Think that'll change if we can get on the likes of FDJ and Antony in
Sainz said that Ronaldo doesn't rate FDJ as a game changing signing. Mind you he's very close to the Ronaldo and Mendes camp. Pretty much one of the mouthpieces.

Ronaldo said he was staying at Juve last summer as well a few days before the window closed. I just dont see any takers for his wages and age

Pretty relaxed about what he does to be honest. On balance I'd slightly prefer him to stay because his goals will be useful in what looks to be a difficult season, but equally, he could slow down our overall rebuild, given his style of play (and perhaps his wages). So there's pros and cons either way.

Don't think he necessarily slows down our progress in the coming season. ETH will have to implement his ideas in phases, we can still play quick counter attacking football (which will suit Ronaldo) while he works with the defense and the players get used to possession based football. Multiple reasons for it, firstly, when you have the greatest goal scorer of all time in your squad, you play to his strengths, even if partially. Secondly, Ronaldo should be phased out the season after when the manager implements a possession based football. And finally, we've got too many areas to address in terms of squad rebuilding, we just cannot do all that in one window. ETH will have to find a stop gap solution in Ronaldo.

The more I think about the task he has at his hand, the more daunting it seems.

His commercial impact alone will be worth it for most clubs.
Tangent, but can that be true? Pre-covid, our commercial revenue was c. $350m, dropped down to $320m last year but can put that on Covid I guess. So if we're paying Ronnie c. $20m on wages, can he incrementally increase our commerical revenue to, say, $375m?

I'm not really convinced.

I think the fans suspecting Ronaldo fitting into Ten Hag's formations should seriously take a look at his Ajax squad. He played Haller as a CF supported by 2 wingers who cut in. Ronaldo is a much more potent CF than Haller so he will certainly fit into Ten Hag's formations. On the days where Ronaldo is rested, he can look at 3 forwards in a 4-3-3 shape or 2 forwards in a 4-4-2 diamond, 4-3-1-2 etc.

Don't know. At the end of day it didn't really work out for us or Juve, although he obviously had more success with than with us, but he'll be turning 38 in half a year and despite his longevity his age is showing. I can't imagine many genuine major trophy contenders destroying their wage structure to get the ancient version of Ronaldo. If so it would be Bayern but they have a strict wage structure.

All the latest reports in the last 24 hours, pointing at how frustrated Ronaldo is at the club failing to make any signings despite reassurances at the end of last season, they would bring in quality players quickly.

Also, he is said to have seen how Liverpool and City have strengthened already and feels he may need to move on from United.

Gonna be a up and down summer period for sure.

Tbh if he thought we were going to challenge for the title next season after having our worst ever PL season he's a bit deluded. I think he's looking for a way out and I can't blame him. It just about whether he can find a better fit than us.

Sounds like his agent offered him to Juventus.

I'd be amazed if he went back there.

You’ll only begin to see it when our major deals are renegotiated. If you look at our Instagram following, it’s shot up, give it 2/3 years and then we’ll be at crazy levels. Then negotiating our deals will have an uplift. A sizeable one. Our deal with Tezos which took out the naming rights for the training ground and headline tour sponsorship that AON had, still lead to an uplift of 33%, that was only months into ronaldo’s time here. Give it 3 years and see.

Juventus’ president went on record and said he would re-sign Ronaldo all over again just for the impact he had on them commercially.

The man has more Instagram followers than Real, Barca, United, PSG, Juve, Milan, Inter, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham put together. To think he won’t have an insane impact off the pitch is naive. We have done feck all on the pitch the past year yet we were the most engaged team on social media. That’s ronaldo right there. Imagine if we became half successful with him in the team?

That translates to a heck of a lot more money and money which can be reinvested to keep the team going.

Give it 3 years? The fecker will be around 41 by then. I wouldn't take a 35 year old Messi atm whatever his social media following is.

His output is better than most strikers in their prime years. Age really is a number for Ronaldo. Let’s see him play in a functional team first under ETH and then decide.

Every damn time I see him line up for us, I feel like a kid again. Usually only massive occasions would have me as giddy. That’s what I watch football for tbh. From a selfish point of view I want him in the team for as long as possible.

I want him to stay at least this for this season. We will need a mature figure in the attack. We can't trust those kids all season. He is still going to be the team top scorer this season if he stays.

It’s how he left Juventus in the first place, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s how he leaves us too. Deep into the summer with no striker coverage would be an insane gut punch

If he were to go I think it would benefit us. I was over the moon with him coming back and I love him as a player, but I doubt he's great for the dressing room (even if he sets a high standard in terms of application) with those moodiness when he's subbed and what if his game time is being managed, will he be able to accept that? The stats last season showed that he performed best after a week of no matches, so playing every 3-4 days doesn't work for him - and we've got such a clogged up schedule.

Then there's the small matter of trying to become a high intensity attacking team, which won't work fully with him in the first XI.

If he can go to Bayern I think it would benefit everyone. But we'd quite obviously need to sign an out and out striker.

He’s being linked with Bayern and I can definitely see this happening.

Ronaldo has played in all the 3 major leagues and then can add Bayern/Germany to that list as well.

Lewandowski leaving may make Bayern try for a short term option.

Ronaldo at Bayern will get goals and then have a chance at a CL in comparison to Ronaldo at United.

At least he would win stuff.
Imo an exit would have been the best solution if we'd manage to buy a really good striker. But then our transfer market capabilities are rather poor so...

Maybe not a bad idea he left.

These fairytale returns to the "love of your life" never really work out.

Let that be a lesson for you kids, once she's gone it's over, don't try to win her back.

I don’t mind him going, but we’d absolutely have to sign a CF to replace him. I mean, we could do with one if he stays, but it’d be absolutely vital if he went.

Yeah it would be a perfect move for Ronaldo. Less games in the Bundesliga, a realistic shot at the CL and the guarantee to win another league title in major European league. He probably then is the only player who won the league in Italy, England, Spain and Germany.

While it makes perfect sense for Ronaldo, it doesn't make any sense for Bayern. Lewandowski is 3 years younger and scores more goals. He is fully integrated in the team while Nagelsmann probably has to change tactics for Ronaldo. All this for only a year. Next Bayern won't pay anything beyond 20 million Euro gross, also not for Ronaldo who soon turns 38.

The sources linking him with Bayern are from Spain, which is also very weird. How would they know more than English and German journalists?
