Say what you want about Ralf but his PR is exceptional.

Forget about PRashford , PRangnick is the master.

It started with something like this:

"We need someone like Ralf to come in and coach this lot, the moments of individual brilliance arent enough anymore. Ole is wasting a squad that is capable of getting top 4 and potentially challenging."

"The godfather of geggenpressing is in the house, I think we will easily make 4th and maybe even close the gap on Chelsea"

Quickly turned to this:

"Ralf doesn't have the players to implement his system."

Rapidly deteriorated to this:

"Nobody else could have came in (Even Klopp or Pep) and done anything with this squad, if you can't see the problems in the squad you are a fool. Top 4 was a pipe dream"

Before ending up here:

"He was never supposed to challenge for top 4 , the whole point of his appointment was to expose the frauds and if you can't see that you are an idiot."

I'm guessing the fact he hired Raphael Honigstein as his media consultant has helped move the goal posts over the past 2/3 months. (I do find it strange that people are quick to point out individual players links to journalists but rarely mention the fact Ralf hired one to deal with the media)

*Your owners , board, management and squad are all at fault.

**Ole was shit too and most outside of United were saying it for years
Summarised perfectly. I thought the Ole-in crowd were crazy but I have to apologise to them, Rangnick's supporters are a different level of delusional.

They are capable of spinning anything into a positive for Ralf.

To a extent it's obvious the players are being completely unprofessional at this stage. They have given up. Playing at walking pace, not listening to instruction, just generally phoning it in. But at the same time, it must be embarrassing to Ralf that he hasn't been able to, you know, manage that side of it at all. He's never convinced the players to work for him at any stage, and that surely would've been his A1 priority.

I didn't expect miracles from the management side of this appointment by any means, but this is basic stuff.

Its funny seeing people turning on Rangnick. He has already stated we need a complete new team. This team needs to be purged. If people think coaching is the issue then they are delusional. These players have mentality issue and that cant be solved. Take few players from this team and build a new one
Failing managers often say that though. Let's see what Ten Hag thinks before taking that as gospel.

Also be careful what you wish for the club let LVG gut the 2014 squad and buy virtually a new squad. ALL his signings almost to a man were horrible.

It’s impossible to say that.

Although I’d give ole the benefit of the doubt as he achieved 2nd and 3rd in consecutive years. Had pretty bad spells in both seasons but managed to dig them out with very respectable finishes. Also we always had the knack at coming back after going behind. Now under Ralf….did anyone think there was any hope at all once Brighton went 2 up?

Albeit this season the bad spell was considerably worse under ole I still don’t think we would not be as bad as we are right now if ole had remained at the helm.

This is not me saying he should be still manager, I’m simply comparing him to Ralf and the games he has been in charge of
I didn't have much hope after we went one down to be honest.

Have we won or drew a game after going 2 down under Ralf?

I genuinely can't remember.

I think he gave up trying to get anything out of the season when the board refused to back him with players in January and now he just plays whatever shit he can be bothered to prove a point to everyone.
Really? An Interim gave up a month after he was hired because they wouldn't buy him players the next manager might not want?

If that were true not only would it be outrageous but also highly unprofessional.

Bang on.

The board has to question ..
1. Whatever recommendations he makes on which players should be moved on, as this could include too many players to be practical, and potentially could include perfectly fine players (when under a competent manager).
2. Is it worth listening to anything he says, i.e. should we just sack off this consultancy as another terrible decision made by the club.

1 game to go and seriously hoping we can at least keep the score respectable. Ralf isn't making changes, he's simply saying the players aren't doing as instructed then playing the same players and getting the same issues.
Ten Hag (hopefully) won't stand for any of that shite from the players and will replace senior players with squad players or youth players. As Ralf genuinely has noting to lose I cannot fathom why he hasn't been bolder in his team selections, the fans will always give leeway to a manager who brings in youth products and lets them adapt to the first team.

The idea he is worst interim of all time is hyperbolic nonsense though. Interim manager failures are ten a penny, they're not brought in because things are good, they are there because things got fecking awful for a reason.
No but they're usually not expected to make things worse either.

He has been mostly awful, hasn't he?

Just like Ole, refused to drop players who constantly under performed.

Just like Ole, very passive on the touchline when the players were performing bad & needed a kick up the ass.

Talks a good game but fails to get his overpaid players to play a good game on the pitch where it counts.

The most vital aspect of Rangnick's appointment was always the consultancy. His administration. His influence on consulting with regards to helping the internal structure of the club move forward.

His coaching and managerial interim period has indeed been very poor, but that is short-term. If a six month period is the most pressing issue to you, right now, then you're paying heed to the symptoms and not the cause.

How he performs in the major role he was intended to occupy moving forward, alongside Erik and Murtaugh, will be the true determination of whether Ralf is a good fit or not.
The revisionism continues. He was brought in to save the season and improve the team.

The consultancy was an after thought, United had to give him something because he had a long term contract in Russia.

You can go back over my posts and you will see that I’d been Ole out for over two years prior to his sacking. The guy was out of his depth and should never have been appointed.

I find it astonishing that I truly believe that we would have been far better off over this last six month period with Solskjaer in charge. Rangnick has been a fecking disaster.

I’m 41 years old and I can’t think of a worse Manchester United manager in my life time.

He is a fraud....basically a German Ole. Not ruthless to drop under performing players. Muted on the bench. Clueless. And how do you explain he sub in Maquire when already 4 - 0 down?

There’s no evidence that the club saw him as a consultant first and an interim manager second. There is bags of evidence to suggest the other way around. Reports at the time suggested we wanted him as interim and the consultancy was something he insisted on. Rangnick himself has said multiple times he was brought in to make top 4. Not a single reputable source has said the consultancy was the major role he was really intended for. This is something posters have made up and repeated so many times they’ve actually started to believe it themselves.

Do you seriously believe that an undefined consultancy, where Rangnick himself said a couple of months ago that he had no idea what it entailed, is the main reason he was hired? The reason it exists (I’m guessing) is because he wasn’t willing to leave a 3 year contract in Russia for a 6 month gig. I think it’s purely financial.

He is a terrible manager let’s be honest. I refused to believe we are that shit. When I watch us I see we are more disorganised than playing with just shit players. No shape No organisation No system. We don’t know what we are doing on the pitch. Yes, Some of the players are just shit. The likes of telles, AWB, dalot and Mctominay are terrible footballers but most of the team aren’t and I also don’t agree with the point that the players don’t care anymore. There might be cliques , confidence might be absolutely shot , there might be a chance that players aren’t giving 100% but there also might be a chance that Rangnick is an awful awful manager which evidence suggests he is.

You can’t tell me that results and performances would be the same under Conte. I like Rangnick’s honesty and I hope he helps us in his consultancy role but to say only the players are at fault here is being dishonest. I hope we do get rid of some absolute cloggers and overrated egotistical players playing for this club and I include Rashford in that too but we aren’t getting rid of everyone and I can assure you next season under ten hag we would see massive improvements with mostly the same players.

A manager brought into a sinking ship asked the captain for a couple of life wests and a rescue boat but got shafted. That's when I knew this season was going down the drain. That's when the players knew he wasn't here to stay.

Nah, guys dont believe this nonsense. If the players are not following instructions then why doesn't he change them. Ralf is just a horrible manager. Why not play the academy. We would rather lose 10 nil using kids rather than watch that nonsense. Dude would rather play badly across multiple games rather than make any changes as a manager. Its as if he powerless, nothing he can do, and yet he wears the infinity guantlet. Ralf is a good director of football but a terrible manager

Yea I changed my mind. Pretty hard to defend that.

We had better patterns of play under Ole than this guy.

German are honest and frank, he probably dished it to the individual and team that they need to improve individually and as a team. The players probably took it negativity and collectively they decided to tune out. There is no point playing these players. Pull in the U-23 to play the last game of the season. I don't even care we lose 5-0. At least, we can say it was the U-23 playing rather than fielding our best XI. Let's put it this way since Glazer took over, this team is run by amateur with wrong appointments year in and year out. When world class manager becomes available, they don't go for them. They keep appointing has-been and crowd favorite. Hopefully ETH brings something different, I hope he get fund to buy at least 7 XI. 2 FB, 1 CB, 2 MD, 1 ST and 1 RW. That's how many players we need.

Pretty clear the players for the most part can't stand him, and for the most part he can't stand the players.

I maintain that he speaks more sense on what's needed to fix our issues than anyone else post SAF and given his track record we should use his pedigree in club building going forward.

However when you think about it wouldn't the smart decision have been to hire an interim manager with more managerial quality and Rangnick in an executive capacity? Why did he have to be manager when that's not what he has been good at?

Dunno whats the discussion here, you have to be really deluded to think that RR didnt fail, as interim role he failed hard, its simple as that. Is he worst manager we ever had? No, his sample isnt comparable with others, you can kick and scream as much as you want, thats a fact.

He came as interim, tried his way, feckers couldnt do it, he tried his formation, feckers couldnt do it, he tried with his training regime, feckers didnt like it, his man managment didnt sync with a squad filled with feckers, he got some assistents, feckers were mocking them, all in all they knew he is interim and wont get more than few months, so feck him, board didnt green light transfers because he is interim.

At the end he tried to adapt to that squad, seems he has no idea what to do outside his own way, he made decisions regarding picking first XI, first team in general, way of play etc. Those decisions led us to where we are right now and he failed as feck in his interim role. The End.

Yeah his actual interim stint has been disappointing but there's a reason his name was never in the caretaker polls. I'm more interested in adding one more head to our rather unimpressive structure, Not like that lot have a much better CV as an exec. Although a bit embarrassed for our fans who wanted him permanent after two games. Not to be a dick but jesus we have to wise up to these things at some point. Was actually fearful it would happen. No doubt someone at the club was already preparing the 5 year extension.

Yeah, pretty much. I really don’t understand it. Just because you rated Ralf before he he came in doesn’t mean you can completely ignore the obvious. He’s been shit. 100%. Yeah, the players have some responsibility here, but we are staring at 50 years since a manager of United has been this bad.

Except that's not true is it

Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo only joined the club this season

Maguire, AWB, Lindelof, Telles, Fred, McTominay, Bruno, Cavani have only really known Ole onwards (some barely having played under Mourinho)

So that leaves De Gea, Jones, Shaw, Pogba, Matic, Mata, Lingard, Rashford and Martial as the only ones that you can really say have been front and centre throughout the Mourinho to now period most of whom have been in and out of the team and these performances all season
Good post. I mean, most of those performed from Jose and Ole with the exception of Jones, Lingard, additionally martial and Pogba at times… just can’t understand why Ralf has been so bad with them. Couple that with the fact that Ronaldo and Varane are so decorated… really hoping that Ten HAg can come in with a pair of 10 pound balls and get them playing.

Should have kept Ole or Carrick and hire Rangnick as DoF let him work behind the scene. Now we are getting the worst of him (coaching) and at risk of losing the best of him (administration), another clusterfeck decision by our clueless board.

United players can’t pass to each other, defend with each other, no chances outside of wonder passes, can’t read the space, can’t dribble. What tools does the manager have to work with really?
That's the point of a manager isn't it?

I guess in Rangnick‘ mind, he would think " give me 3 transfer windows and I can replace all of these deadwood with $50M and perform better. "

He always commented in pre-match presser that " it's up to our players to improve performance and give a response" . He virtually believes it's not his role to motivate the players which would help drive better results.

We may argue that RR did not perform his interim manager role well as he did not make us Top 4 . On the other hand he has laid a good start for his consultant role, as he has exposed who in this squad can be trusted and have the mentality to bounce back in adversity (which is none) , and this will guide the next steps of rebuild.

If we really like to challenge the title in future, his approach of exposing the weakness and then trouble-shooting from there might be better than getting us top 4 by maintaining false harmony and driving short-term results.

People still “love his honesty”… but why do any of us assume everything he says is the truth? He has thrown players under the bus in the press which suits the scapegoat culture of our increasingly toxic fanbase. That’s not how you build a team though. It’s not leadership. Players have refuted the facts, but it’s widely assumed they’re being dishonest. He’s come out and said the board didn’t sign players just because he recommended them… then went on to drop the names of 3 very different players. He let Martial & VDB go rather than play them, kept Lingard & didn’t play him, didn’t play the youth… then apparently (according to him) gave the board “48hrs” to beat City, Liverpool, or Juve to the signing of a striker of no particular description. Yet we turn around and say “Ole built this squad”. He has & will blame everyone & there are fans who will back him in doing so.

Managers are not hired to try playing Southampton’s formation at Manchester United without concern for results, they’re hired to win football matches, galvanise & positively represent the club, bring through youth, improve player value… he’s done the absolute opposite of all of that.

I’m not saying the playing staff aren’t spoiled millionaires… but PR aside, that’s modern top level footballers on the whole. Other managers can get them to play the game that rewards them so much in their short careers.

Btw, his whole “we need 10 new players”… when nearly all above him have gone (American parasites aside)… that’s covering his tracks.

The longer this goes on, the more Ralf comes across as a narcissist.

The excuses he has been getting is nauseating to say the least. I judge him as a manager , which he has failed miserably. He may become a great consultant for us but still as a manager the guy has been a utter dross. It's funny how Ole Jose all were abused left right and center and yet both of them did a much much better job than RR.

Very well said. It seems the guy was hired to just show his shit the club is and himself do nothing to fix that at least somewhat on interim basis. I can't stand most of our players but I keep on thinking what did RR do as a manager. Funny enough how the feck has Austria appointed him as a manager.

Disappointing to miss out on CL football next year but on the other hand we have hopefully secured the manager we need and identified the players who need to stay and those that need to go. Could have been much worse.

Shame we haven't rid ourselves of our owners though.

Should have just stuck with Carrick for all the good this chap has done.
Maybe have just hired him to do some "honest" interviews instead.

We bring on a central defender to try and stop Brighton from conceding even more goals. A perfect example of how far Utd have fallen and tactically inept this has all been this season. Rangnick has simply pointed fingers at everyone except himself for the failure just so he can protect himself from any criticism. We were calling out Mourinho for doing similar, and rightly in my book.
