The club have scrapped the club's annual Player of the Year ceremony in the wake of their worst-ever Premier League season.

Actually a good idea. No one needs celebrating this year

I swear we've scrapped this the last 8 or 9 years since Fergie

Should have done it over half the seasons, post SAF. Better late than never I guess

Thank God. This would have been an utter embarrassment. I know we have no shame but surely not to this degree.

I disagree on this. They should've given it to Maguire. As he said, he is starting, so he must be playing well

I have absolutely no doubt the real reason it was scrapped is that the atmosphere is so bad that none of them could stand the thought of seeing each other for an extra evening.

Thinking about it, they should do what my old corporate league team did and have a COTY (cnut of the Year) award.

Would be an exciting field based on this past season.

I would have waited to see if we qualified for the Europa League next season before taking such drastic action.
Based on the vitriol aimed at all the social media posts they’ve put out in the last 6 months, having an awards ceremony for the worst PL finish ever would only compound the “Glazers don’t care as long as they get their dividend” narrative

I like it, but surely this is not true. If it is, very good. They know this has been nowhere near good enough and there is really no one to blame but themselves.

Players “were too embarrassed” but we still have clowns on here defending them and attacking the managers.

Finding it hard to believe these players are blaming themselves instead of everyone/everything else.

Entitled lazy cnuts the lot of them.

God help ETH.

Ronaldo probably requested this, I'm sure he'd be far too embarrassed to collect all the awards after such a poor season.

Wow, crazy levels for self-awareness being shown by our club given previous actions.

So the ceremony is scrapped but the award is going ahead still?
