he fecked us once. He is trying to fecks us again. But all is forgiven because he is a great player?
He is a fecking mercenary. Excellent, one of the best in history but still a mercenary. So, if he wants to go.....good riddance to him.
Ronaldo had an agreement with Ferguson to let him go, Ferguson convinced him to stay an extra year. How exactly did he feck us when the relevant people knew he was going to/of his desire to leave? United received a record breaking fee for him, as well. Why is he a merc? It's not as if he left to go play in China.

Ronaldo is 37 and at the end if his career. We are a club in shambles that have to play Europa League, and we are showing zero effort in the transfer window. If I was in Ronaldo's shoes I'd leave

The only issue with him leaving would be whether the money we save on his wages offers us enough leeway to bring another attacker in addition to whatever signings we intend to make anyway.

If it does, fine. A replacement might be less of a goalscorer on paper but they're almost certain to offer more in terms of general play and lift the team more in that regard. And Ronaldo would almost certainly have left next summer, so it just brings forward a change that had to happen anyway. If we don't have that leeway, it's a big problem.

I would imagine he stays though.

It could make sense for Chelsea. They need to boost their commercial revenues if they want to compete - that will be a big part of the owners strategy.
We probably wouldn't let him go for the same reason.

Just let him go. Will most probably be going next year anyway. Probably best to just go our separate ways.

We will figure things out.

Calling himself a slave whilst playing for one of the biggest clubs and earning shit loads is unforgivable agreement or no agreement

For all the talk of us being willing to let him go if he wants to, I don’t get it. This weird deference bordering on worship for Ronaldo will never not stump me. He called himself a slave before leaving first time, used us in contract negotiations for the better part of a decade and then came back for one decent season on wages way out of kilter with his current abilities. What exactly is it that we apparently owe him? Why in the world would we strengthen Chelsea and weaken ourselves to appease the bloke who, with his eyes wide open, came back to a club riven with failure and who now seems utterly shocked that we didn’t manage to snap that particular sequence instantly?

Couldn’t care less either way. That’s quite weird but there you go.

If he does go, who out there can we get to play as a centre forward?

Will he use Bruno as False 9?

Erickson as advanced midfielder, De Jong and Fred behind.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Anyone who read the Whitwell article will conclude there’s no way we’d be reluctant to let him go - provided we can get a replacement. If we do let him go it’ll be in our interests too. The issue I have is if we’ve known about this all along - that he’s off - then why the feck didn’t we go all in for Nunez? I don’t see any alternatives out there now - the striker market is pretty sparse.

This is correct. SAF documented it in his book they agreed one more year and he could go if a certain fee was received. That is absolutely factual.

If we had a team that was 1 striker away from competing with City and Liverpool it might make sense. But with the sizable rebuild we require this makes no sense.

Said a while back I was worried about the lack of links to strikers seen as we need one anyway, and that’s if Ronaldo stays. So feck knows what happens if he were to leave aswell. Can’t see many goals in this team with him, without him then damn…

I suspect ETH isn’t keen on having Ronaldo at United next season and we’re trying to make it look like we still want him not to annoy the CR7 fanboys

That’s my main concern too

If only he made this clear a month or so ago. I’m sure we would’ve went all out for Nunez

Can’t believe people are saying let him go. And replace him with who exactly? We can’t even buy players now and you want to somehow sign a striker who scores 20 plus goals a season.

If he goes the squad is bottom half of the table.

I hope this happens. We never should have brought him back

If he joins Chelsea he will force them play him every game, so happy days
yes this would be a silly move from Chelsea or Bayern. His heroics in the CL aside he’s very far off league leading/winning quality these days. He’ll eventually hold Chelsea back despite the goals.

Ronaldo needs to stay! I hope Ten Hag build his team around Ronaldo. The guy is a phenomenon. Manchester United doesn't need a new striker if they have Ronaldo. The guy can make a goal from every angle. He is absolutely brilliant.

It'll genuinely be Rashford and Martial.

We've spent weeks trying to get De Jong over the line, with plenty of stories saying we won't advance on other targets before completing it because the budget is so tight.

I don't see us suddenly throwing down big money for an elite striker if Ronaldo goes...and like you said, even if the money was there it's a pretty barren/speculative market.

For him to score 20+ goals for them and help them finish above us?
Chelsea look likely to finish ahead of United again next season, would it matter if it's with Ronaldo scoring 20 goals for Chelsea or for United and leaving for free?

What I don't understand it's how no one is mentioning Ziyech in an Ronaldo swap, ten Hag has already made him play his best football, there's rumours Chelsea might send him to Milan with a loan + obligation to buy and United need a right winger.

Sancho, Bruno as false 9 and Ziyech as a front 3 could surely be one of the best summer market scenarios looking at all the options available.

Ronaldo would be a completely different beast playing for a team of Bayern’s calibre, make no mistake.
In truth, he hasn’t played for a truly elite side in 4 years and he’s more than held his own despite his advancing age.

What strikers are you even linked to though if Lukaku has gone and Werner being offered around? It’s such a bad market at the moment.
None, really. Loosely linked with Richarlison who I don’t rate at all and despise.

I want us to go with Havertz up front and just buy Sterling and Dembele. Fluid, interchangeable attack with no traditional striker like City and Liverpool have done for the past few years.

He scored 20+ goals for us and we finished below them.
He scored about 18 for us in the league and that was for an underperforming team. We’re trying to go up a level and strengthening our rivals won’t help that.
