Why is this different for the Stranger Things thread then?
It isn't. The posters in there are different to the ones in here and some of them have decided to use spoiler tags. They can be used but they're not required if the episode has aired, it's that simple.

Re. Stranger Things, I think I used the spoilers tags cause the episodes are released in bulk so not everyone will watch at the same pace.

Everyone coming out with excuses now as to why they didn't read the rules? :wenger:

I tend to use spoiler tags in general cause someone got pissy with me a few years ago in one of the Spider Man(?) threads.

Tell them to go feck themselves. The rules are clear. Although one of my posts got edited in a thread a few weeks ago to put it in spoiler tags so there's a mod apparently unaware of the rules too.

They seem to exist purely to show anger.
I’m not sure I even really understand what they are, they don’t seem very impressive compared to other members of The Seven.

Great episode, but I'm not really getting what MM is offering at the moment.

He seems to want to fight the Soldier Boy, in which he'd obviously get twatted. Then he starts to pull his gun on him. What is he trying to do? He's usually been the most level-headed character, but now he's being incredibly naïve.

I was never a big fan of Hughie's storylines, but now he seems to be mad with power, he's become more interesting. Still reckon he's going to fully heel-turn. Him and Starlight are gonna rumble.

I look at it like this is a problem that he has lived with since his family was killed. The original catalyst of him hating supes. But he thought the one that actually did it was long dead. Being confronted with the boogeyman now living and in his face he has just lost it. Maybe they could have written him having a more realistic plan to sell that better. So far he has had absolutely no plan at all and just basically willing to commit suicide.

I just spoiler stuff incase someone wasn't aware of the rules and I'd feel bad for em.

How very Christian of me, innit.

The Stranger Things thread is full of spoiler tags discussing stuff that happened a month ago.

Sure, they're both accurately portrayed but in the American right's case that's identical to mocking. With regards to the left it's portrayal is necessary for the contrast.

As someone that's lived in Europe for more than two decades now, I don't see even see in "a left" within the show. Just normal vs bat shit insane.
I don't even see much mocking of the left, just mocking of the corporations like Vaught/Disney faking how progressive they are, which I guess people consider making fun of the left? I dunno. This show leans way more into making fun of the right wing nuts than say a show like South Park.

I guess if you follow far right media long enough, you'd get the impression the left is about inclusivity rollercoasters and pride burgers. It's akin to living on another planet.

I've just watched Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez being interviewed on Stephen Colbert, and I can't get past the idea that she explodes people's heads.

I like the show for what it is and think it's entertaining, but there are a lot of weak elements to it for me. I really don't care about the MM character and whatever is going on with him. His story is just not compelling to me in the slightest. And the same goes for Frenchie, really. At the beginning of the show when they were all together as a gang, I thought it worked really well and they had good chemistry, but since they've branched off slightly and now have their own story arcs, I think it's to the detriment of the show.

These characters are not compelling enough to have their own side stories, IMO. I do like the introduction of the Soldier Boy character, though, and think Jensen Ackles does a great job. But this show is still very much the Homelander show.

EDIT: Oh, and Giancarlo Esposito's character is very good. I do enjoy him.

Is it just me or has Starlight's actress had a very noticeable amount of work done since S2?

Marvin is my favourite
I really dig his dialogue. It's a nice change from the stereotypical black ex-army guy (like Arrow's John Diggle). He's knowledgeable and watches Downton Abbey. I think the OCD angle is well written.

It feels like I'm watching the exact same character in whichever show Esposito plays in. Blame it on typecasting if you will, but I think he has a rather small range.

But he plays that character damn well!

Perhaps I should clarify and say that I don't care about his storyline as opposed to not caring about him as a character. As a character, I think MM is fine, and as I was saying, when they're all together they have good chemistry and I enjoy those moments. I just think their individual storylines are weak.

Another solid episode. A bollywood twist at the end I personally didn't see coming.

Makes me wonder if they're gonna do some Superboy shit where homelanders genetic DNA is made up of Soldier Boy and
Black noir.

That death was brutal. Had to look away.

Wow. This episode had so much character development. Black Noir's best episode of the series. I mean I was expecting none of that. But, what an interesting creative way to tell the backstory and give him development. Nuts, and really well written.

The Soldier Boy is Homelander's father thing I did see coming but only solidly during the episode. Really nice twist. Now do they team up and become a mega problem? Do they continue to be adversaries?

Temp V

Trying to piece together how many times Butcher and Hughie have shot up. According to Annie, they should have like what 1-2 more shots before they die. Seems like 1 of them will need actual V to live.

Butcher 4 times and Hughie 3 by my reckoning.

Butcher alone:
Gunpowder murder

Hughie and Butcher together:
Russian lab
Herogasm
Mindstorm murder

4 and 3 doses is correct. Butcher seems willing to chance a 4th dose for Hughie if it means killing Homelander and himself dying in the process. There's a hell of a finale coming next week, that's for sure.

On the one hand I really hope Frenchie and MM get some sort of big finish to the season to make up for what has been a very shite run for them. On the other hand I don't want the show to waste time on them, since every other character seems to be coming together in a massive clash and I want as much of that as possible.

What was written on the paper Neuman gave Homelander?

Maybe that Novitsjok puts Soldier Boy out? I'm assuming that's what crimson countess used in black noir's retelling.

I don't think he'll let Hughie have more, based on his flashbacks in this episode. I think what will happen is he'll give Frenchie and MM first doses and it'll be those 3 plus kimiko, starlight and possibly maeve and a-train Vs HL and SB.
