Of course he is manager of the season. He doesn’t have anywhere near the resources of Pep and took him to the final game. It’s not a hard thing to process.

Just like Spurs had a better league campaign than Chelsea, or West Ham had a better league campaign than United.

Expectation is all on Pep.

How can he win PL manager of the season? I’m sure when the season started, one of the Klopp’s, and Liverpool’s sims was to win the league. They didn’t. So why does Klopp get an award for failing to reach his aim? Strange one for me.

Better arguments could be made for Pep, Thomas Frank, Potter or at a stretch Conte.

Find it impossible to dislike him. Deserved award.
Granted there's not too many these days, but just look at a losing press conference of his. His incessant whining and comments drive me up the wall.

Weird thing is Klopp winning this despite coming second and having no real injuries to deal with this season. He all but had his best XI to pick from every match and was able to rotate at will. The most testing time for him he managed to fake covid tests and rearrange his fixtures.

Pep had to work a lot harder to paper over cracks and cover missing key players.

That’s before you get on to Eddie Howe who turned Newcastle’s season on its head.

I don't know why we need to tie ourselves in knots with silly statements like this. How could you possibly know "for sure" that PL is "much much" harder to win? Yes, SAF has an underwhelming record in Europe for a multitude of reasons. Big deal. He never claimed to be perfect. Still the greatest manager in the history of the game.
Glad you agree that SAF is still the greatest manager in the history of the game.
Now that for sure is not a silly statement.

There's only one United!
Jurgen klopp - 554 m Sterling spent

1 PL in 7 attempts
1 FA Cup in 7 attempts
1 League cup in 7 attempts
Possibly 2 CL's in 5 attemps
0 Europa Laugue's in 1 attempt

Total 4/5 trophies from a possible 27 .

Overrated?

I'm not sure how he's won PL manager of the season. He finished 2nd!
I'm not sure but maybe the award is sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline, Merck and AstraZeneca.

Who gives the runner up the best manager award ffs
So it should just be the manager of the champions each year? Might as well abolish the award in that case.

They have obviously taken into account the domestic cups. Not saying they should have, since it's PL manager of the season, but it's clear that they have. Had City won one of the two cups, it would likely (and rightfully) have been Pep.

Excellent, love how Klopp pulls him back in and tells him to grit his teeth for the camera. Not much of a perch really.
Silly comment. It’s more interesting that Klopp had such respect for Sir Alex that he wants him in that photo.

As usual you get the wrong end of the stick.

No but Liverpool are one time PL winners and that too recently. Recent winners don't get awards for losing out on top spot. Madness really.

And cups don't matter. This is the PL award.

It depends on the context. Personally I think Eddie Howe taking what looked like a cert relegated side to being comfortable mid table team was a great feat.

Also the Brentford manager worth a shout as well.

Not to mention Conte taking that spurs side over and turning their season from disaster to being 4th can't be over looked.

Liverpool finishing 2nd isn't anything special. They where 2nd favourites for the title and finished 2nd.

If all trophies are included then this should have been done once the season is over. Having the CL in your cabinet or not is a major difference

Ok, so he doesn't have the resources of City but he has a lot of resources and (now) a very deep squad. He finished second. That's the long and short of it. The only manager who should be getting that award for finishing second is a manager that wasn't expected to finish that high.

Why is everyone looking at Klopp's perspective? I thought Ferguson was your legend? Keep your eyes on him and off our man. I was.
Your man can't keep his hands off ours though.

Okay you're making this creepy now.

I mean this just isn't true.

I would've given it to Frank personally.

Objectively Eddie Howe 100% deserved manager of the season but Klopp was always going to be the populist choice.

Why did the manager who took his team to all three possible finals and who’s team amassed 92 points in the league, losing just three games all season win the manager of the year award, gee I dunno….
Also Liverpool weren’t the majorities pick for runners up.
