NAME: Pedro Porro
AGE: 22
HEIGHT: 5'9
POSITION: RB/RWB
NATIONALITY: Spain
TEAM: Sporting Clube De Portugal

Description : It is no surprise that Sporting has hosted a hot bed of talents in the last 3 years and Pedro Porro is no exception to the rule. Pedro Porro is your typical Spanish player combining flair with a hard nose tenacity and mentality. Porro is a player with a lot of emotion who celebrates a block, save, or interception like it was a goal. Never scared to get in someones face Porro has the typical pit bull South American personality despite being Spanish. Pedro Porro became a regular starter for Girona in La Liga before being purchased by Manchester City for 11M and loaned back to La Liga side Valladolid. For the 2020/21 season Manchester City loaned Porro to Sporting CP for 2 years with an option to buy for 8.5M which Sporting subsequently exercised in January of 2022. Porro quickly became a important member of the squad and along with Nuno Mended at left back formed the best right and left back partnership in the league as Sporting won the league title and Porro was voted the best right back in the league. In 2021/22 Porro showed an increased maturity in his game and has become one of the key members of the squad winning for the second year in a row the delegation of being considered the best right back in the country. Now in his 3rd year in the league Porro will be looking to continue his successful tenure with the club before making a move to one of Europes big clubs. While at Sporting Porro has become a Spanish international, earning his first caps for his country. Pedro Porro is also rumored to be sleeping with Joao Felix girlfriend (sorry I had too  :D).

PLAYSTYLE: Pedro Porro is a technically gifted attacking fullback who plays in the RWB position for Sporting in Amorim's 5-2-3 set up. The wing back position in this set up is very demanding and Porro fills the role seamlessly which makes me believe he would not have any problems adjusting to the demanding play of the EPL. Pedro Porro's crossing, passing, shooting and dribbling ability makes him a big threat going forward and is always a threat on the offensive end. In the 2020/2021 season Porro scored 4 goals and 4 assists and he improved that mark in 2021/2022 scoring 5 goals and dishing out 6 assists. Porro has also proven to a viable option at set pieces and regularly takes corners, as well as penalties. Porro has also shown to be a capable free kick taker if need be. Defensively Porro does not shy away from his duties and celebrates a tough challenge as much as he does a goal. His ability to commit to both ends of the pitch along with his passion has made him a fan favorite among the Sporting faithful. At 22 years old he still has a lot to grow and learn but he is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the world at his position/age group.

Strengths: Shooting. Crossing, Dribbling, Set Pieces, Penalties, Defending, Concentration.

Weaknesses: Discipline (talks himself into cards at times and is very aggressive, arguing and mouthing off two the opposition), Injuries (Porro in 2 seasons at Sporting has managed to pick up some nagging injuries causing him to miss some key moments, although he has never suffered any major injuries to date * knock on wood)

TRANSFER SPECULATION/MARKET VALUATION: Porro has been heavily linked with the liked of Real Madrid, Barcelona Atletico Madrid, and as of recently Sevilla. Sporting would demand somewhere in the region of 40-45M for Pedro Porro. I can see England heavy hitters being interested in his signing if he performs up to standard yet again for Sporting both domestically and in the CL as well as for Spain at the World Cup. With reports coming out that United are interested in a RB I wonder if they have shortlisted Pedro Porro as a potential signing. Pedro Porro would slot in seamlessly with ETH style of play and would be an immediate upgrade for United in an important position for the squad. With the transfer window closing in s couple of weeks and the new season kicking off this weekend I don't see Sporting selling Porro this transfer window however next summer their is a goof chance they lose many key assets including Porro.

VIDEOS/SCOUTING:

** If you skip to 2:21 you can see his passing ability with the fantastic assist to Sarabia for the game winner*

Haha I skimmed but I’ve been a fan for a few years now.
Since he joined Sporting or from his Girona days?

Ya he is a fan favorite here in Sporting and if its worth anything probably the best right back to play in Portugal for a long while.

Isn't this guy a City player? Well, I think Sporting have signed him fully now, but they have a buy back option.

It is a bit frustrating, I imagine if we'd had this guy on our books instead of City he'd have probably been in and around the first team squad for a while now.

Wouldn't be surprised if City sign him back when Walker starts to slow down.

Nah he is a Sporting player we bought him from City. I don't believe City have a buyback option if reports are true. They may however have a "first dibs" or an ability to match the offer when he is sold but this has never been reported as far as I am concerned.

The fact we signed him only until 2025 tells me their may be an agreement between club and player for him to leave next summer considering how grateful he is too the club and how much cares for them he probably wanted to be sure Sporting were compensated well enough when he is sold. This is just mr speculating though.

I remember reading City had a buy back and it was reasonable too

Edit: yh it's 20m euros, which I imagine City might trigger at some point

Can you link me to that? I can’t believe I missed that!

Hopefully they don’t trigger it so we can get more money !

I wonder if he's going to adapt well to the more classic 4 in the back right back role .

We'd probably take a look at him next season but unfortunately he'll end in city if he has a cracking season.

Won't end up back at City. For all the crying he does about wanting to leave, it's Yan Couto and not Porro City have lined up post Walker.

Honestly we just hoover up top rated youth every one knows about like Chelsea do, keep them till they're 20, loan or sell them on with a buy back just incase they reach the required level.

Doesn't actually require great scouts just the willingness to take a chance on known players likely to turn a profit in a couple of years

It's noticeable lately how both City and Chelsea seem to churn out ready made top level players from their youth academies compared to ours. We have talent in our underage teams but even the likes of Greenwood who everyone seems to agree was our best youth prospect since the class of 92 boys (or Ravel) took a long time to get used to the physical side of the game and the guys at the level below him have to struggle at lower levels. Other hot prospects like Gomes completely faltered at the top level even though lots of people thought he was a genius.

How is he a product of City’s academy?
I'm not interested in a debate on semantics. He's as much a youth product of city's as players like Hannibal, Chong, Hansen, Kambala, Hugill are to us. It's the output from our academy that I'm commenting on whether that is through player development or scouting.

They bought him at 19 and he's literally never kicked a ball for the club. Not at all comparable to the ones you mentioned.

What? He never played for City's academy though. I'm not arguing semantics, I'm genuinely not sure how you could count him as a City academy product. He joined them when he was 19. I'm not sure he's even played for them at reserve level.

100%. The way she tried to cover it up was hilarious.

"I am always that close to all my friends that I care so much about (they were skin to skin close)" "If we wanted to kiss it would not be in the VIP lounge"

Then a Uber driver stated he took both of them home and she was a tad bit tooo close to Porro. Listen....she is a Sporting girl through and through plus despite Joao Felix footballing skills he looks like a dweeb and he's from Benfica:nono:. That girl is too pretty for him so carry on Porro!:D

MY BOYYYY Porro winning in this video !

Ah sorry, I apologise, genuinely thought he had played a couple of seasons at underage level for City.

Even if he had it wouldn't make sense? Unless you consider Amad to be a product of our youth system? City paid £11m for Porro in 2017, United paid £18m for Amad in 2021.

Tottenham are allegedly highly interested and preparing to make a bid in January. However I don’t see him leaving until the sunmer.

Good signing for Spurs? Makes sense to me.

Really good player and great signing for Spurs. Not exactly a fix for their woes though as their main issues are in midfield and central defence.

Can he play in a back 4 or have they just brought another wingback knowing Contes leaving in the summer?

Certainly looks a good player. I remember their last Spanish full back was meant to be top drawer for them as well mind you, and he did start off quite well to be fair to him.

Don't Spurs already have like 5 right backs? But typical Spurs, need a creative midfielder, buy their 6th RB.

When I've watched them this season I've thought the glaring issues are GK and full backs.

Spence went out on loan and Doherty was released so they now have this chap and Emerson.
Ok fair enough then, they kept Royal? Last time I watched him I thought he was rubbish for a wing back, cannot go past anyone. Maybe he is good defensively and positionally so Conte likes him.

Didn’t watch the whole game but apparently had a shocking debut. Sherwood described it as one of the worst debuts he’s ever seen. Got destroyed by Leicester. Strange to bring him in first game for Royale who had a great game against City last week.

Could end up being further crap recruitment by spurs for €45m.
