There HAS to be some doomers willing to put their neck on the line and agree to voluntarily feck off from this place if he doesn’t sign, surely?!
I'm no fan on the way our club is run, it's owners etc, and missing out on FDJ would make our window very average. However, it's been blatantly obvious for months now that doomer/"embarrassed" brigade are only here for the negative reports so they can validate yelling at virtual clouds and feeling good whilst changing nothing. If you want to know where the majority of this likely comes from, have a look at the live chat comments on a Mark Goldbridge video. Thought i'd have a look at one last week and all I saw was bile about "ETH lost me when he backed maguire", "ETH sticking with FDJ and not getting Neves is validation we made the wrong choice". It's a self-perpetuating cycle of anger that they can't break out from.

I remember Ole in that press conference when it looked like Haaland was signing, we know how that turned out
Ole did say he knows where Haaland was going, but it wasnt for him to break the move to Dortmund hence he was coy. He would have known Woodward baulked at the release clause. With hindsight it was probably a rueful smile.

Had to be this. We were bad in transfer market over the last decade, but their spending (they are still chasing some targets) this year is close to our highest spending season this decade.

What the strangest thing is about this saga is how Ten Hag is sticking to his "only the right player" mantra.

At what point does he then start looking at another target? Only if or when De Jong signs somewhere else?

That would.be massively reckless and irresponsible. Surely we're not that stupid as a club today. After the last few years we've been through. Surely.... Right?
Well it's early days at United for the manager and scouting at the club. If Frenkie doesn't happen then they will work on other targets throughout the year and get the right player in, that's what he means. Many players get sounded out and worked on through agents over a long period of time and then the deal can be done quickly in the summer.

I'd rather that way than just quickly paying 50-70m just to get someone in this summer and be lumbered with them.

Maybe they have a gentleman's agreement

Personally I don't think the amount of money spent has been the issue. Its how they spent it.

I thought they'd fixed that by bringing in Rangnick. Only to sack him after 5 months because he actually wanted to do what he was brought in for.

Other than the Glazers being protested against and ousted. Nothing will matter.
New owners who put the right people in charge of the club should be the only priority for now.
That is exactly what they've brought up with the Glazers for a long time.

There is no doubt that we got the "green light" from the FDJ camp to agree a deal with Barca, and he would be willing to come. But any realistic Muppet would also acknowledge that this "green light" would not be exclusive to MUFC. If Chelsea genuinely go "all in" for FDJ, they will likely have got the same "green light" from his camp.

It was pretty hard to get a read on ten Hag today with his Frenkie answer. He was definitely sarcastic about it, but was his laugh and smile a case of nervousness because he knows what's actually going on with the Chelsea stuff, and the backlash to come, or was it a case of confidence that he knows he's got his man regardless of what's printed in the media? The fact he added when there's news, we'll tell you says that there's something going on for sure.

It's like the sit down interview the other day when he was asked the same question and a voice said behind the camera sounded like it said "you know you can't talk about that" almost like they were ensuring they were holding ten Hag back from saying something he shouldn't.

Those Barcelona fans who were knocking around here last week have gone very quiet about these levers being absolutely genius since La Liga decided they didn’t accept crypto as revenue.

I want to still believe that but the noise around Chelsea from the likes of Mitten, Neville & Redknapp make me unconvinced

How are "we" fecking this up? We agreed the deal with Barca, the problem is FDJ-Barca negotiations. How on earth can any one say MUFC are fecking this up?
I think many feel we have hindered ourselves by being all in for the same player with no time to find alternative

that's a different, and valid argument to have. The poster is claiming "we", so the club, are fecking up the FDJ deal if he doesn't come. How? How is that even possible??

We can agree to disagree, I'd rather the club approach the 2nd best player in the World for that position. And then the 3rd.

The point being if the deal doesn't go through its a feck up on the club's behalf. You don't spend the whole transfer window waiting for one player and then leave empty-handed.

Because they are idiots and are being played. It has happened before.
I’m not optimistic it’s happening to be honest, and true it has happened before, but we have completely new people in charge, back room staff and manager. Also FDJ has played under ETH before, it’s hard to believe that he doesn’t respect him enough to tell him he’s not coming. Maybe he did tell him, and the club working on other targets behind the scenes. I personally don’t think the club is operating purely on assumptions/being played.

I know in my line of work there are times we are in a tireless back and forth negotiating...and then something from one side or the other breaks free and it finally gets done. Sometimes its timing, or added leverage, or many many different
Are you really responsible for Pogba’s styling and colouring. That’s what I want to know
Only the easy stuff. I refused the blue dye jobs...

Thats an argument in favour of the deal happening in my book.
Plus you have to think, this is ten Hags first transfer window at United... if he's telling the board to stay in the deal when it's clear he wants to go to Chelsea, its not really going to bode well for him for future windows.

He'd already have strained relationships with everyone, and they'd likely restrict his future transfer freedoms. Its things like that which really make me think there's so much more to this than we or the media know.

One part that baffles me is the whole living in london thing. Surely he would live in Surrey as that’s where the training ground is? Can’t be that different to Cheshire in that it’s just big houses in the countryside! Champions league can be a deciding factor but not sure about the rest
