Yes we have identified the right kind of players already. Many of them have been good and would have been exceptional under the right footballing structure. Get a good manager first then the players will look twice as good to a man. We haven’t had a good manager in a decade.
I would say that we have recruited badly (yes that is solely my opinion of course) because we do not have a DOF and a style Of play which we can recruit to. Maybe options such as this are the way that we need to go, hungry players and not just he greedy mercenaries that Ed seemed to think fitted our profile.

Ajax want to pick him up for a pretty small fee (for today's standards). Spurs totally neglect him, meanwhile he consistently performs well in the national team. Ten Hag was already eyeing him last season, but the deal didn't go through. I've seen people talk about Antony but I think he could be a steal. 20-25m for a RW that still has good potential.

He doesn’t play as a RW though does he? I’ve always seen that he plays from the left.

He has played both but is a terrible fit for RW because is completely one footed (95% right foot usage per FBRef). He is very predictable and can’t come inside on his left foot and do anything.

It’s kind of a mystery why Spurs bought him when they already had Son at LW.

There's little to no chance that Levy allows us to buy for for a fair price. Anthony would probably end up cheaper if we buy from Ajax.

Son comes to Spurs and consistently performs, Kusulevski joina and gets straight into the team. Yet Bergwijn can never get a decent run. I think he's just not good enough. As an Ajax fan I don't want him. Not for the fee reported anyway. Please 'steal' him and don't even think about Antony.

Spurs want to avoid taking a loss on a player they bought pre-pandemic and who has shown virtually nothing with them for 2.5 years. If Levy can get 30m euro, all respect to him but it seems very very unlikely.

Ajax have paid over 20m euro for a player only once and it was Haller for just over 20m.

Everybody says they want to avoid taking a loss. All the other PL clubs end up taking a loss on all the Eredivisie flops eventually.

West Ham paid 50m for Haller. Brighton bought Jahanbakhsh for 19m and sold him for 1m plus some add ons. That same Brighton bought Locadia for a similar fee and let him go for free. We made a small loss of 1,5m on Blind. Then there's Klaassen, Clasie, etc.

Selling Bergwijn for a profit will never happen. Ajax don't spend that kind of money and no other (richer) club will pay 25 million for a PL flop.

He's a good player but is in an area that the club have varied options. Agree with the poster above Anthony would be the more ideal choice though more expensive.

Yup, that's pretty much what I think too.

If I had to guess Ajax might buy him if they can get him around 15-18m euro. They also may be just looking at him in case Antony leaves this summer as its not clear he would even start for them right now with Antony and Tadic on the wings. Spurs are probably trying to use Ajax's interest to see if they can generate bids from richer clubs. But he really just hasn't done enough during his time in the PL to be very enticing to other sides.

Some Dutch reports in January said Ajax went as high as 20 million euros, but that was their limit. Tottenham are trying to eek out those last 1-5 million euros. After a season with so little game time and Bergwijn starting for the Dutch NT, he'll move a 100% and even LVG referenced the rumours when asked about his starting spot in relation to his game time.

He is a talented player but never really found his feet with Spurs - he clearly has something though and could go on to be a really good player. Hope he does well at Ajax.
