Converted cb? Blind? The well known utility player who has throughout his career regularly played at CB, LB,LWB and DM.
He’s been atrocious on his coverage over us for a good few years now. I think he had a direct source during the Moyes era and ever since then he’s been salty against us
Timber has played as RB, CB and as DM. He is faster than Blind which makes his transition to a RB easier

Well in theory they're both more passive, game-reading, ball-playing style defenders rather than being a more aggressive, physically combative style of CB.
The issue with the comparison is that a lot of defenders fit that rough profile, many of whom are obviously far better than Lindelof. For example Torres is more commonly compared to Laporte, who also fits that description but who would obviously waltz into our team. If as a fanbase we hadn't been driven to irritation watching Lindelof over the last few years, that negative comparison wouldn't be on our minds.
However, given we have Varane who also fits that more passive mold of CB, it's worth asking whether another CB of that ilk is what we really need right now.
This guy is a baller.Just worried he might find the EPL too physical for him.
I honestly don’t think he’s great defensively but on the ball he is very good and he is decent in the air as well. Wouldn’t be over the moon if we got him but he is an upgrade over Lindelof, though not a massive upgrade IMO.

I think if we sign Torres or Timber and sell Wan Bissaka and sign a RB as reported by James Ducker, then I can see ten Hag playing a variation of the 3-4-3/3-4-2-1, which may suit us best.

If we were to play 4 at the back, could you see us playing Timber at right back? A lot of posters seem to assume that would be the case. Especially if we were to sign Timber and Torres.You could possibly also just sign Torres and Timber and use Timber at RB in a system where the fullbacks invert?
So essentially becoming a 3-4-3 in possession with the back three being two of Varane/Maguire/Torres + a fullback, with the second fullback moving into the midfield four.
Absolutely. There's a lot of flexibility in the formation for a head coach like ten Hag who implements positional rotation in different phases of play.
Ten Hag will play each player to enhance his system, so it's possible Timber could be utilised as a inverted fullback in a back 4 or a CB in a back 3, in a 3-4-3/3-4-2-1.Cafu would be a terrific signing
We also have to remember that ten Hag is influenced via the principles of Cruyff/Michels, so having players who can play several positions is very beneficial to his approach to playing the game.

Sounds like a signing that would make a lot of sense. Tactical flexibility is key. It may take a little time, but I'm looking forward to watching a dominant, cohesive side who operate within a specific tactical framework that helps mask individuals weaknesses. Appreciate the reply.
It's always the obvious transfers with us. The 'names' rather than guys who meet specific needs or who will complement other players in the squad. Van de Beek, Ronaldo, AWB. None of them actually fit the way the team wanted to play when we signed them.
Gvardiol's stats are insane for his age but am I wrong in thinking he's more frequently used in a back three with licence to operate almost like a wing back?
Have you seen the interview ? Basicly what targets United should get like Rice or other ready made players , and at the same time reporting United budget would be around 75m and only Rashford has some value in selling. He also praised Liverpool for buying players like Wijnaldum and Robertson for cheap and turning them into world class, but thinks it will be a bad move by United to target players in eredivisie etc. He also said something about Ten Hags not having control over transfers, and a lot more im sure is bs.
He suggested we should sell Rashford for £50m (ignroing the fact he's one of only 3 senior attackers we'll have at the start of next season), and sign 2 quality players with that £50m... I'm not sure if he's living in 2004 but how many great players does he think are going for £25m a piece?
There's no point asking a journalist for their opinion, they have no more clue about football than a random guy off the street. They should stick to factual reporting only.
Jones should have his contract terminated, sell Tuanzebe. I wouldn’t mind selling Maguire or Varane or both. Get DeLigt and Torres. Lindelof can stay.

also in terms of rehashing stories he clearly does a news round up every morning , he’s not taking others stories and claiming to be his own, he has his own sources with different information and lately they have made much more sense than 90% of the crap out there.
Howson isn’t worth talking about utter gutter level stuff.

There's time he's hyperemotional, and there is times he is entertaining and bright. I prefer his post-match stuff to United View and Stretford Paddock.
Pretty much makes sense, no CDM to the winter window, Timber can play right back CDM and CB and may play there at home games with Dalot as right wing back. This is already looking like 5 players Max plus Sam Johnstone on as a free to replace Henderson. Two Defenders, one Centre Midfield, One Striker and maybe a left footed right winger max.

I haven't watched a ton of Villarreal but the games I have seen I haven't been overly impressed with Torres. He's a solid defender but apart from being left footed I'm not sure he is much of an upgrade on Maguire. Timber is the one. Pacy, strong, reads the game and has amazing potential.
