At this stage, I’d get excited at a departure let alone a signing. It’s early days but this window is just so stale.
Don't agree with this. The midfield is the biggest issue by a country mile. We also need a RW as we really cannot be relying on Elanga (before anyone says 'Play Sancho at RW', he prefers the Left and that is probably his best position). If we don't sort out our defence first it's useless going after Antony. FDJ etc
The defense is weak in the first place because
1. Lack a midfield (Mctominay belongs in the championship, Fred is mediocre, and Bruno's basically a striker these days).
2. Lack a thoroughbred RW.
3. Lack a quality RB.
I promise you if we improve the midfield with 3 quality signings, get a RW, and a quality RB then the defense will massively improve. Though I agree I'd like better options than Maguire, Lindelof, and Varane. At the very least I don't think it's a priority. It's all about balance and we at the very moment lack that.
Kindly remember that last season our defence let in lotsa lotsa goals!Don't agree with this. The midfield is the biggest issue by a country mile. Really don’t understand why United only do one deal at a time. Been that way for years nowThis De Jong hold up on seemingly all other signings/activities is becoming a joke, and we are getting left behind. Shock horror.
Because we have appointed incompetent people at every level. Starting from the owners right down to the players. Won't say the same for the manager though.Really don’t understand why United only do one deal at a time. Been that way for years now
If the De Jong deal falls through now, as deals between United and Barca always do, I feel like United are going to be bent over when they’re looking for other players as they’ll know how badly United need players
We're at the admiration stageAre we considering preparing a bid yet or are we still monitoring the situation?
Because there was no protection from the midfield. McFred just let teams slice through them every game.Kindly remember that last season our defence let in lotsa lotsa goals!
A good/great team is always built from the defence.
Like him in the fact that he has 2 legs and is a footballer you mean?FDJ, not the DM that we have all be craving for, is he? More like Paul Pogba MKII, ain't he?
It’s not just about balance, it’s about having 4 CBs who are fit and available. None of those 3 could say that they met that last season. Lindelof is carrying his back injury and Varane is made of glassThe defense is weak in the first place because

You’ve changed your tune!Give the likes of Murtough and co the time needed to explore and monitor. We're such an impatient bunch of supporters.
No he's not retiring he just left Watford to become a free agent and even mentioned he still feels good to join up with another team. Whether he would return to United or even be good enough for EtH to want him back at the club is another discussion. Is Ben Foster retiring? Maybe we could convince him to hang around for a season.
The season before 20/21 we had the 4th lowest goals against in the league, that is prior to the addition of Varane and the return of Dalot, not everything is black and white, many things went wrong last season the defence was both symptom and cause I feelKindly remember that last season our defence let in lotsa lotsa goals!

Maybe because we only have one fax machine in our office all these years.Really don’t understand why United only do one deal at a time. Been that way for years now

We're going to get bent over regardless of if and when De Jong goes through. Sounds like ETH is very keen to bring in some players he trusts from Ajax, but they're going to be demanding the earth for the likes of Antony and Timber. They don't need to sell because they've already raised funds this window.Really don’t understand why United only do one deal at a time. Been that way for years now

Defense is more than just a back lineKindly remember that last season our defence let in lotsa lotsa goals!

Don't forget our Portugese mind, Dalotcrates. As we speak there is a deep philosophical debate in the transfer war room of “what is a bid? and “what does it mean to bid?”. Some very deep topics and exploration on purpose of “bid” that none of you can understand because you aren’t on the level of Murtough aka Muristotle.
2 midfield signings along with a RW and RB would be perfect for me, yes I get the concerns about no cover for Ronny and LCB tooThe defense is weak in the first place because

Would be excited if it involved actually getting money rather than just loaningAt this stage, I’d get excited at a departure let alone a signing. It’s early days but this window is just so stale.
In case of Henderson it even means losing money and a better player if we get fecking Bachmann instead.Would be excited if it involved actually getting money rather than just loaning
I can think of other things Amber Heard has done that remind me of Manchester United right now...We've "bid" on a bunch of players just like Amber Heard "donated" her divorce settlement. It's all in the eye of the beholder. I guess we're pledging to bid on players now!
