This is why United is still one of the top jobs in the world and certainly at the moment. They want to be the guy who gets United back to greatness again and they know if they do it, it puts them in the pantheon of United itself, as well as the one of great managers.

Are we really going all in on ten hag?
Let's say 70 mill for de jong and if rumors are to be believed another 70 mill for de ligt.

That's 140 mill for just those 2 , if we really want to expand on the other areas we must be going nuts in the market.
Based on today's report, ideally ETH wants a CB, 2 midfield, and versatile forward this summer.

Let's say if it is the case we sign FDJ and De Ligt. 140m euro is like 120m pounds.

We could still get Kamara for free for 2nd midfielder and then getting this versatile forward using whoever we can sell (Bailly, Rashford, Dean) which something like 70m-75m.

I suspect Denzil Dumfries would be on Ten Hag’s wish list, maybe that’s what he means with versatile attacker (ie full back)

That may be a a bit of a wishful thinking but that would easily be our best transfer window since Fergie left.
we also said that about the last one , it didn't end so well....

MUFC fans see it that way. But I assure you, if a manager could get to manage a club competing for trophies, they'd see that as more attractive.
The aim of all sport people is to win....not to try and bring back a sleeping giant.
The odds of ETH succeeding here, are ridiculously small. If moved to say Bayern Munich, odds are that he would win trophies from Year 1.

MUFC fans need to be more realistic. I do feel that ETH's myth is being so over-hyped, if he doesn't win the treble in his first season, some fans are going to demand he be fired.

Klopp left Dortmund for Liverpool. It's similar to ETH leaves Ajax for United. If anything Klopp is more daring since Dortmund at that time was winning Bundesliga, put a challenge on Bayern and did very well in final UCL, leaving for a team that probably has less resources than United. Every manager with passion would love this type of challenge imo.

The fact that he is looking at FDJ already shows me that he knows where we’ve lacked for years now; a press resistant DLP who makes the team tick. That is more important than a straight up DM IMO. So good signs early on.

There is significantly less than zero chance of Rashford leaving.

Klopp left Dortmund because he nearly got them relegated. He went to Liverpool 6 months later.

No fullbacks is concerning
If that CB is the Timber kid from Ajax, then you can pretty much count that as a RB.

Someone said he plays as RB too, and even his CB role is very unorthodox. Plenty of freedom to getting out of position and venture forward, and stay there till the end of attacking phase.

Timber plays DF or CB, not on the wing

Klopp didn't leave Dortmund for Liverpool. Dortmund struggled a lot during his last season, both the club and Klopp decided that they were at the end of their cycle, it was announced in April 2015. He then joined Liverpool in October 2015 when they were underwhelming and going in the wrong direction.

The squad can’t be rebuilt in one window without unlimited funds. A massive part of his remit is to get much more out of the players we already have. So some compromise will have to be had. Adding two CMs, a CB and a forward certainly addressed our biggest problem areas, in the zones that will have the most impact on the pitch immediately. It doesn’t mean there aren’t other areas to address. He is almost certainly looking at at least one top quality right back, a ball playing GK, and another forward for future windows, but we have to stay within the realms of financial viability, and that can’t all be done at once. If we were able to offload Maguire, and AWB for decent fees in this window, we’d probably get one or two more of the players we need, but there’s a lot of ifs there. The more likely scenario is that all the free agents will leave, plus one or two more. And 4-5 at most will come in. Then he will have to coach the shit out of the players he has left.

If we are lucky we might get one more in January, but more probably 2-3 more next summer as a couple more go out.

I won't say I know better, but I have heard from people who followed Ajax , and posters on here saying he also plays RB.
He has done but not often. Basically most teams park the bus against Ajax so he mostly plays CB and basically keeps moving in a DF position especially with the positional & pressing game Ajax play.

Can’t believe he’s talking like this while we still have a manager in charge.

I'm normally negative where United are concerned, I mean why wouldn't you be after 9 years of disastrous management. But I have a good feeling about this guy. Given enough time and backing I think he'll turn us into a real force again.

Does Ten Hag start work 1 June or 1 July officially?
His contracts offically starts 1st July but he's already had meeting regarding recruitment. And according to reports, wants the players in to start pre season 20th June, which is about 2 weeks earlier than planned.
It starts end of this season.

Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Erik ten Hag as Men’s First Team Manager, subject to work visa requirements, from the end of this season until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year.
