No fullbacks is concerning
Also, if we have limited budget, it makes sense to address the spine of the team first. Even though full backs are very important in modern game, we should sort out our core first to control games and stop leaking goals

I guess it depends on how he sets the team up, don't be surprised to see maybe Lindelof feature as a fullback for example, or if we get Timber to see him feature as a FB. I'm reserving judgement on static "positions" because I know the way Ten Hag plays doesn't necesarilly lend itself to static positions
There's no way he'd put someone like Lindelof as FB. Full backs are quite important for his system. Maybe McT or Fred being retrained? It sounds crazy but he's re-positioned lost CMs into key fullbacks before I think.

Honestly I think the full backs (or lack of) are very integral to the spine. Lets see I guess.

We need better ones, but if we can only get 4 players this summer - then those are clearly priorities we need to sort out as soon as possible.

I know he likes one of his full backs to be able to play CB to form a back 3 in possession but he likes the other full back to join in with the attacks to increase numbers when attacking.

I want to see full backs too but I am also aware that Shaw has it in him to be the best in the league.

As far as right backs go, I don’t share the caf consensus of Wan-Bissaka either and feel he could still offer something. Dalot is rubbish but we also have Laird. For a manager who has retrained players, I can also see more of a top right back in Elanga than a top class forward too.

I was given to understand Ten Hag is set to start mid-June to early-July. So not going to happen. Besides, starting his tenure here with a thumping by Crystal Palace is hardly the way to go.
Some on here would genuinely be blaming a decade of poor decisions on him. They think any manager can tactic his way with any team yo victory in a given match.

Are we really going all in on ten hag?
Let's say 70 mill for de jong and if rumors are to be believed another 70 mill for de ligt.

That's 140 mill for just those 2 , if we really want to expand on the other areas we must be going nuts in the market.

A versatile forward. Now who can that be? I don’t think it’ll be Darwin Nunez since he’s a pure centre forward and a number 9?

I thought he works through the channels quite effectively in games? If Leeds get relegated you'd think Raphina is a snip. Otherwise I'm thinking Richarlson from Everton given reports

I think we should back him 100%. If those are the two he wants, we should try and get them. I always worry when a manager goes for his ex-players though, maybe it is just lazy journalism.

Can't do it all in just one window. Realistically we'd have to replace the entire squad, but let's do one thing at the time. Fixing this disastrous midfield would go a long way to fixing this mess.

Yeah I agree, I really rated ten hag ever since his ucl semi run in 2018 but this is just a bit uncharacteristic of our board.

Also while I think we should back him, there's always a chance of failure and us ending up with players that may not fit the next managers plan.
(Both de jong and de ligt are modern and versatile players so hopefully that won't be too much of a concern)

i really hope ETH has identified at least 2 central midfielders he wants to bring in. I just cant imagine Mcfred will be key to implementing his style. If we do see that continue i can pretty much guarantee he will have the same fate as everyone else he tried to trot that trash out there. Fix the spine of the team in window one and will make a huge difference

looks like a minimum of 4 players coming in

Good stuff. I think an actual RW should be a priority, but we have so many places to fix that I think any area we target is okay.

I know what you mean and this is where the management or DoF need to play a role in the recruitment process. Even if the manager fails, we should be signing players that fit the overall vision of United's style moving forward.

Why no fullbacks sir!?

Can you actually get something out of AWB? Dalot is definitely nowhere NEAR the required quality, unless you're going to promote Fernandez/Jurado.

Every rebuild must start with defense. Need a CB, a CDM and a RB minimum.

First make the defense solid.

Will be nice to have a gaffer who will implement an actual style from us, and demand very high conditioning levels from the players. The time for feckin about is over..the day of Reckoning is at hand.

Just because they didn't mention it, doesn't mean we are not going to change our FB roster. We've already been linked to 2 fullbacks in Malacia and Sosa.

I think those 4 signings are the priorities in order to fill in the gaps. When it comes to other areas of the pitch, I'm fairly certain it will depend on the outgoings. We might have to sell Telles, Bailly and Jones to fund a new fullback.

If we sell Henderson, we'll be in the market for a new back up GK. Ten Hag loves his ball playing GKs and he will want variation. etc etc

This is how you do it. Finally we have a manager who is proactive and doesn't just go with the flow. And apparently, to my absolute surprise - apparently the club's management, as well.

From the looks of it, Klopp and Pep are here to stay. They will be at their respective clubs for many years to come. In order to compete against them, we need a coach who can match their genius. I don't know much about ETH apart from his time at Ajax, but I really do hope he will be able to match up with them. Otherwise, we won't get near the league title for many many years. We also need our management to fully back our manager like Liverpool and City have done for so many years. It's going to be a long road for us, but I'm hoping at the very least, it's an enjoyable one where we start playing beautiful football consistently.
