It’s not a toss up.. We just don’t like Pogba at United. He’s better than De Jong and PSG fans will not see it that way. We lose Mbappe and you give us De Jong. Just saying it sounds off.
We lose Mbappe and you give us Pogba sounds just as off...

Just a lot of noise to try to avoid PSG’s wrath. This was probably decided a year ago and they want to make it look like he is keeping his options open until his contract runs out.

You should replace Mbappe with a physical hard working CF who can put in the graft for Neymar and Messi. With two top attackers who don't press that much, Pogba doesn't quite make sense.

Fair play on being his own man with his decision, I'm sure the family and societal pressure on him to stay in Paris was insane but he knew what he wants it seems like. Also gives him his best chance at winning a Ballon D'Or

If true means Pogba will not get anywhere near the salary he wants at RM.
He would in Paris, still think he'll go where he has the best chance at winning things. If it was about the money he'd have signed that long term deal with us already

How utterly boring to go to Madrid. Why not create history with a different club? Madrid winning another 3-4 CL means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I am reminded of grizemann, could have been a Atletico legend if he stayed, had the team structured around him, but no made the stupid decision to go to Barcelona and play second fiddle to messi. Players are idiots.

Was either that or Liverpool realistically so I don't mind one bit

Already have to deal with Haaland playing in our backyard :(
Liverpool was never realistic lets be honest. They dont pay the highest wages in PL. They wouldnt have broken their wage structure for mbappe especially since they need to renew salah and mane soon.

Insane how any club would have given up €150m just to keep a player for 1 more season.
€180m wasnt it? When FFP means nothing to you and you can bend the rules then ut doesnt matter i suppose. I would have sold him last summer for €180mil.

You being sarcastic? Real are one of the global teams in world football. His status will go up 10x if he is a success at Madrid. No one cares about PSG.

Should have demanded the fee Madrid were willing to pay last season as his signing on fee

If it's the case then it strengthens @dinostar77 point. Is it better to be Di Stefano or Gareth Bale?

The point is simple. If Mbappe takes Real back to being the number one team in the world then that will give him much better exposure than helping PSG oil barrens win some hollow tin pot.

Looking at those numbers, you can see why more players are letting their contracts run down

I think he’ll tear it up there, and honestly I’m glad a player like him has moved away from the French league, was always going to be wasted there at his age.

I get what you are saying but the point made by dinostar is that it's better to be the one making history then be a follower. It's interesting that people look down on clubs for a lack of relevance and also don't want players to make clubs relevant.

If the figures are true, he is giving up quite a lot of money, although there is obviously a high transfer commision.
I would prefer the announcement after the Champions League final.

So annoying how they always land on their feet. This time 3 years ago they’d had one of the worst seasons in their recent history, 68 points in the league and being sent packing in the CL by Ajax, after losing a striker who scored 50 goals a season for them. It’s only been 3 years and they’re chock full of top players, talented prospects and are about to sign the best footballer in the world for the next decade.

Real Madrid have problems to replace their aging players though, how do you replace Modric?

This signing should be the start of a new dynasty for Real, though Ronaldo had a much better supporting cast. From the upcoming generation they have only Camavinga, Vinicius and Courtoius are of a similar calibre to the previous. They can't sign the best players from the PL any more so in one sense it'll be harder for them to get a Modric or a Bale.

It is a bit peculiar though that their 3 best young attacking options will be players who all do better on the LW. I assume it's going to be Vini playing there but Mbappe is better there too. He's not all round striker like Benzema is.

Keep in mind that the source for the other offer is Le Parisien who have been inexplicably terrible regarding PSG news in the last 18-24 months.

We used to do that under SAF, as he rebuilt his many teams time and time again. But we didn't build on the great 2007 team because we were paying something stupid like 50m a year on interest on the debt, and so the team withered while we signed Owen, Overran and Valencia. Can you imagine Real making signings like that? Just another point in the long great legacy of the Glazers.
