This is why im personally okay without Bellingham.
The only difference I'd say is that Bellingham is a CM and not a wide/attacking player and he did have a season at Birmingham albeit not in the PL. He seems like a fighter and a player with lots of intensity and character. Sancho has seemed off and very disconnected from many games.

Keep him away from the likes of rashford. Lingard and pogba are already leaving so thats a plus.

Can't believe we got fleeced once again and by Dortmund. I believe in him, he can become a very good player but that transfer fee.. Ouch
I doubt he will become a very good player. He has no standout physical attributes which isn’t something you can get away with as a wide player in this league.

Obviously the sample size is very small but Kulusevki at Spurs shows you can play well without being particularly strong or fast.
Kulusevski is strong as a bull, and he might not be pacy but he has a bit of burst to work a yard of space for a shot which Sancho doesn’t.

Bernardo Silva is hardly a physical player, so was David Silva. You need a system where players help each other and balance on the ball.

I didnt rate Sancho as high as the hype was getting in the Bundesliga.

Yet the one major thing this season was how all wide attackers turned to shit - when arguably every other season they were our main attackers in the first place.

There is plenty of reasons why our wider players turned to shit - but luckily for Sancho; you cant isolate him as the odd one out.

Fair enough I guess, although they were unbelievable technicians to compensate for it. I don’t see that with Sancho but hopefully I’m wrong.

A bit concercing reading about his trips after ruling himself out matches. Still remember seeing Pogba at the Manchester airport smiling with his buddies just an hour after we effectively lost the title after 4-4 against Everton at home.

According to Ralf Rangnick, Sancho missed the game yesterday after leaving training due to complaining of feeling ill.

Was on a flight to NYC during our game yesterday...so at worst he's pulled a sickie to go on holiday a day early.

At best, he's ill enough not to play or train but not ill enough to stop him travelling 5000 miles and he can't be arsed to watch our final league game.

Again, not the crime of the century but not exactly the attitude we're looking for is it after an underwhelming season
Where have you seen he was on a flight to NYC? Had a search on twitter and couldn't find anything. If true, I'd have to agree with the sentiment though, not necessarily about being there but I'm sure the players would have an opportunity to meet ETH either yesterday or today.

That title race was as fake as it could get. There was no race that early into the season

Was Rashford ill as well?

Amazing how much illness there’s been in the squad this given its a bunch of young, extremely healthy guys.

At the beginning of the season I questioned Sancho taking his sweet time to join up with us and wondered about his fitness.

He never looks fit to me. Even before this latest illness I noticed him training with both thighs strapped.

If we want to get the best out of him ETH needs to have him running up mountains in pre season.

My fiance was on his flight out of Manchester airport to NYC. She sent me a picture - it's 100% him

That might be the most ridiculous criticism of Pogba I’ve ever read.

I got my seasons confused :houllier: Pogba was an irrelevant player back then so I don't get the criticism
It wasn't massive criticism, it was just a throwback for me to witness a player seemingly not bothered at all about the club. I probably made too much of it, but the mood around OT and in Manchester was that we had lost the title that day, so probably expected the players involved with the club to atleast pretend that they cared, atleast in the sudden aftermath of that match. He wasn't a star player by any means, but he made a few cameos prior IIRC and we still had hopes that he would sign a contract and feature more for the first team.

Which, if the reports are true, could be said about Jadon's actions aswell. I'm hoping that it's not the case of course because I still believe he will come good.

Ok, fair enough. I just made the comparison because it didn't feel right back then, but then again I probably made too much of it and can't expect any of the players involved with the first team to care as much as we supporters do. In hindsight I don't blame him though, because he probably already knew by then that he was leaving the club anyway.

This kid must be thinking what the hell did I walk into. 21 year old walking into a changing room with this lot. Got to feel for him. Hopefully his next season will be more enjoyable and professional.

Looks like we've found our dressing room leak, it's...
@Lentwood girlfriend
:D

Funnily enough....she has a really close mutual friend with a current prominent United player and they regularly chat on social media/facetime/phone...I get a lot of general nonsense, gossip and rubbish but nothing mega interesting or unusual for a football team.

The Athletic reported that he had an ear infection at the start of the season which apparently was quite bad and was initially training with cotton bud in one of his ears. His recent illness was tonsillitis so he may just be a bit of a one off as they are quite specific problems rather than him just not feeling well.

It wasn't reported at the time but you can see it in his ear in the video below.

To update my Dortmund without Sancho point now season has finished:

Dortmund scored 85 goals this season in the Bundesliga. Their xG was 65.65 (according to Understat). They finished in 2nd place with 69 points.

Last season with Sancho, 75 goals, xG 68.95. Finished 3rd with 64 points.

Previous season (with Sancho) 84 goals, xG 64.26. Finished 2nd with 69 points.

2018/19 (with Sancho) 81 goals, xG 64.99. Finished 2nd with 76 points.
what does this mean?

Wow.

I've personally found Sancho to be overrated at Dortmund with his Dortmund CL, England and United performances more the level I expect off him. Sancho's best ability at Dortmund for example was to get past a defence that was on the other side of the pitch and literally cut back and pass to the centre forward without shooting.

Sancho's passing barely gets past the defender in the PL. The timing has been poor. Passes that hit the opposition and go out for a throw.

Anyway, I hope for the best with him.
agreed. Whenever I did manage to see him play I saw the current version. In Dortmund highlights the defences looked a shambles.

If he doesn't make a pass its his teammates fault.

Anyways, he gets a chance at a new coach so he gets a pass this season.

It's an interesting comparison, but ultimately you can't really draw many conclusions from that, especially regarding Sancho himself.

Different coaches with different approaches across some of those seasons, different players performing at different levels across those seasons, and some other factors. There are too many variables to relate those stats and results to Sancho and his departure individually.

Why?

Thought he was ill for the last month?
He was back in training and in contention for the Palace game and Rangnick said he had an issue in training the day before (no indication what it was), hence he was a doubt and missed the Palace. Have to remember there was a 2 week gap between our final 2 league games too.

I don't think it was reported that he was near death. He wasn't capable of playing football, but that doesn't exclude him from smiling in Jamaica. Do folks want him locked up in Manchester?

Agree but it's crazy to see the difference in reaction between this and the Rashford engagement photo, honestly you would have thought he posted a pic of him doing the "take the L" on a burning orphanage with some of the responses he got in his thread.

Confused, don't we want our players to get in an early break, get refreshed then get back in just a month to start 'the hardest pre-season of their lives'?

Also the mountains in Jamaica are absolutely beautiful, nice to see them getting some love.

350 k is insane.

Surely he didn’t need that much at the age of 20. :(
