I would have a hard time to believe CR7 not in ETH's plan next season. He is the only goalscorer in the team and the least of the problem that the new manager needs to deal with.

But you don’t like Ronaldo so can’t see that being much beyond bias.
Thats utter bullshit. I love Ronaldo. Soon as he gets analysed then people think I don't like him

Honestly no offence but if you think Ronaldo as a central striker works in a Pep team that plays in such a way that does not revolve around just creating chance for a striker (and can actually play the whole game without a striker regulary) then that says alot about how you view or understand Pep's Football.

I mean they were literally linked to Kane and apparently Ronaldo would be killing it at City instead.

Anyway, my football understanding can be shit so don't take my word for anything.

Take care.

Love you Ronaldo!

Don’t take mine or anyone else’s word for it on here but Pep clearly disagreed with you. He was desperate to get Ronaldo and thought it was done. I just don’t see how anything we’ve seen this season suggest that’s Ronaldo couldn’t play in that City team and absolutely bang in goals.

Pep was interested in Ronaldo and when asked about it he didn't deny it but said it's up to Ronaldo where he wants to go.

Ronaldo is a once in a generation player who sees the game in another dimension. This isn't unique to Ronaldo but probably a handful of players in the last decade and a dozen few in the last two decades.

When these sort of players become available, you don't think about system or tracking back -- you go for these players because they are that damn good.

Now it's possible it wouldn't have worked out. One such player pep went for initially was Zlatan and Ultimately he didn't work out in Peps system but given how the season went I think it's clear Ronaldo would have bagged goals for fun there.

Again, Pep is not some perfect manager. People forget he's signed plenty of players that hasn't worked out. His expensive signing in Grealish hasn't really been a big hit either, but he definitely was interested in Ronaldo and odds are it would have worked out.

So, Ronaldo’s last game at Old Trafford tonight then?
Doubt it.

But either way it's been great having him this year. Pretty much the only thing this season has been notable for.

His recent flurry of goals has hushed quite a lot of people down funilly enough.
But 23 goals in this shambles of an outfit means that it's almost unfathomable that he wouldn't have pushed through the 30 barrier at a City or someone.

Yep, been the one nostalgic highlight, hoping to see him next season (rotating with a younger striker to keep him fresh).

Someone like DCL could be a decent bet.
A hard working type who won't necessarily expect to start every game, with Ronaldo still being the main man.

I don't think we'll have a choice. Though, the non Europe thing might be to Ronaldo's advantage. Less games to prolong his career since he will have to play Qatar as well.
He might be licking his lips at the prospect of Europa though. Crapper teams, more chance of goals!

Yeah I wouldnt mind someone young who knows in 12 months Ronaldo will be gone, and if he impresses the number 9 position is theirs.

Dunno, has anyone suggested Haaland? :D

Unless Lewandoski leaves Bayern then I reckon we should be able to keep Ronaldo.

And believe me we need to keep him considering he is pretty much out beat player

Ronaldo at the prospect of scoring 20 Europa League goals in one campaign: 'I bet Messi couldn't do this. I am the GOAT'

Let's face it, Europa is a mickey mouse cup. Any goals he gets there won't matter and he knows it. If he was greedy for any goals he would have gone to MLS or Ligue1. Ronaldo is greedy, but greedy for quality accolades.

Keep an eye on his reactions after the game ends, could be sign of whether he's staying or not.

He has a contract so really it's more up to us if he stays.

I doubt he would push hard for a move of Ten Hag wants to keep him which realisticly he should as he is one of our only good players

How can you still be so arrogant when our team is in a mess.
If the Europa is our level, then goals and games there are perfectly valid.

You don't go through Ronaldo's record and say, ooh league cup, doesn't count. Battering Norwich who are crap, doesn't count etc.

I'll stand by whatever Ten Hag decided but if he isn't a good fit there's no good reason to keep a player for an extra year. It's not the kind of football where the striker can have a different set of tactics from every one else.

The real problem is Rashford has no business succeeding him but that's why we're reportedly looking for a striker and that's why it might be best to part ways with CR. No worthwhile striker is signing to play the odd cup game. Ronaldo will still expect to play once a week. Stylistically I also don't think ETH actually plays with his type, Ajax seem to have their striker spending a lot of time in front of the CBs with their back to goal, with a lot of gravitating towards the ball rather than running in behind. If ETH has no plans for him we are risking a potentially tense situation in next year's lockerroom.
I can't wait to see who this replacement player is.

2 games to go and 2 off 20 goals for the season. Doing that in a team as offensively impotent as ours is quite something.

I stand by what I said. He can score 35 goals a season easy.

He does not look or play like a 37 year old.

His form has been fantastic recently. Playing like he’s 10 years younger.

I’ve been critical of him this season but he definitely has something to offer. A new striker needed too, but I think ETH can get another season out of him.

Oh absolutely. A bit more margins on his side and/or better team mates and he would have been there already.

Shame, but feel he might be going. Looked to be almost crying whilst clapping at the end.

It seemed quite a few others were, also. Wonder how many players we are actually going to have left.

I still think he will stay and I really hope he does. Deserves to play in a better Utd team than this, hoping we can provide this next season!
