obviously! none of this is at all embarassing. it’s all a part of the plan. not even slightly humiliating at all. nothing to see here guys.
The same comments in the summer of last year and also in the winter market. And we all know how it ended. With everyone registered in the league.

What a disaster of a club. They didn't even know the rules before they started splashing the loan away. Idiots
This is what I find mind boggling. Surely someone had to have looked into this before making those signings? For the past couple weeks I’ve been seeing that Barcelona should have no issue registering their signings, and yet here we are.

..by selling your greatest ever player? How many games did Messi play for you last year?

Laliga gives Barcelona a salary cap of about €530M currently and Barcelona has a salary bill of €620M. These are the approximate figures.
With the €100M of the last lever should give to register the players.

I suppose Barcelona will look to sell Depay, give the letter of freedom to some players to make room for Bernardo Silva and M. Alonso.
Don't be surprised if this "lever" is more expensive than the first. At the rate the club is selling future cashflows I'd want a hefty premium to sign on at this point. Any potential buyer will be looking at this and thinking about the long term solvency of the club.

It rather was the case that they thought they can do whatever they want and that La Liga will wave through any request as they are the mighty Barca

Hear me out… I know this might be shocking, but maybe, just maaaaayyyybe, don’t buy Bernardo Silva before you can actually register the players you already bought? Crazy idea, never mind.

How will they manage to deal with the extra amortization from Lewandowski, Raphina, Kounde and Torres.
Not sure why Amortization is important if their Operating Cash Flows are positive. I understand that 'profit' is affected by amortization but lets say they went to La Liga and showed them a flat, near zero profit, but OCFs higher than before, would la Liga penalize them?
Also why are we assuming that their revenues won't jump back to pre-pandemic levels? They've replaced Messi with other marketable players and should also perform better this year.

Nobody sold Messi, Barcelona could not renew him and that's the way things are. For me it was the best option.

There is a thread from 12 years ago and the same thing was said as it is now. Barcelona will be better or worse depending on the management that is done year after year.

Players will register first obviously. Then the club will look to have FFP to sign Bernardo Silva.

So if they don't raise enough money, can these players be again registered only in January?
I think they can be registered any time, but raising money/lowering wages is hard to do after the window closed
They can only be registered starting Jan 1 (assuming they can’t register by close of summer window.) The transfer window can moreso be named as a registration window as to when clubs can register new players with their respective leagues, hence why you can sign players in March but can only play them next season, and MLS’s window closed yesterday while the top 5 leagues are all sometime on Aug 31/Sep 1.

Obviously they knew. That is why they had prepared the sale of 49% of BarcaStudios in 2 parts.
You don't find 2 buyers who give you €100M each overnight.
But you didn’t want to use that lever . The bids you got were all super low for what you would be giving up. The valuation figure being tossed around when “members” voted on this was between 6 and 700 (and yes, I told you where to look for those figures). In BarcaUniversal Laporte acted offended at a 300 million figure and would “hold out for better offers”.

He did t get one

200 million for half of all your merchandising and image rights …. Would be near suicidal. Your valuation is apparently that low due to a multitude of issues ranging from your clubs desperation to their legal struggles with Nike; NOT because they do t need to earn much more than that figure from their BLM over time.

In an article in Barca Universal on Jul 2nd Barca said they would no longer consider the 49% sale, their reasoning being that it would give too much power outside their group. They floated the idea of 25 % sale, but they haven’t no proof the parties would be interested in that.

Their own accountants are drinking the same Kool Aid as the Barca apologists.

Just waiting for the next round of furious tweets from the Catalunya based media smearing FDJ, Braithwaite etc.

Of course they didn't know because they wouldn't have tried to register the players if La Liga would reject it.

I have no clue what's happening at Barcelona but many of the fans on here trying to reassure people sound ridiculous. There's still a lot of uncertainty, I do think however with the sale of a few individuals they will be ok for this season.

I thought they were giving up income rights, not actual ownership stake for BLM. Am I wrong? @Niemans

Got to be in a position to sell them first, obviously. FDJ is going nowhere until he gets his money.

My sentiment: They thought they'd build up hype so that the league would give them a free ride this time around.

The whole thing about not attributing to malice that can be explained by incompetence is challenged by them, because it seems to be both in their case.

Here we are trying to provide information and based on that we make an opinion.
Laporta for what he did in his first term should not be president. So you can imagine what I think of him.

What circumstances you mean exactly? The false and lying social media narrative barca doesn't pay their players? Astonishing, how many people bite on such bullshit. I always wonder how those "journalists" get any klicks and traffic to make a living with defamation. Then I read those kind of posts. Maybe you should go and watch some training videos barca posts daily. There you can see how the team "functions".
What annoys me the most about your post and other Barcelona supporters’ posts is how you’re always complaining about other people buying into the fake reports and the lying social media.

Ffs, as United supporters we deal with this crap every single day and have done so since before social media existed. The press and social media have spent most of the past decades sucking Barcelona’s balls and praising anything and everything about your club. Stop whining, crying, and losing your shit. Get used to your post-Messi life and get some lube. You are finally going to need it.

I didnt say that their excuse that it would affect their control was legitimate was true. This is what I was referring to MANY pages ago when I said the reasoning Barca themselves were putting out were ridiculous.

I was quoting Barca outlets, which is what Niemanns likes, even though he must realize by now anything Barca or Barca adjacent I’d probably misleading at best.

They don’t want to pull this lever because it is a horrible financial decision that might be something they can’t just “overcome”.

When they hit the record for income at 1 billion and something in a year in 18/19, it was in large part because their BLM revenue grew by 63 mil just in one year. That’s a massive amount of income to give up over multiple years in exchange for a 200 mil loan.

They would owe the group 49.5 percent of that 280 million Spotify deal wouldnt they?

Now the Barca article said that if they gave up 49.5% of BLM rights they could even end up with people being assigned to their boards outside of the membership. If that were true it would obviously be even worse. But I don’t see why it would have to be structured that way…. Unless a 50+ stake plus the other debt would risk leaving the m exposed to someone buying up member shares. But that’s a whole different deep dive.

The more important thing to take away is that they know the 49.5 “lever” is a bad deal. But nobody I can find have offered them a 25% stake lever as an alternative. It is different enough that the members would have to re vote on it, surely? And no guarantee on a buyer.

On the whole I agree with you, but a pay day loan isn’t as bad as selling off assets. Having said that though, if confirmed to be the true deal, the shit they’re trying to pull off reminds me of worldcom.
The first two levers involved Barcelona selling €25% of their TV rights:
  • Barcelona and Sixth Street created a subsidiary company called LOGKSLEY Investments S.L. (50/50 ownership)
  • Barcelona transfers ownership of 25% of its TV rights to this company permanently.
  • Sixth Street pays €517m for 25% of the TV rights for the next 25 years.
    • Barcelona pays €150m to acquire that percentage back from year 26 onwards.
    • Total: €667m
  • Barcelona then obtains €667m from LOGKSLEY.
  • What Barcelona tells La Liga: LOGKSLEY bought 25% of the TV rights for €667m
    • La Liga, however, only recognise the €517m from Sixth Street as new cash for Barcelona; they ignore the €150m that Barcelona include as part of the deal.
This can also potentially get them in trouble with UEFA's FFP rules if they aren't careful.

Whatever Barcelona are doing this summer reeks of kicking the can further down the road rather than addressing their actual issues. They will always have a pull for the best players due to the city, culture, history and size of the club, so I don't understand why they are so insistent on signing so many players this summer when their focus should be on balancing the books. The way this is going, the fans defending Laporta now will be the same fans cursing him a few years down the line when they actually have to start paying back all the money they have borrowed this season.

The original 49% vote was for BLM, with a top bid of 275 million after adds.

The Lever you ended up pulling was indeed for Barca studios which, while also not great, is much better than selling a huge chunk of the BLM. But the figures on the studio's sale that I can find was for 24.5 percent at 102 million, not 200. The question is if it will be sufficient in terms of how fast the deal can be done, how far will it clear them in terms of what business will be forced ?

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with Barcelona's finance. If they are going to burn down the road, let them. I am sure someone, some oil countries will bail them out anyway.

We’re watching the complete meltdown of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Selling off future incomes, over 1B in debt and still they’re signing players they can’t even register.

Massive trouble at Barcelona, what exactly is the plan to get out of this? there seems to be no way back.

Assuming the super league doesn’t happen, this seems the most likely outcome. Which is not the worst for them. But after all this embarrassment, morally bankrupt tactics, and just all around disaster class level operating, to finally have them sold off to a billionaire, or a nation state, and having them become just another club, will be a shame. All entirely self inflicted. It will be great seeing the apologists explain it away.
On the plus side, it will once and for all end this sanctimonious “more than a club” bs.

I love this phrase, letter of freedom. It sounds as though they are releasing a slave instead of a player, make it sound like they're doing the player a favour. And then get offended by the likes of Braithwaite saying - thanks lads, but I'll have those wages you promised me instead. And then use the press to paint Braithwaite as being thd bad guy in it.

A real shit club.

With the precarious nature of La Liga, and how much trouble the league has been in, Barca and Madrid turned to orchestrating the Super League.

So the last time they felt threatened, even less so than now I would imagine, we ended up with an existential threat to the entire structure of European football, the long term existence of The Premiere League, Bundesliga, la Liga , Serie A … all of it… transformed into what would be an essentially franchised structure no too dissimilar to the NFL.

As things get worse the lawsuits The NY Times confirmed Barca, Madrid, and Juve are discussing to either push teams towards the Superleague (unlikely) , or it means a giant fight over money that will affect Arsenal as well.

So Barca crashing isn’t so simple. There a LOT of potential ripples.

What's this letter of freedom bullshit the Barca fan keeps posting? You can't replace a multi million euro contract with a "letter of freedom" - Barca and a player has entered into a legally binding contract, in said contract there will be loyalty fees relating to transfers etc so simply saying "let's call it quits eh?" Won't cut it.

If you want to get rid of players without a buying club you'll have to give the player an incentive, no player will want to risk being a free agent for a year without some kind of compensation.
