It's too hard to predict right now, especially after last season. People saying a lifetime or 20 years, bit over the top. Realistically though not likely in the next 5. Cycles happen, it's about how well the manager can get a tune out of players, implement a style, recruitment and the cycle of other teams. Even Leicester fluked a league with the right timing. This 90 point plus for position one and two will end, the teams below will get better. Klopp and Pep won't be hear forever.

It's just United's time for a drought unfortunately, we were spoiled but will eventually get back. Not take a league for granted again, as fans I think it's healthy, can't just have the good times, need to appreciate it after dark times. Let's see where Ten Haag takes us.
I agree that winning the title after a long drought makes it all the sweeter.

However i am not sure why is there so much faith in “football cycles”. It is possible that a club just stays in perpetual mediocrity. I am thinking of the past great clubs in Europe like Nottingham Forest and the Partizan Belgrade.

Ten Hag alone cannot do anything without proper transfers. Considering we still havent signed anybody despite clearly needing a rebuild and teams not needing a rebuild are ahead of us, all indications are that we still suck at recruitement and transfers. Which m, if true, means we can forget about winning EPL for a very long time unless Glazer fecks sell the club to somebody more competent

People over here who are depressed and are predicting 20 years, probably would never have foreseen Leicester's victory. I won't be surprised if you guys say it is a anomaly, but if you analyzed it closely you will notice that they were truly the best team in terms of attitude, tactical approach and a well balanced team in terms of skillset.

The interesting point to note is that the current Leicester team is stronger than the one that won the EPL title. That season, the traditional big six (except Arsenal and Tottenham) were either going through fitness issues or managerial transitions. But still Arsenal and Tottenham were certainly stronger than that Leicester team and should have been able to win the title. This just tells you that it is possible to have a weaker team in terms of skillset to win the title, as long as the mentality and tactics are there. It is similar to how Ancelotti won against Liverpool despite Liverpool having the superior team. The manager needs to know which tactics can bring out the best of your players and keep them motivated.

In other words, we can do it next season if the manager implements the right tactics and keeps the team motivated.

We will have clearer picture next season after 3 to 4 months how ETH is doing.
A good coach should be able to get the team playing his style/good football within this period of time albeit inconsistent.
If we can play modern high intensity football then we have every chance to challenge for the title after 1 or 2 season with ETH.

For longer term, Murtough need to ensure continuity and put in place a proper succession plan of manager to play a certain style of play.

Until this current group of players, or at least the vast majority are cleared out, I don't see any possibility of a title winning campaign.

It is such a bad group, I'd make the case this is a harder job, than the team Fergie inherited in 1986. As we know it took him a few years to get the culture right and required a big reset. It's quite similar to the job ETH is being tasked with now.

Back then it was a lot easier to transform a squad around. Today the league is far more competitive and with many clubs in a much stronger financial position, it's not easy to just go out and buy players to fit and get rid of those you don't. Negotiating with agents, higher wages and transfer fees, if you make a few bad calls, it can set you back 3 or 4 years to get rid of those players and replace them.

That's where we are now with so many bad transfers over the past few seasons, it's almost a complete clear out required. So I think we could possibly see a few steps backwards before progress is made, we may fall further down the table before we get the right players in. Just how patient are the board and fans going to be in this age? If Utd finished 11th as they did under Ferguson, I highly doubt ETH will be afforded the luxury of time to turn it around. Yet it might be necessary to accept a further fall down the table, whilst he transforms the squad in his image.

So I'm not going to put a timescale on when it will be, it's really impossible to know. That's why it's fascinating to see how he and the club approach this. There is no guarantee of anything in football, it took Utd 26 years to land a league title after the last, it took Liverpool 30. That's a sobering reminder to everyone. We're already a decade gone and that time has flown by.

With Newcastle coming in to the mix, Spurs under Conte and Liverpool with Klopp and City with unlimited funds it could be decades before we win again..Sad but true..

Man Utd decides to sign any player it has to appoint proper sporting director - his job to use that manager's request for a particular type of player is meet keep in view the overall objective of Man Utd and budget
Man Utd is the best place in their progression curve that it needs a good bunch of players who are highly motivated and need be proven talent to help it succeed to reach top 4 places next season and challenge title in 2 to 3 years - this squad would form the base for next 5-7 years

Man Utd spend like crazy on short-term targets and never was allowed to sign a player for the future and this is time for it to sign a player for the next 5 to 6 years and do not panic buy the high price players

You cannot use Leicester as an example because yes, they were a 5000/1 anomaly. We probably won’t see anything similar happen in our entire lives.

I'd be very surprised if we won the league in the next decade, Liverpool are so well set up with probably the best manager in the world while City are set up just as well and have huge resources and Newcastle are going to emerge soon so even if we get everything right, which we almost certainly won't, it's going to be incredibly difficult to get back there.

Liverpool didn't win the league for 30 years, Arsenal (who have the 3rd most ever) are at 18 years and are nowhere near so us going 20-30 years without a league title isn't ridiculous, it's happened to United before.

Won't be in the running whilst Pep and Klopp are around. Given how dominant the EPL is right now, it's hard to see them leaving anytime soon either. I think we're easily looking at another 10 year stretch.

Pretty unlikely as long as Guardiola and Klopp are in situ.

Once they leave, things might open up a bit, but there will still be Chelsea and probably Newcastle (plus City and Liverpool under new management) to contend with.

I suppose we have a chance of maybe nicking a title somewhere in the next 5 or 6 years, but the stars would really need to align. Even getting back in to the top 4 looks like it will be a major challenge next season.

Do find it strange how people think we won’t win the league with Pep and Klopp around because they’ve raised the bar so high in terms of points. But then the entire forum will tell you the reason they get so many points is because the Premier League is weak. Something isn’t adding up.

Whilst the Glazers are at the helm we won’t be winning any titles, don’t kid yourselves. ‘Rinse and Repeat’ in two - three years time. Absolute Parasites of a family.
