal with Pukki and two other Norwich players. If Telles had marked Dowell, Pukki as you say would have simply squared the ball and it would have been a tap in instead of a header.

it was on lingard ball watching. he is standing on the edge of the box marking nobody. the man drifts off him to the back post and leaves them 2v1 overloaded.

he was awful for both their goals

He completely lacks the physicality for the league... you can't have a full back with such a lack of pace or strength. He's good at striking a ball but will offer us nothing else.

It's a sign of just how awful our scouting and recruitment is really. These things should have been obvious to anyone who had watched him play a lot.

It's so weird. I decided he wasn't good enough after watching him about three times.

We really just needed to look at his running style, it was clear from the start he isn't fit to play in the PL.

He's improved our scoring from corners so he's not all bad

He was shocking against Norwich. Completely missing on the left. I hope Ralf plays Dalot at LB or goes 3 at the back and plays Telles as a LWB.

We have bigger problem on left back than a right back IMO. Telles is not good enough on possession based team because the guy has no composure to retain possession and defensively he's also very poor and can't track his man as well. On top of that we have Shaw who is injury prone or not fit enough and has mental issue on the pitch.

Could argue we need two new left backs. Wouldn't mind seeing Fernandez given some minutes between now and the end of the season.

Telles should leave Man Utd in the summer. He's not cut out for this, on so many levels. I don't see how he's an upgrade on Brandon Williams. As others said its hard to believe Fernandez would be much worse. Another wage sink.

Can’t sell everyone but he must be on list of players we should be happy to sell if there is any interest (pretty big list). I don’t think we’d be any worse off if Williams took his place next season.

Few seasons in, and his best performance is probably his debut one vs PSG? (As a wingback)?

He and Tavares were trying to out sh*te eachother today. Tavares just pipped it though. Still, Telles is awful.

All the players to replace them are at the club Antonio Fernandez, Laird, Garnacho…
