Comes across a real tosser - but I think that was absolutely his intention.

He obviously doesn't want to be at United going forward and let's be honest whilst some of his qualities are what you'd want in a keeper, he has weaknesses and De Gea is currently the better keeper. The only way our No1 changes is with a signing I'm afraid Deano!

He was ok during his spell in the first team at the end of 20/21 that's it. That Salah goal where he left one side of the goal completely open baffled me at the time. Always remember the clamor for him to be brought on for the shootout in the EL final only for him not to get near one of Middlesbrough's penalties in the marathon shootout last season.

It's interesting how Talksport knew alot about the going's on around United last season and him being an alleged leak and now he gives them an exclusive interview.... maybe its just a coincidence

Can’t say that I blame him. If he was promised the #1 spot (and if I recall correctly he claimed it towards the end of the previous season with de gea being relegated to EL?) and then got covid and never got a look back in after - then it is perfectly understandable.

Not good to have players this disgruntled in the dressing room.

Better hope he plays well on this loan, so he can get a permanent move away from the club next year.

Again, he was not nailed on number 1, DDG was playing Europa league games, including the final. So clearly, he was not nailed on.

Yes, the keeper is the only reason we concede goals, if that is the case, lets see him keep that 1.5 goal a game at Nottingham Forest.

Like he made no mistakes? SU away, Liverpool home. There was 0 evidence that he was better than DDG by the margin you are presenting. Lets see Nottingham Forest win rate with him then.

Also, he was told he will be first choice, he got covid and lost his place, we can't blame him for getting covid but its justifiable to blame the club.

Secondly, DDG started the season in fine form, big big saves at Wolves, West Ham etc... which then led to Ole's job being under pressure, you think a manager who needs results cares what an arrogant keeper thinks when he is trying to save his job?

Finally, Rangnick came in and gave everyone a chance, he clearly didn't fancy Henderson and his attitude. Not 1, 3 managers including Carrick stuck with DDG.
I am not saying he didn't make mistakes.

He got his chance and by and large he did well. Doesn't matter what way you look at it, the defense looked better and more assured with him behind. That was shown out in the stats, on average less goals conceded, more clean sheets, a better defensive record resulted in more wins. With DDG and with the same players in front of him the defense hasn't done any better in 4 years than it did with Henderson in goal. So, I really don't see how anyone can say he didn't do his job well, when he has done better than the guy who has been no.1 for the last 11 years has done in the last 4. Even during his "poty season" last season.

By the way in 11 seasons DDG has only conceded below a goal a game 4 times, so I am pretty sure he's had numerous different defenders in front of him, but the result is the same for the most part. Compare that to Courtois over the same period and he's played for 3 different clubs and he's been part of different defenses that have done it 7 times with him.

Regardless of who you or me think is a better keeper, there were other issues at play here and he as a man has to realise that instead of being so immature.

Ole had him pencilled as no.1 fact. He got covid DDG played well, Ole was probably waiting for a chance to swap them back but he couldn't because of the pressure he was under.

Changing the keeper back to Henderson was probably the last thing on his mind then. A manager will always look out for himself first, he went into shock mode and stuck to players he knew and thats it.

I dont get what he was hoping to achieve. Burning bridges with a club you have a contract with for the next 3 years is kind of weird. Giving international coaches grief about not ringing you when your injured is another weird one, unless your the star player you can pretty much forget about get selected again any time soon.

Needed to keep his mouth shut, Lukaku type situation he will be replaced now. Good luck at Forest in the Championship in 12 months.

Better goalkeepers out there, United have very deep pockets if they ever move on DDG for his wages. Henderson really should have not spoken.

He could say "I was frustrated at being told I'd be number 1, then I got covid so I'm happy to be back playing" he didn't have to go further than he did. Lack of experience for him will mean he won't be playing for a top top club potentially again.

He wasn’t impressive at all when he came in though. I think fans got excited by someone who came off their line but actual goalkeeping was middle of the road
Would you say he got a fair crack at the whip though? I can’t recall him getting a run of games to prove himself, and DDG didn’t exactly cover himself in glory when he played last season either. So I can sympathise with Henderson in one aspect.

I think he’s been viewed quite harshly on here, but if, and only if, what he’s saying is true. And I don’t see how we can know either way. If he was told about the offer of loans and stated that he would happily take one in order to play regular football, but was told he would be playing regularly here, and then simply never picked, I think he has a right to feel aggrieved. And he has the right to speak the truth too, regardless of who his bosses are. In all walks of life people have the right to expect the truth from their employers, and to be able to highlight it if they’ve been misled. But as I say, we can’t, and never will, know the truth of the conversation he had last year. But I think those posters who are automatically calling him a leaker, a bad apple, a negative character etc, are not being fair. The only way I’d think they were being fair is if they somehow had first hand knowledge of what he was promised.

He's been viewed quite harshly because he has always come across as a mouthy/whiny guy, regardless of this interview. Talked the talked when he returned to United again but wasn't able to walk the walk. Even when de Gea was going through his worst period at United, Henderson was at best just marginally better. He seems like a super confident guy, which is probably a good attribute to have, but at the same time he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.

He needs to back this up with a good start to the season because he may have youth on his side but Wayne Hennessey is a proven PL keeper and I don't think Cooper is the type of manager who would be afraid to make a change if he is not doing it on the pitch.

Of all the things he said not wanting ETH to see him in action and not even talking to him is definitely the weirdest.

Yeah. Because he wanted to play football so much so, that he wouldn't risk being used stuck at the club as a smalltime pawn. He was misled and doesn't trust the hierarchy. Yet, here we are blaming him. He was secured and signed on big wages, promised a spot and then left to sit on the bench. We certainly haven't improved by using him like that. He is the clubs asset and he has been devalued by the club, not the other way around.

If you don't like the way he speaks, it's because he is honest and ambitious and you're probably not. The thing I really don't get is that everybody blames the club for how poor we've been, but when a player speaks out on his own mistreatment - he get the abuse from fans. Makes sense.

He should shut up, sit on the bench for five years doing nothing, and collect his huge wages.

That's the way to earn respect.

This. Definitely. Remember when he came off his line... all the way over to the LB position? His determination to show he was not rooted to his line like DeGea resulted in some suicidal plays. He was more prone to moving around in the box, but his shot-stopping was well below DeGea, and I didn't think he was any better with his feet.

As most people on here I have a profession I take pride in. To suggest I can not be honest nor ambitious because I'm level headed is just funny.

It's petty, childish and moronic to have a go at your club on tv, a club that pays you millions a year. He has every right to feel however he wants but keep outside the media. The boy is a childish unprofessional.

I'm not sure going to a club with Lingard where they can both sit there and slag off how "badly" they were treated by United (read Ole) is really the best environment. But he comes across as a real tool with his whole "i'm so good i didn't want the manager to see me train. Because how could he think about sending me out on loan again after my majesty in between the sticks?"

Makes you wonder how ole was any less toxic than mourinho?

Not only did he completely set our standards low and devoid of a winners mentality but far more players have wanted out of united under ole and allowed players far too much power

Few things:

Can understand his point of view, fair play to him wanting more gametime.

But he comes across as arrogant and bitter, toxic almost.

He's finished at United.

I think that every team's number 2 goalkeeper should always be out on loan ans playing every week. That way they are keeling sharp, learning, you get to see how good, or not , they are and they don't cost you anything in wages, or a lot less.

Goalkeepers don't get rested or rotate, are available to come back if the number 1 gets injured and for that once in 5 seasons when you have to sub the keeper I'm sure number 3 can see you through the rest of that game.

So what happens when you need your number 2 but they're out on loan?

You have to give him credit. That is a very effective way of ending your United career.

Yes because a manager as detail oriented and fastidious as ETH would not have a clue who he is and could have his head turned by seeing Deano making world class saves in training, give me a break. Henderson began the 20/21 season as our number 2 and it was mutually agreed that he would have a chance to push for playing time, contrary to his narrative that promise was kept, DDG struggled and Deano got a run of games in the PL but critically for anyone who was watching he was decent but hardly set the world on fire. On the basis of the above he was retained for the following season to once again battle with DDG for the top spot with the difference being he was now the man in possession and due to start the season as number 1 but then guess what, he got COVID, DDG played and was back to something like his best form during the opening weeks of the season and so he rightly retained his place when Dean was fit again. It is literally how it works at every other club so why does he think an exception should be made for him? It has been pointed out elsewhere that DDG went on to win the Players Player of the Year award, do you really think any manager could retain credibility with his team by dropping the guy that the rest of the squad thinks is their best player just to soothe the feelings of his backup? The whole interview came across like my 7 year old whining that it's not fair when I tell him he can't have extra V Bucks.

If you are in any doubt that the guy is a grade a prick with an ego the size of a planet just check out his comments on the England team, whining that nobody has followed up with him to explain his position with the squad as though he is the second coming of Gordon Banks. He will wind up playing for relegation level clubs or in the Championship when he leaves here for good, we may need to replace DDG but I would rather use Kovar than pick this dipshit.

That’s not deluded in fairness, it’s probably correct as he’s objectively a better goalkeeper than Heaton. It’s certainly weird though as it suggests he doesn’t back himself to take De Geas place under the new manager which given De Geas skillset vs what Ten Hag wants from a goalkeeper is astonishing.

Classic overrated bottom 10 English goalkeeper if I ever saw one. Toxic bellend as well. The 20 mil buy option seems pretty good to me now. We should be in for a keeper very soon though.

It's really not as big a deal as is being made out. Why does everything, no matter how trivial blow up these days?

If I'm his adviser, it's not something I would advocate for because he still has a contract with us, so while it may have felt good to stick the knife in now he's out on loan, it actually doesn't achieve anything good.

But on the other hand, if you get told you'll play football and you sit on your arse for a whole season, you would be massively disappointed. It depends on what that discussion was, which we are not privy to. If certain expectations were set and we asked the player to stay and then did not fulfill them, you would be angry. On the other hand if we did no such thing and said that he has to win a place, then it is less justified.

Overall it wouldn't bother me that much if I'm ETH. If he had a spectacular loan spell and DeGea didn't pull up trees, would I be disinclined to consider Henderson? Not at all, I'd get over it. Move on.

It’s a big deal because a large portion of posters have decided he’s a dick basically. If it was Garner or Garnacho upset about broken promises they wouldn’t give a toss. That’s why his performances thread is already longer than De Gea despite not playing a game for us and De Gea throwing two pathetic goals in during pre season.
