Ole took us to several cup finals and smacked Pep's City multiple times. The league is what people care about. They were 8th for a reason.

Anyway, I'm surprised that the point is this contentious. I don't expect us to play like peak Ajax from day one - even with the pre-season. It'll take time.
Indeed, they were 8th for a reason, before the previous manager fecked up the team and was sacked during the season, not because of Klopp.

This is pure bullshite. Giving managers time for the sake of it isn’t support. Managers have to be good enough and we haven’t had a good enough manager since Fergie. I’m optimistic that Ten Hag is a top manager who will return us to the top but we still need to see evidence of that on the pitch. What you are basically saying is it doesn’t matter how managers perform we will back them.

How many games will you give him?

Easy to blame journalists, but take a look at RedCafe. The most active threads are the Ronaldo and transfer threads, not discussions about tactics and setups.

Journos are asking about what people are most interested in.
One group are University educated professionals and the other are teenage keyboard warriors.

if we can’t differentiate between the two then then we might as well let JohnnyRed from Surbiton do the interviews.

I get that but it’s capitalism. You give people what they want to buy. Sports journalism is closer to an entertainment product, rather than actual journalism.

So why bother going to University? Also tells us something about the banal support of a large % of most teams fan base.

So many prats feel the need to ‘have a voice’ rather than doing their job.

Good press conference from ETH. Also, it's about time we stop calling these clowns "journalists". They are propagandists whose job is to play mind games and say things to provoke you.

He looked/sounded combative and up for the fight. Let’s hope the team are the same on Sunday. Ready to go.

Erik is a smooth operator in these press conferences, not going to take any nonsense from these poorly researched journalists who are looking for a headline and something spicy to hype up about.

If I were a manager this would be the worst part of the job. Answering inane questions from the enemy who write any old lie in order to get a click.

I used to love the days when SAF used to ban certain journalists. Good times.

Its obvious he wants more players. He’s always direct and strict in pressers. They should ask him tactical stuff, he loves that.
I don’t think they’d have the first idea what to ask, most of them.

He's not entirely wrong, though, is he?

The initial pressers of every post-SAF manager have been generally hailed on here.

Except for - maybe - Moyes.

I'm not pointing fingers - I did it myself.

Even Maureen: "Finally, a ruthless cnut - a real winner, he takes shit from nobody."
In fairness, Mourinho had a cult-like following since his initial success, and right or wrong a lot of United fans were desperate for him to work-out.
But for those paying attention, in his very first presser before the season kick-off he already separated himself from the club and fed the press ammunition to go after the club whilst laying the ground-work to absolve himself from results.

I’ll give him a fair chance as I have every manager. He will have to meet a set of minimum expectations.
- Improvement of players and players hitting their ability level.
- A clear style of play which we can see develop
- Competing for top 4
- Integrating youth/using his squad
- more than anything else having a Utd team that’s enjoyable to watch.

Im willing to give him time but those are the minimum expectations for any Utd manager. If they can’t manage that they either aren’t good enough, or aren’t a good fit for the club.
