Isn’t that what everyone is saying?
not really - I didn't read 18 pages, but in the last one there's someone saying they expect him to resign. My post wasn't strictly about redcafe only either. The guy on twitter is saying he's getting threats. I mean, even this thread being 18 pages is a bit much, but alas

Fair enough. You are right in any case. Well done Arnold for speaking well, shame the idiots recorded him.

I must say, I think he comes across well- as someone who gives a shit, who will take the time to reason with people, and someone who is prepared to be honest. These characeristics are not so common at the moment. I believe all of this is quite encouraging for the future, something I never felt with Woodward.
My take is the only way Woodward ended there was as an investment banker that orchestrated a leveraged buyout. Nothing to do with football. No other club would ever take him as his only attributes are rather useless.

Conversely, Richard Arnold fronted and executed a sensational commercial strategy which has bankrolled the club throughout and you can feel his pain at how we wasted all that money and, undoubtedly has had his work cut out keeping us up there in the revenue rankings despite our performances.

One thing my mates have told me before and absolutely makes sense is: "Real, Barcelona, Chelsea, City... they all wanted -some even still need- to replicate what we were doing. We have been targeted by headhunters, you think Arnold didn't? You think the Sheikh's can't offer him insanse terms? You think Roman didn't try buy him like he bought Kenyon? And yet, he is still there".

We should all be assuming we are dealing with someone who 100% has the club's best interests at heart. It's better than we've had for almost a decade.

Never thought of it that way, Woodward pissed away a lot of Arnolds work helping bring in the revenue

All over the place
"Murtough is working from 6 in the morning til 10 at night trying to get the De Jong deal done. There's £200m for transfers."

In this pic on the left some of them have phones in their hands. Surely he knew there was a big possibility he will get recorded and that what he said will come out.

In any case, he comes looking good here and like he cares. You could argue that it's s bit unprofessional he went fully open about some things, but he didn't reveal anything big or confidential. Barcelona knows we have the money, it is irrelevant if we have 120/150/200. They would still set the same price and we would go through the same process of lowering the fee.

I should add, that it was out of order filming him without his consent, but Richard Arnold spoke plainly and honestly about the dire situation United find themselves in. That was really good. Good to hear that the money we need for transfers is there, but now we need to back up those words with action.

Clearly protesting at a guy’s private residence is within their core values.
what a car crash of a statement

someone who isn’t a member with us did something bad, but that isn’t aligned with our core values

also one of us was racist, but that isn’t aligned with our core values

um… did we mention our core values yet?…

Bought to their attention? I wonder if it was a leverage buyout.

Can't believe the guys that got to sit down with Arnold were such thick twats. Every poster on here would have given him a more coherent conversation. Think if he had somebody a bit more intellectual sitting opposite him then he might have given even more. Could tell he was just dumbing it all down a bit and could tell they were just weakly trying to trip him up instead of getting him to elaborate. These guys missed a big chance to get themselves really good insight instead of just snippets, but Arnold came off very well for entertaining them.

He did well just keeping a straight face and not patronising them, they were all struggling to string 3 coherent words together

Course he knew....and it would make him look like a right village idiot if he said he didn't realise that he could be secretly filmed.
So now has come out and said he knew it was possible, therefore his answers are not going to be as refreshingly honest and frank as some would like to think they are.
Who's to even say he wasn't advised by Club PR team to "make such a bold move" and meet the protesters at the pub and prepped to say certain things ...just enough to pacify the mob without throwing his employers and colleagues under the bus.
And how did he find out about the protesters....ffs is there a mole in the gang? (probably the same guy who's recording) the club is infested with them More leaks than the Old Trafford roof.

Quick call to The Glazer boys on the way to the pub... "Listen Joel, Avram you're gonna see a video of me fraternizing with the enemy, with me calling you leeching cnuts, don't worry its all for the cameras, although I'll put most of the blame on Woody & all the other clueless wankers that have left, yeah, feck 'em ,I'll use them as speed bumps in the bus lane instead.
Oh n how much we got to spend roughly? 100-200 mill.? Right..leave it with me boys, I'll sort these troublesome peasants out"

"Pints... phone camera... aaand Faction!"

P.S. Shit there's redneck hillbillies involved as well:eek:

Hurry up and get the show started Erik...everyone's going stir crazy here. Silly season indeed.

Keep the faith!

The only way to force real change is to harm the club unfortunately.

And no they aren't as bad as each other. No Utd fan has done anywhere near the damage that the Glazers have done to this club. Don't be so ridiculous
Maybe not, but if they continue with their stated aim(s), then they will be just as bad, if not worse.

If you cannot see that, then you are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Manchester United clearly approved the conversation can go ahead, but it was obvious that anyone there was told no recordings would be acceptable & that the trust given by the club, was clearly broken.

If these people were not part of 1958? why were they there in the first place and planning to protest outside the guys house?

People don't just randomly show up and get invited to have a drink with the CEO if the people organising don't know who they are.

Clearly 1958, pretending they are not responsible, but they 100% are.

What's worrying is, 1958 deciding that it's acceptable to turn up to someone's private residence and any kind of trouble could happen, not to mention the fear and worry for the family living there.

If you are going to protest, stand outside Old Trafford and protest.

How long before some idiot takes matters further and physically attacks someone or worse... These mental cases exist, wanting their moment of glory, which had nothing to do with the good of the club.

He went to meet people who wanted to hold scribbled blankets outside his house. He knew it wasn't an intellectual encounter with the greatest keyboard warriors on Redcafe.

Imagine Arnold trying to come up against me. He would be bamboozled right from the start when I order a Malibu and coke instead of a pint

Under soil heating.
The first protest they arranged was brilliant in fairness. They’re going to push it more and more extreme and lose most of the support they had. It’s the age old story of Icarus…or Anakin Skywalker.
Yeah fair play, they’re certainly doing a lot more than I am about the state of the club so I can applaud them for the passion. I just think they are finding out that running an organisation isn’t plain sailing.

Shame on them for caring about something and being emotionally invested in a football club. The knob heads should spend their time sat on the sofa binge watching rubbish on Netflix instead
That would certainly be better than rocking up to someone's home to protest.

There are ways to care about the club, that is not one of them.

Exactly, they were probably confused and wondering how they were gonna set off their flares inside the pub.

I think he'd have been more interested in talking with the latter though. For many reasons he probably knew to keep it on a level with these guys. Their questions and responses were just crap. It's such a big opportunity as a supporter to get your point across and they fumbled the bag with how they approached it. And yet they think they can represent the fans with their protests. Laughable.

Truly amazing opinions on this thread.

I don't agree with them necessarily releasing the hidden footage but if the club respected and communicated with its fans in a mature fashion - and by that I mean not just the fans licking their backside and journos who eat out of the club's hand - then maybe, just maybe this 'secret' filming would not have happened or be necessary.

The way some of you are going about this, you'd think he had been the best-run club in the world before this past season.
Come on, own up, which one of them are you?

He said the opposite in fact, most everyone thought we had 120M budget, but he was honest enough to say ball park 200m.

Now thanks to this utter plankton releasing the footage we are at a disadvantage.

Right! Arnold comes in, takes off his coat - body odour - takes off his hat, sits down to drink his pint. Sees the tweet. Sees me. Shock! Rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue. Remorse, remorse, guilt, guilt, guilt, whirlwind of self-loathing... and Arnold buys me a drink. Fiendish!
Classic Bottom. Well played.
