I'm sorry but what is this talk about Ronaldo and counter attacks? He's the best counter attack player of all time. He was a part of some of the best counter attacking goals in recent years with Juventus and Portugal.

If anything playing a high line is what exposes him for his decline. Not sitting back and counter attacking. He can still sprint just fine.

He can do everything in a counter attack. Pace it and open space for a through ball, drag 2 defenders to free up a teammate (vs Germany Euro 2020), finish the attack, drop back into his own midfield to lay off a one touch pass with a simple touch, a backheel pass, a volleyed backheel, his chest, his head, his shoulder.... Ronaldo should be the pivot on a counter from, let's say, a corner, teammate gets the ball near United's area, pass into ronaldo which is running towards United's goal to drag a defender out of position, while 2 teammates are running in the other direction towards the opponent's goal, through the sides. Ronaldo one touch pass into one of these 2 players and suddenly there's space everywhere. There's quite a few good examples of this even this season at United. Just needs a consistent system that's exploited, and practice, practice, and every player getting used to these routines and movements.

There's one from earlier in the season, right before he left Juventus, which was spectacular. Ronaldo-Chiesa-Dybala combined for the perfect counter attack. Across the all field in 6 seconds.

Our players have zero chemistry which is a shame.

Didn't remember it, but found a 8 second video of it:

Yeah, beautiful to watch. Yeah I think chemistry can improve with current players here, they should practice, practice, practice, create routines, understand how each other moves.

ˆ Old, finished Ronaldo is as good as many players right now in their prime. Says all there needs to be said. I'm not going to pretend he is as complete as he used to, or as complete as other forwards right now in PL, but still, it's nothing short of amazing how he keeps going. Big respect for that Ibrahimovic season too at 36. I remember people repeating ad nauseum in his Football Forum thread how "the decline will will be fast and he'll disappear in 2 years", when he was 32, 33, 34... and yet here we are.

He's staying too, apparently. I think he just feels he needs to prove himself again. He has felt like an 18 year old breaking onto the scene his entire career. He's come here and feels like he needs to do something amazing, like if he hadn't done it once already in England. His football has always been amazing, but what I'm really a fan of is his mind. Hopefully I can see United and him win again together, just one more time.

Given his recent comments about Ten Hag and him posing in next season's shirt, I'm guessing he will be here. I wonder given his home situation if a bit of stability right now might be exactly what the family are looking for.

feck that. We need to bring in a quality forward (Nunez for example) to be a starter, with Ronaldo being used as a squad player.
I'm not too convinced of Nunez if I am honest...

I have only seen him in a couple of UCL games vs Ajax and Liverpool and while he has scored vs them, his general all-round play and in particular his linkup play was the one where I did raise my eyebrows a bit. I must admit his finishing is top though and considering his age he will hopefully only get better with his all-round play. However, I am not sure the current Nunez is the 'quality' you are asking for to just dislodge Ronaldo like that and push him to the bench. IMO, I still see Ronaldo ahead of him but I could be wrong and I hope I am because if he is good enough to start ahead of Ronaldo we could potentially have some striker on our hands for at least the next 7-10 years!

Every few months, Ronaldo is talking about his ambition of winning more Ballon D'or and people on here think he'll stay as a bench player

He should be rotated. At least if people put his shit spell down to him being overplayed.

I'm sure "Arnolds Burner" knows more about Ronaldo's future than Romano - who has already said he is staying.

This Arnold burner guy is a pretty nothing account but Romano really doesn’t know what will happen. He maintained last summer that Ronaldo was staying at Juve too until very late so his statements don’t mean all that much. A lot can happen between now and the end of the transfer window.

It could be true.

But logically, why on earth would anyone argue to this point for the last game with nothing much to play for with a manager who will have nothing to do with the squad management after this game?

Well, who knows footballers can be that stupid?

Shame he didn't play today to try and get that nicely rounded 25 for the season, but probably a thankless task today anyway.

24 goals and 18 league ones is a good output for this dreadful outfit.

Really hope there's something better next year from everyone!

Will have to be benched more with world cup in middle of next season. if Portugal go deep he won't be starting all the xmas games that's for sure and statistically that was his poorest run of the season.

United may be the perfect club for him to prepare for the World Cup.

He can rest in England and be excused from all Europa League group stage fixtures.

Reading the recent "Behind The Scenes" stories in The Athletic and MEN, his tendency towards petulance and the issues he causes tactically worry me in regards to ETH next year.

But we have so many other issues that ETH will just have to wrestle those problems for a year.

Wouldn't be surprised if he did have a fall out with Rangnick considering he spoke about him recently saying he won't press etc.

I don't think he will be leaving next year though unless Bayern or somebody come in for him.

It’s funny when you have everyone here all season saying that Ronaldo not pressing isn’t a problem and then you have his manager Rangnick openly saying that he can’t play how he wants to because of Ronaldo and has to compromise. Ten Hag will have the same issues. I can’t see him leaving because I can’t see who would take him.

He should be leaving, ETH will have another huge problem, tactically, if he's still around here next season where he obviously will be even worse than this season. A parody signing.

Not sure it was Ronaldo's fault alone/entirely as our whole team sucks at pressing - but yes clearly he isn't going to be leading the press for 90 minutes at his age.

the issue is without him we looked completely toothless. We just currently don't have any other options.

A big summer is needed.

It’s bizarre but then what do you expect when many here are more interested in supporting ”CR7” than they are in supporting Manchester United.

PL games he didn’t play: (2D 3L)

Aston Villa 2:2
Leicester 1:1
City 1:4
Liverpool 0:4
Crystal Palace 0:1

PL games he didn’t start: (3D)

Chelsea 1:1
Burnley 1:1
Everton 1:1

Cup games he didn’t play: (1W 1D 1L)

West Ham 0:1
Young Boys 1:1
Villa 1:0

Total PL games he didn’t start/play:
5D 3L in 8 games

Total games he didn’t start/play:
1W 6D 4L in 11 games

Let’s just say, our problems are far bigger/deeper than him joining us.

He's only got one year left on his contract so, he can move on at the end of next season if it doesn't work out. It's not really a big problem.

I was sure that he’ll be gone, but i just don’t see Bayern being able to afford his wages, it’s not the type of deal they do.

I think he’ll want to leave after a better season too. As for ETH, of course he wants him to stay. What manager in their right mind gets rid of a 20+ goals a year player? Don’t be fooled by the caf’s “experts”.

He's a disaster for the dressing room at this stage of his career, all the stories coming to indicate the same.

What did he do besides notice that the team wasn't very good?
I'm sure they can find players to replace him -- ones that think the existing team are beyond dreamy.
