It’s a weird signing. I think you have to play the ball forward on the ground a bit more then Chelsea do to get the best out of these players.

Apparently he played 10 games as LCB so it’s okay. Despite the fact Koulibaly is a LCB.

Chelsea are just bidding for players utterly randomly
They're being linked with Aubameyang now which adds further evidence to that theory. Seems a bit scatter-gun to me.

Sorry not to be irritating but where have you seen that? I know we've been linked to him for years but I haven't seen anything credible of late...

You should have at least one memory, he scored his one and only last season against us.
That was literally the only game I didn’t watch last season as I was abroad but ironically just seen the goal now in a highlights compilation of this guy

I know it’s only highlights, but fair play he actually looks pretty tasty. Very aggressive, quick and great on the ball. Think he’ll be perfect in Chelseas system and arguably better suited and ability than Chilwell.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I bet the new owner is undermining Tuchel. Reciepe for dusaster. Chelsea lose a top coach and havr to start a another rebuild.

Reeks of Woodward esque practices at owner level.

So Barca didn't gazump this guy from us. Great and also azpilicueta signed two year extension. Things finally shaping up one more defender and a forward if Werner goes,we are set for season.

Cucu will be Werner replacement.. jokes but he has played further forward. Would be a good versatile acquisition

Well our three signings for first team this season all are versatile, can play multiple positions. Sterling can play across front three in our system. Koulibaly can play all back 3 positions in our system. This cucurella guy can play as left wing back ,left back, left center back. Very good addition to our team.

Our summer spending reached £150 mn.Still one more cb needed. Or azpi stays will change our strategy and go for midfield and forward upgrade instead of defence.

What on earth.
50m as a deputy for Chilwell? Or playing him as left sided centre back?
LCB next to Silva would be funny and his height will never be brought up by our fans or opps and the media.

Well he plays LCB in a back 3, which is different than being smaller and playing in a back two pairing isn’t it?

in the world of 5 subs you better be able to send waves of people at the full wings. And that’s just assuming Cucu isn’t just flat better than Ben, or that Ben can stay healthy.

Ridiculous fee, Brighton have done well

Shame they couldn't get Colwill on a permanent deal.

Probably first time I feel another club has paid what we would end up paying in an ordinary transfer.

Fee is a bit excessive but its probably better this way than with Colwill leaving permanently. We'd end up having to pay a lot more than this if we were to buy him back down the road.

Obviously we made him look like prime Marcelo - but has he shown anywhere near enough to be a £50m player?

Chelsea might have been Wan Bissakad there.

EDIT: Just seen the full fee might end up over £60m - they've surely been had.

How likely is that to happen though. You’ll carry on buying oldies.

He’s good but is being wildly overrated, am guessing it’s because Pep wanted him.

How likely is it that Chelsea would buy back a player they have sold, who has gone on to be great?

My gut feeling is we’ve ended up paying premium on Cucurella to get Brighton to accept just a loan for Colwill. Excessive fee but for me a satisfactory outcome given the Colwill and Cucurella transfers were connected in some way.

This takes their net spending to 156 million. How on earth is it possible for them to add De Jong to this?

Brighton have taken them to the cleaners there. Fair play
