Sadly on paper I'd have to go for Spurs and Arsenal, two of our rivals for top 4. Spurs have added depth and options all around the pitch. When you combine it with their January business it's a big transformation. Arsenal, while I'm not convinced by Zichenko and Jesus being the top players some think the latter is undoubtedly a big improvement over what they have their right now. And Zinchenko can be dodgy at times but on his day is a big threat.
None of this means these clubs definitely will do really well this season. Remains to be seen how good some of these players really are. But on paper it's a good summer for them.
And given they are our rivals for top 4 we really have to get important business done in the next couple of weeks otherwise we will lose pace and fall behind this season. I like our business so far - but we undoubtedly need more especially in attack.
They've had a quality window as well but having lost Rudiged and Christianson reduces the impact slightly. I think Sterling and Cucurella are excellent signings.
The mighty potters are having a decent window so far given our FFP constraints.
Out:
Joe Allen (and his 50k a week)
Tommy Smith (Big wages)
Tom Ince (Big wages)
James Chester
Steven Fletcher
Mario Vrancic
Alfie Doughty (always injured)
Benik Afobe (Big wages)
In:
Josh Laurent
Dwight Gayle (second most prolific striker in Champ history)
Will Smallbone (loan)
Gavin Kilkenny (loan)
Harry Clark (loan)
Aden Flint
Liam McCarron
Connor Taylor (promoted from youth team. Excellent debut)
In the pipeline:
Liam Delap (loan)
Matt Clark (loan or transfer)
For significantly reducing the wage bill while also spending nothing. Pretty good window in my ages.
Worried about our wing backs as maybe not a lot of depth and same goes with GK too. Joe Bursik doesn't inspire me with confidence but he is still young and made a few good saves Saturday.
On the whole though I think that's a good window for a club reducing their wage bill and shopping in the free/loan market
