Stephen Howson would have sucked off Joel Glazer to sign Saul last summer. Wouldn't stop banging on about him.
Foreign league syndrome. Everyone is convinced players they’ve never actually watched are top class. We’re seeing it with Kamara on the Caf now.

Tolisso is an interesting one. Not really familiar with him but a few mates of mine mentioned that he might be a decent bargain on a free.

Whenever I see Danjuma mentioned it reminds me of my mate going to watch a Bournemouth game not long after he signed there.

"They had this new lad up front, Danjuma."
'Was he any good?'
"Fecking shite."

Surely the glazers must realise that spending a bit extra of our money (120mill isnt much when considering most half decent players are 30-50 million) to give the manager a better squad and a better chance of making a fist of it makes more sense, wheras being outspent by not just our rivals but also much smaller clubs and then seeing the same names again with a few poor results and OT will become utterly toxic.

Can't wait to see who will spend £120m+ net this window, especially from those "much smaller clubs". My guess is none of them.

I’m trying not to be too critical of our decision making post Woody, but…

- we have a player the new manager wants
- plays as a CB/RB (two problem areas)
- player wants to move
- Ajax aren’t stalling the deal
- Relatively small outlay £20-30m…

Why is this taking so long? I’ve read we’re at the early stages / interested parties for over a month now. Feels like the same old protracted shit we had under Woody.

Agreed, but i think it's been like 2-3 weeks since Ajax won their league, right? You can imagine it's been quite chaotic with all the planning in the background. The backroom staff, pre-season tour details, out of contract players, the RR consulting agreement, facilities...etc.

I'd rate the first rumors were probably all just that - linking ETH with any/all of his ex players. And maybe the actual transfer wish list has only been finalised the last couple of days/the past weekend before ETH flies out to take a break. I'd give it until before ETH starts and if we've still not signed anyone...

"Am I optimistic about the signing with Barça? That's a big question. I don't like being in this situation. What is certain at the moment is that my era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility of continuing my career in this. club. Let's see what we can do in the next two weeks, I don't want to continue talking about it and I'd like to focus on Poland. After the Nations League we will have time to talk about the situation, but I don't see any possibility of continuing at Bayern

It's been exactly one week since EtH was officially announced, ffs! He, his new staff, and club just started the process in earnest a week ago. Ajax also went on a post-season trip last week, so they're away. And the transfer window doesn't open until June 10th with majority of player reporting until late June/first week of July.

As a dedicated collective amongst Murtough, top scouts, and EtH, squad reinforcements have been identified and communicated within the past 2 weeks at very most.

FCB Board of Directors: The million-dollar sale of a player (Frenkie De Jong) is one of the 3 quick exits that they contemplate and that they will analyze again tomorrow in order to sign Lewandovski and clean up the Club's economy

Big day tomorrow

I don’t get it. Barca are in such financial trouble when it comes to their wage bill and yet they want to sign Lewa, Christensen, [Irrelevant point], and Azpi who are all surely on huge wages since they’re coming from big clubs.

All this talk about how they may need to sell De Jong because he earns so much…..but surely one of the most elite strikers in world football like Lewa is seeking to get paid gigantic wages?

They have other players on De Jong's position I guess, they lack a quality striker.

I mean, they have Auba who scored a bunch for them. And wasn’t he on absurd wages at Arsenal? Doubt he’s earning peanuts now.

Dortmund really don't mess around. Clearly have the right staff in place to make decisions and secure signings early doors. I was kind of hoping we might try to do something similar.

He’s an absolutely terrific passer of the ball. Even showed his capability at threading balls from the No10 position at Atalanta terrific player I’d be gutted to see him go to Ajax though!
I was thinking to tag you in this post, i remember you from the Matic thread

After reading Freek Jansen's VI article today (thanks @VanDeBank), it seems that both Ajax and Timber's camp have held off all work pertaining to the player's future until recently. Ajax wanted to extend Timber's contract during the season but decided to focus on ending the season successfully rather than holding talks with Timber's camp. Many other clubs were interested in Timber throughout the season, but neither Ajax nor Timber's camp entertained the interest. Recently, however, Ajax have commenced their contract extension talks with Timber's camp, and the player's camp also visited Manchester United's London office. We'll start to see some further developments on this in the next few weeks.

I don't think any of us knows the player's inclinations at this time, but if he decides to renew his contract with Ajax, then we'll have to look at other option this summer.
