The noise is concerning for sure ( not Arry, that’s just comical) but when you think logically and with Eriks comments earlier it’s still hard to believe we don’t think he will come. Even if he has changed his mind he would let ten Hag know, “I was coming but I fancy Chelsea more now they are interested”. I’m still confident he is coming soon because it’s painfully obvious Barca need him gone now and I’m not convinced of Chelsea’s interest or how serious they are about it.
This is the mindset that I’m trying to get to

What do we do if de Jong does go Chelsea? Where do we go from there because by the looks of it we don’t have a plan or any back up midfielders, we’ve put all our eggs into one basket and it could backfire massively. We’ve waited so long for 1 player that we’re starting the season without a stronger midfield then last year.

If he had changed his mind, he'd surely have the decency to tell ten Hag. We could then move to exit the deal and paint it in a way that makes it look like things were too difficult to overcome with the wages etc. I can't understand why, if he did want to go to Chelsea, we'd brief the media saying we're confident and believe he still wants to come.

It would make us look beyond stupid and considering we're trying to improve our image, we'd make big big strides to make it worse than it already is

Harry has been known to take a bung over the years….he will say whatever…stay calm…it’s going to work out.

Barca are trying every trick in the book not to pay Frenkie what he thinks he is due…

We just go and buy one don’t we?

And Eriksen clearly makes our midfield stronger, despite how underrated he is on here.

Confirmation bias, I'll take it! HERE WE GO

1,097 Twitter followers that's a good number right?

Right?

(I refuse to believe he'd come for only €300k per week)

We’ve got Murtoughs smile, and Eriks chuckle. They know something, obviously. Wouldn’t be surprised by a sneak unveiling at OT on Sunday!
They know more than we do thats for sure and I don't think many journos are taking this Chelsea stuff as seriously as we are on here. Not many have really jumped on the bandwagon and really spent a lot of time reporting on it.

@Brownie85 there you go
Aaaah thank you! I've not seen that but if Fofana is the main target, then I'd say Frenkie doesn't rate highly in Chelseas priorities

Priced out of De Jong and Sesko 100%
Why though? Is there an actual number they can spend that they're close to reaching? Seems far fetched that they can't spend if they want when Barca are currently selling family members to sign players.

He hasn’t won a league outside of fecking PsG, not even gotten close in fact.
And getting Ajax to a CL semi, a few seconds from a final is much more impressive than Tuchel’s PSG record.

Tuchel’s a good manager, but massively overrated due to that bizarre CL win. Yet no-one would’ve claimed Di Matteo or Avram Grant an amazing coach.
Well Tuchel has done more than Di Matteo and Grant in getting to 2 CL finals winning 1 and a semi final in a row. He's been a cup final magnet and that was my point and players want the CL and to get far into it and cups as well.

There is no coincidence that SamTransfers’ surname is Transfers. The fecker lives for the Transfer game. Tier one in my eyes

Defo Tier 1, he's tweeting what we want to hear. Give that guy a gold medal with a big 1 on it!
We get so many unreliable sources saying FDJ don’t want to join/wants to go to Chelsea, I don’t mind this unreliable one :D

Sterling 50m
Koulibaly 35m
Cucurella 62m
Chukwuemeka 15m
Fofana 80m?

They have sold nobody.

SURELY they can’t afford Frenkie?!

Barcelona still can't registered their players with the 4th lever.

The key criteria is in the first two levers which doesn't fulfil La Liga requirements.

There has to be a reasonable limit you'd imagine. They can't just spend and spend and spend for the fun of it. I could see them making a move for de Jong if they managed to sell a few of their current midfielders, but it's more likely they'll pass on him and go for the next huge name next summer.

That's my opinion anyway, they still need a striker too, and there's no point going all out on defense if you're going to skimp up front! Goals win games... admittedly keeping goals out of your own net helps too haha

I think Chelsea or any club won't spent a quarter of a billion pound in a transfer window.

I think the new owner wants to get Chelsea to the top again but it can blow up in their face. Too many additions means time to bed in and it can take time, buying an entirely new spine in one window I can't see it.

Koulibaly, Fofana (if they get him), Cucurella, Sterling all need to bed in.

At some point I think Chelsea need a few sales, because they have a wage bill too which is growing.

Barkley, Mount, Kovacic, Jorginho, Kante, Havertz I mean how many midfielders do they need? they need to sell.

Yes they need a striker, and you could say Sesko maybe would be good for them but, you can't remodel your whole team in one window. They still need to figure out what to do with Werner. I can't see it personally.

It’s always worked before

If anybody upstairs at United really knew De Jong wanted Chelsea over United…we would brief the press immediately we weren’t interested anymore….

I have written before that FDJ will be ours. Yes, Chelsea may have deep pockets, and may be a more attractive destination for players in general, but both Fofana and a CF are important positions for them right now. Nobody (except, state clubs, may be) spends more than 300m in one window, that's ridiculous. I would only be worried if the Fofana deal collapses, as there ae no other defenders Chelsea seem to seriously linked with atm.
