He's currently being linked to us and other clubs on twitter. Could he be one of these good cheap options for fullback? Seeing as ours are lacking currently this season

I’ve seen a fair few tweets of his in the past where he’s liked or quote retweeted Man Utd posts after big wins.

Not that it makes any difference to where he ends up next, mind

Few places already rubbished this saying Arsenal was his preferred choice.
Source? Smith-Rowe and Spence played in the same junior team but that's about it. Also same team as one of our other young lads, Bernard, apparently.

My best mate is a Derby fan, I don't think in the 25 years I have known him he has ever had one positive thing to say about a Forest player ever....until Djed Spence. Said he's "an absolute beast".

Might be worth a gamble at the price?

I think he'd be a very smart signing at the quoted price, problem is as soon as we get involved the figures will end up inflating to £30m and it becomes less of a gamble.

Surely the club will have their eyes on Forest and him because of Garner.

Had a brilliant season, and against good premiership opposition too.

Would be a good acquisition for £15m, however he isn't going to be world class for us.
He'll be a similar level signing to Dan James.

Seen a poster below already reference Garner which is maybe a good bargaining chip...could we offer them Garner for another season as part of the deal maybe?

EDIT | Scratch that, he's on loan isnt he from Boro, so that wont help!

Is there any particular reason he's so cheap if he's that good? I know the AWB deal might have skewed my sense of what a young English fullback should cost but still, it doesn't seem like much.

He’s a Championship full back.

Hardly anyone is world class.

I haven't watched him much live, but from the highlights I've seen of Forest he looks good, a winger type fullback like Lamptey, but benefiting a lot from Cooper's system. I'm not sure he's worth £15m. That's where our scouts should sit and watch full matches of his, and then decide what his ceiling is. Will be interesting to see what kind of signings we do this season with our supposed new structures higher up.

Unfortunately our domestic competition means we need to be rivalling Reece James, Cancelo and TAA. Similarly at DM we need to rival Fabinho, Rodri/Fernandinho, and Kante. I don't think Spence at RB is quite the level we should be looking at.

But to be fair, none of the names you listed started out as world class players but were developed with good coaching and patience, with exception of Kante who was already looking like a top midfielder when signed by Chelsea.

My wit's end
He seems to be more of a dribbler than a playmaker. I think we need the latter in both fullback positions.

James won his place in Chelsea's team by having a strong season for Wigan in the championship, Robertson was also a championship player at one point. For 15 mil we can replace/sell both Dalot, AWB, and rotate Spence with Laird. One important position sorted for cheap.

I actually disagree. I think having playmaking fullbacks would be nice, but ball carrying and dribbling is something sorely lacking in the team. With Martial and Rashford falling off a cliff, and the other guy doing what he did, it is something that sticks out in the side. The only players in my opinion who do it (and the stats back this) are Sancho and Shaw.

Don't Forest play 3 at the back like Cooper did at Swansea. If he's the wing back in a back 3/5 then he's standing out in a system we won't be using next season. It would be a risk considering playing wing back is different than full back, look at [Irrelevant point]. He's excellent as a wing back in a back 3 but isn't as good in a back 4, factor the jump up to Premier League as well and it's too big of a risk for me considering we have Laird as well.

Looks impressive in youtube clips - fast, strong, agile, explosive, good dribbling, can tackle

Not sure about his crossing, positioning and defending in general though, need to watch him playing whole games to understand these aspects. But he surely look flashy on clips.

DJ level is seriously underwhelming, how did you come up with that comparison?
