No one wants to say it because he has ability and costs a shite load of money every week, but it's more true than the thread saying the same about Pogba.

Rashford is a playground footballer. Turns up to show off in games where the opposition are poor enough to allow us the luxury of him doing so. As soon as the team need him however, you can forget it.

He is more interested in inventing silly handshake routines, showing off, and wanting people to look at his hair, than he ever will be in working hard to help his team win a game.

He has the selfishness of a Gerrard or a Ronaldo but without any of the desire, determination, or basic maturity to go with it, and he's 24 years old. It is unlikely at this point he will ever grow up, and that means he will never be more than a liability in any game where it is important for him to put in work for the benefit of the team.

The idea some people have of playing him further forward because he doesn't work hard enough to play in midfield is a nonsense...as if playing him in another position somehow makes it less important that he works hard. In a succesful team, every player works harder than Marcus Rashford ever does.

The fact is that he is on a pedestal as United's best player, but when you look at City (i.e. the team top of the league), if Marcus Rashford played for them in the same way he does for United, he would be told to either grow up or feck off. He wouldn't get close to getting a game for them unless he had a serious change of attitude. At United he seems to go completely unchecked for it because he can showboat around onceor twice every ten games, against the likes of Stoke.

This will be like the prophecy in the Scottish play, rashford will be subbed off at the 85th minute for a youngster and then we will win the league*

We will never win the league with average and washed up managers should be the thread title.

To be fair, this is probably true but could also be said of McTom, Maguire, Telles, and quite a few of our side, and the reason is simply that they, like Rashford, are not good enough for a top side.

We'll never win the league while both Pep and Klopp are managing in the PL.

I never had him down as this. His hair is bang average. Pogba I’d understand if you said that.

The fact is that he is on a pedestal as United's best player
Legit question: is he considered United’s best player?

I think there’s a player in there. But like all jobs, especially when you’re 24, certain managers and situations don’t help. Think of the impact certain managers have in your own life. Perhaps ETH is the man to focus on coaching and maximizing his talent.

Something that few made up to criticize player.

Only in 2019-20 first half of the season he was considered as our best player, that's because Pogba was injured and Rashford played at very high level with players like Lingard, James, Pereira in the line up. Martial had injury problems too.

Apart from that half season he was never considered as our best player.

Not a fan then?

Yes he’s been decent in the past but even when people were pretending he was in his way to becoming a future Ballon d’or winner he was quite obviously technically leaps and bound behind his peers and if you look at the top quality 23-26 year olds in the game today that gap has only grown.

What we often see though is refusal to accept this and anger directed at those who points it out. Then, now, tomorrow.

I don’t get it. Is this a parody or..? Weird timing if serious, as most across the board seem to be in agreement that Rashford isn't good enough.

I don't know if we will or not but the man has the gall to refuse to make an effort. That's what makes me angry. Not because he is good enough or not.

Not going to defend Rashford or the OP. But predictions or statements like this are just several levels of stupid. I can’t even be bothered to explain why. It seems like there’s a new stupid thread popping up in the United forum daily.

Like it's been pointed out, replace Rashford in the title with anyone and it wouldn't be wrong.

Nearly everything you wrote there could be used to describe Sancho too.

@VidaRed Im of the same belief myself. Nothing about him shows hustle in his game. Things seem to have to fall in place for him to perform.
It is unrealistic in football for everything to be perfectly placed always. People cry a lack of fight or effort. In comparison to Fred who is not considered one of our better players, when the going gets tough he’s is the only one we know won’t shrink. He will be having a poor game yet he’d keep hustling like the game is just started.
Have we ever asked, whether this is related to their football/life journeys. It always brings me back to when Mourinho said he is used to managing men. I don’t think most of our players fought/struggle hard enough to get to where they are so don’t recognise where the top is. Whilst Bruno not my favourite, you see a resilience that you’ll never see in Rashford, Martial, Shaw, McTominay, VDB, Sancho and Pogba.
We wonder why they fall apart when their egos are not stroke.

Wanting people to look at his hair? His hair is awful though? Got one of those too-low hairlines, or small forehead if you prefer. Like Stevie Me.

What's the point of such a thread now?
Rashy probably won't even be a regular next season, so what's he got to do with anything?

One bad season and threads like this pop up.

Fairweather fans.
A lot of us must have missed the swash buckling football and multiple trophies won in the past few seasons with world class players having a never say die attitude.

This is a way less controversial prediction that the other. I mean he wasn't even in the team at the end of the season. Most people (including the manager it seems) are looking for a forward to replace him this summer.

I don't think this is the hot take the OP seems to think it is.

called it once Pogba was leaving that Rashford would become the new public enemy number one. This weird obsession with singling out Rashford as ‘we’ll never win with. . . ‘ whilst the likes of Lindelof, Maguire, McTominay & co. still don the shirt is comical.

There’s a rather striking similarity with the Rashfords, Pogba’s, Martians, Lingards but that’s a discussion the Caf have proved not ready for on multiple occasions. If Elanga’s still hanging around once Rashfords finally had enough expect him to get the same treatment.

I'm pretty sure everyone here would agree that we will never win anything with McTominay and Maguire as starters.

What's the similarity with those players that redcafe posters aren't ready to discuss?

If managed correctly and utilised as an impact sub then he could be very useful over the course of a season. He just needs a manager to get his confidence up again, stop the pointless tricks and just utilise his pace. In front of goal he’s pretty deadly tbf.

Though no one feels the need to point out the obvious in those cases though or create multiple negative in the span of just over a month since the season ended, even criticising charitable actions.

We may well never win a league with Rashford as a starter but given the seasons we’ve witnessed from his contemporaries the sudden wave of Rashford posts seems a tad irrational to me but this is the Caf.

I think the implication is that it's a race thing?

I had also lost faith in Rashford last season but eventually realised that I actually lost faith in 90% of our squad. Singling out any of them is the wrong attitude to have imo because collectively they failed.

It's a team game honey.

Don't understand this obsession with scapegoating one player as the sole cause of our inability to win things. I bet anyone can make up over 100 different things to go after "we will never win the league with..." within the next 20 minutes off the top of their heads and all will be at least as plausible as "with Marcus Rashford in the team".

Well said.

I forget which game it was, near the end of the season at OT. Rashford came on quite late as a sub and chased absolutely everything for a few minutes. After every sprint you could see him looking around for some support. He got none at all so he stopped doing it. I'm not saying that Rashford put in enough effort consitantly last season. But when you have completely lost faith in your team, as they clearly all had, everything becomes so much more difficult.

Maybe Rashford will re-discover what made him a dangerous player, who knows. But I'd rather find out with him here than have yet another gap to fill.

Or we could just spend all our energy hounding him on social media and singing fcuk off to him at OT. That really helps the club.
