I like him. Can cover both positions and has really stepped up in the last year or so.

Sorry but why would Southampton be in a renew or swell situation with him when he's already got a deal to 2025?

End of the day United currently have terrible options at right-back and, as a club, are not as attractive to the top, world class players. Walker-Peters is an upgrade on current options and could prove a decent signing in the short term rebuild.

Never paid him much particular attention, really. Why did Spurs let him go in the first place, their fullback options are hardly great?

The classic fbref check says he carries and dribbles the ball to a very high standard. Lots of touches in the opposition box too for a fullback. We do lack ball carriers in this team, at least…

The only thing extraordinary about this is how ordinary he is...

Not really seen anything that makes me think he's United quality, but at the end of the day, our attempts to chase big names season after season has hardly worked either. If the club think they can find underrated targets and develop, then Ill wait and judge them on how that works out.

Scraping, barrel and bottom are words that come to mind here.

These twitter accounts are as bad as the rag tops, just looking for likes and retweets.

Oh wait, it's coming from the athletic, must be 100% true then. Otherwise people wouldn't pay for it.

He’s a good right back, although I cannot help but immediately associate his name with how Martial totally destroyed him before scoring his solo goal against Saints in 2020.

Mind you, my first thought when I think of Van Dijk is Martial putting him on his arse before scoring his second goal for us.

Not convinced ETH couldn't get enough improvement from Dalot to be on par with a talent like Walker-Peters.

Smart signing to start shaping a Conference league qualifying campaign together.

He's no better than what we already have.

He might be on a shortlist but I doubt it'll go anywhere. Seems more of an agent leak if anything.

Would rather prefer Livramento but he would cost a lot though.

He is actually a very decent right back who I think could seemlessly transition to a big club. He's no TAA, Cancelo or Reece James, but he's very good all the same and an instant starter over what we have. He's also likely not joining, looks more like a side comment that we have interest in him but nothing active.

He might be on the list of scouted RBs but I can't imagine he's near the top of that list. He's good for the level he's at but isn't a top class RB.

I saw AWB at Palace and he was far better than anything KWP has shown at Southampton.

He only got into the saints team because of Livramento's injury. Who was the far far superior player, i don't believe these rumours but we want to be aming at Livramento level players not KWP level.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

AWB is a good fullback in a counter attacking system - if you look at KWP ball progression stats you can see why he’d suit ETH far more.

AWB is actually pretty good himself at ball progression, he just had a horrendous season last year but its definitely one of his only attacking strengths.

I really don't believe he'd suit us more. He's not of the required level so it wouldn't really make a difference. Whatever we might gain in attack would be lost in defence.

I’m an AWB fan but he’s not in an ETH system. He’s poor at passing the ball progressively from deep - if you give him space in transition he’s great at carrying the ball forward but that’s not what ETH wants from his fullbacks.

He's decent enough, but he's not enough of an upgrade on what we've got to justify the fee. If we wanted a Southampton RB it should be Livramento.

He's out until New Year with his cruciate.
And, more importantly, has a fecked knee
Yeah but he looked like a very talented player before his injury. Obviously will need to see how he recovers from it, as it can have a huge impact having such a big injury at a young age. But if he can get to his pre-injury level he's much better than Walker-Peters and the one who should be on our list.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Obviously we shouldn't be spending big money on him, but as long as he's fairly cheap I expect he'd be a decent signing to help tide us over for a season or two. Probably fits ETH's style better than AWB and Dalot (although the latter might come good with proper coaching and system around him). Admittedly I haven't seen him play all that often, but when I have he's seemed solid.
