He only ever steps off his line to give a mouthful to the referee.

All those Leicester fan posts above are almost word for word what we say about De Gea. Would rather keep Tom Heaton as #2

Sucks for them seeing as they missed out on Henderson and Pope.

Don't see why would it be contingent on finding a replacement. They already have Ward that they paid big enough money to Liverpool for. Why not just him a shot and get a new back up in? He's only been there about 5 or 6 years waiting.

He’s a cnut. I guess he got that from his dad.
I think in the podcast that Foster does he made a lot of sense in terms of GK criticism but he also seems to have weird world views.

For anyone wondering why some people don’t like him, I suspect this may be why.

Smug bastard.

The way he spoke about COVID. You could tell he was holding back on how he really felt for obvious reasons.
Alright. He’s always struck me as a pretty level-headed and decent guy, but I haven’t seen this.

I like Kasper. But his danish sense of humour will probably come of as smug to british people.
He is, however, not good enough for United, not even as second choice.

I watch a fair bit of Lesta and he really isn't good. Poor command and weak with his feet/passing. Both he and Vardy are living a bit off their reputations these days.

In fact I see Leicester struggling next year if they don't bring players in.

What am I looking for here? He talks about angles?
Been a while since I watched it so can't remember the time stamps where he is expressing things. Hopefully it was him I was thinking of and not someone else. :nervous::lol:

Fair enough. Like I said, he’s always struck as being a sound bloke so it would surprise me if he had some idiotic opinion on Covid.

Some comments on Schmeichel from a Leicester forum:

And so on. If you think De Gea is frustrating at set-pieces, Schmeichel would drive you insane. Note where he sits relative to De Gea on the below:

Nothing new either. As some of the comments above say, he's been like that for years. Yet for some reason people who don't watch Leicester regularly sometimes seem to imagine him as some sort of commanding presence.
I’m a bit surprised at this, especially Pope and Mendy. I don’t watch them much but always thought Mendy was quality and Pope was good in commanding the area, so I’m really surprised at them being in that bracket

In terms of the amount they try to intercept it does seem odd that Pope would be so average as he's typically the best in the league in terms of the percentage he claims from open play. My guess would be that because Burnley pack their box with some very aerially aggressive defenders like Tarkowski and Mee the goalkeeeper can afford to be a bit more cautious in their set-piece set-up than he really needs to be. Whereas in open play they rely on him more (he's also one of the best in terms of sweeping in the league, which might be surprising given we often think of Burnley as a side who sit deep).

In Mendy's case though I think he probably just isn't as dominant as you'd think, as he doesn't seem to be that great in terms of open play claiming either. 11th out of 21 goalkeepers last season and 17th out of 21 the season before that in terms of the percentage of open play crosses he stops.

Could recreate the days when we brought Van der Gouw in, who was older than our already vet aged keeper.

He's worse in pretty much every single way that De Gea. Has all the faults of De Gea, but worse shot stopping.

100000%. De Gea is a better shot stopper but Kasper is very good in that area. Every other aspect of the game De Gea is average to poor while Kasper is good at it all. So yes, Dave would have to play second fiddle
Madness. Kasper is always glued to his line and he isnt very good on crosses. Which is odd given how good his father was at commanding the whole area.
Kasper is a decent shot stopper, no more than that.

Schmeichel not coming out for crosses is a known problem. Why are you so shocked?
I'm not disputing this as an issue because I tend to agree but last season he was still more than twice as likely to leave his line to deal with a cross than De Gea (and almost twice as likely to deal with a ball in behind the defenders too).

So if Leicester City can see they've got a problem they need to fix with their goalkeeper sticking to his line I'd love to know what the people at Manchester United are looking at.

Well they didnt give him a new contract and I highly doubt we will give De Gea a new one.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
4 or 5 years ago I was quite a fan of his. I always felt he was probably the most solid all-round keeper in the league. Not great at anything, but also didn't really have any weaknesses. Just a very solid keeper. If he was still at that level I'd absolutely like to see him here, even if he was never as good on the ball as I'm sure Eth ideally likes.

However he's noticeably declined the last few years.
